It would be foolish for anyone to assume that there were no globally recognized musicians from Nigeria b4 d 70s, 80s and d 90s. Check out the following names; Rex Lawson, Sunny Okosun, Victor Uwaifo, and many others from Nigeria who thread d road that d current crop of international musical stars now thread.
Thank God I had a friend who took me to see Fela in Amsterdam. I am a fan for life. I have seen him twice in Amsterdam. A Wonderful artist. I have also seem his son and Sunny Ade. Fela opened the path for me to explore African music. It has been a wonderful road since
