  • MotorTorque has tested the Volkswagen Golf Bluemotion, the most eco-friendly model in this popular range, to see how it fares behind the wheel.
    It's an incredibly easy car to drive, perfecting ride comfort, handling and overall drivability.
    As the eco-version, the 1.6-litre 110bhp diesel is never going to win races, but this latest version, the third-generation Bluemotion, is notably faster off the mark than its predecessor, achieving 62mph in 10.5 seconds.
    Then there's the appealing maths. Official figures say the car does 88.3mpg, which equates to 900 miles on a single tank.
    Realistically, that's never going to happen, but even if you manage 70mpg it's an appealing proposition. Add in 85g/km CO2, which means no road tax, and your wallet will thank you.
    Standard equipment includes a 5.8-inch colour touchscreen, DAB radio, iPod connection as well as top safety systems such as an automatic post-collision breaking system.
    This Bluemotion model adds in excellent efficiency, and despite being more expensive than its core rival, the Ford Focus Econetic, there's no doubt this car will be a favourite for many years to come.

    Prefer the styling of the smaller Polo Bluemotion, a smaller version of the Golf, and the Polo's bodykit looks sportier.
    Golf does 88mpg, Polo 91mpg.
    CO2 emissions 85 on the Golf, 82 CO2 on the Polo.
    Polo does it for me, and that's why I've ordered a brand new Polo Blumotion 1.4TDi

      Yeah if you plan to drive the car on a belt without any excess weight without any wind resistance or acceleration and braking like the do in the lab ...than yes you might get that fuel efficiency . Some car companies have 40% higher fuel consumption in reality compared to their lab tested consumption.

    WAIT !?!?!? What?? 70 mpg ?? No F-ing way... I had a US jetta TDI 2.0 and only get around 35 avg mpg. I call major bullshit

      I get 72 mpg with my golf 1.6 tdi on long motorway runs. Everyday average is about mid 50s which is still good. Even if you drive as uneconomically as possible it still stays in the 50s. Great car.

    I drove it today and is horrible. I prefer focus mk2 over this junk.

      +Phen0mable So you prefer cheap plastics and cramped interior? each to their own.

    • @Phen0mable

      Monkeybox Gaming comparing what you spend to what you get FOCUS is definitely better choice. VW Golf is premium car, however I think that it's overpriced by miles.

    • @Dreadpirateflappy
      @Dreadpirateflappy 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Phen0mable However there are far better cars out there for the same money as the Focus.
      Seat Leon, Skoda Octavia, Vauxhall Astra etc
      Focus doesn't even have great handling anymore compared to other cars.

    • @Phen0mable
      @Phen0mable 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Monkeybox Gaming Leon is more expensive than Focus and Astra is worse than Focus. Astra also loose more value over time
