Thx for additional info, it "sounds" very very good :) Some time ago I almost bought Golf 6 because it was quiet, good looking, suspension was a little bit firm, but still comfortable... but the the trunk was the deal breaker for me, it was one of the smallest in its class... PS. you should know, you are IMO the best car reviewer on YT, you are the only one who is always responding to your viewers questions... Good Job!
Had a hire car back in '05 and could it corner, haven't found a car to handle as well since.Golf has always been a car people think of and its good that they didn't change it too much.Couldn't help notice that it does slightly resemble the new Jetta from front low shot but still a great looking car.Bob you enjoy these reviews more than we do watching them but as ever you tell us what we need to be told, keep it up lad. Daz
I really enjoyed this one as I could tell you had a blast in the twists. The intro and outro were excellent choices but what really got me in the end was the jogger in the "g-string"...lol! Thanks for the excellent review.
A man that get's my reviews! The parking brake has been around for years and although it's had some problems it's much more reliable now. It's one less thing to do in the car.
Glad to hear that you like the reviews. I'd say the new Golf would be more than happy being modified, it could probably do with a little stiffing if you want the same kind of handling you have now.
Nice work on ordering the new Golf, you'll love it. The parking sensors are optional on all models and come part of a pack and as you say the reversing camera is better value on the Highline model because you already have the screen. Good choice
The new big screen one is the best sat nav/infotainment system I've ever used. It'll be an option here in Ireland but in the US it might be standard. DSG is where I'm at with this car too, I loved it and normally I prefer a manual shift but the Golf works
A bit hard to choose that one, I haven't driven the Golf in Ireland yet but it's due in the first couple of months. Right now I'm betting I'll like the Golf more when it gets here but the V40 is also a fine car. I'm glad you're enjoying the videos!
Looks like a great Golf, as they always are. I hope in the US you'll be able to get one with a good nav system (we get the RNS-315 which isn't very good, currently), a light colored interior (starting with Golf VI in the US, black has been the only interior option), a TDI, and a manual (currently in the US with the Passat and A3 if you want a diesel you need to get a DSG box if you want navigation, and in some trims can't get a manual at all).
The screen comes in various sizes including the big one that you see in the video. That one is 8 inches I think, it is on the option list here in Ireland but you can have the smaller one as standard from the mid range, I believe the smaller screen is 5 inches but has the same functionally. You can see that screen on the SEAT Leon video that just went up. The Irish launch of the Golf is next week and I'll have more details then
It was Sardinia, there was really no roads that we could try it out on. I have used the system in a few Audi's and I can tell you it's fantastic on a motorway.
Thank you for the tip, but maybe the 2.0 diesel would be better? Does the car feel big as it is on the road, how would you rate front and side visibility?
I'm fine man! Yes the cabin is really that quiet, huge refinement in every inch of the car. The Golf was always the benchmark for the hatchback segment, now it's streets ahead of everything else.
The cylinders still work it's just the fuel that shuts off so the wear is the same on all four. Good point though, I thought the same thing at first it was the engine designer that taught me how it works.
i currently drive a mk6 golf GT TSI 1.4 160bhp and I have to say it is quite a nice car to drive. my previous was an audi tt mk2 3.2L 250bhp and I don't regret changing to the golf at all. good all-round car.
$1,400 CDN for our DSG models here in Canada. You guys pa a lot for your options compared to us. The Yanks pay even less. We get this new Golf several months after you guys. Can't wait for the GTI review. Great review as usual Bob, cheers. We dont' have to worry about CO2 here we pay $75 per year regardless what one drives.
It's a tough one because trim lines vary from country to country, the trim colour in the video is called Shetland here in Vienna trim, I think your colour code is correct at XW. It was very pale when I seen it at the launch.
Hi, I see in your video that seats are light gray or almost white. What interior trim is it because I do not find it in the VW catalog, in which, the sole light color is a shetland looking to a pale beige in alcantara (code XW) ? thanks for the video.
Leon is coming to Ireland next Feb/March I'll test it as soon as possible. I'm looking forward to it because I liked the last Leon so much I bought one :D
Never used a flappy padel, want to upgrade from my 01 1.8t. Can you change from auto to flappy while driving, or do you need to be stopped, in park to change back and forth? Hate to grind something XD
Great review thanks....never had a Golf before but looking for something along those lines. A3, Golf, Focus, Volvo etc...... It sounds like the Golf comes out pretty well top? Thinking about the 1.4 GT DSG which you seem to prefer to the manual? Good call or are the lower versions better value for money? Oh, and the wheels.... I dont like the standard wheels so i was thinking about the 18in Serron Alloy Wheels... would that make the suspension a bit harsh??
Thx for another great review! :) But what can you say about wind/road noise levels? Is it quieter than Golf 6 and Citroen c4 (which I find the quietest from all [not premium] compact cars). And how is the trunk? Is it noticeable roomier than in the previous model? PS. do you know anything about Combi/Wagon/Variant version?
We pay about 1500 euro for DSG here probably because it's seen as a luxury or option here where as there are far more automatics in Canada so it has to compete much harder. By the time you get the Golf the GTI version will be out and I can't wait!
Here's the details, the 8 inch screen from the video is on the highline but there will be a 5 inch touchscreen as standard from the entry model. 5" is cool too, most of the same features but the 8" is more impressive.
Funny how these lower budget reviews are always better and more informative than what you can expect from the big professional auto magazines.
I was prepared to watch about a dozen reviews. After watching this review I am done. PERFECT review!!
Great car, great review and love the sound track! Keep them coming Bob!
Great review guys! Can't wait for these to be delivered to the states. GTI Mk7 here I come!
Another gem of a review Bob :)
Like the style of the review, really natural and informative.
Great stuff lads, that piece at the end was priceless
Excellent review, best I've seen for the Golf VII
I'm glad you enjoyed!

Nice review Bob and what a beautiful hatch.
Thanks very much, I'm glad you like it
I have a Golf 1.4 tsi manual on test this week and it's bloody brilliant. I can't wait for the GTI

Great review, Great camera angles!
Getting a golf this year as my first car! =]
Well done, you've made the right choice. Best of luck with it!
I have bought myself this model in Pearl Black, I am loving it!
i love the way this guy reviews
Glad to hear that you like the reviews. I'd say the new Golf would be more than happy being modified, it could probably do with a little stiffing if you want the same kind of handling you have now.
YES! I was waiting so much for it!
u have a unique method of review, excellent,,, :) i was smiling throughout
Cool. Sounds like an amazing job!
the song at the end just puts the cherry on the top of this vid..... along with the lad out for a brisk run :D
nice review. very real. thanks. keep up the good work
Can't wait for your review of the Golf ARRRRR.
Just ordered the new Golf 7 ! 122hp DSG comfort line, but it will be delivered in 7 month ! Can't wait!!
great review Bob.i am expecting your test when the new seat leon comes.
Nice work on ordering the new Golf, you'll love it. The parking sensors are optional on all models and come part of a pack and as you say the reversing camera is better value on the Highline model because you already have the screen. Good choice
Very good review as allways.
Do you have a volume knob or some sort of control over your volume? :P
The new big screen one is the best sat nav/infotainment system I've ever used. It'll be an option here in Ireland but in the US it might be standard. DSG is where I'm at with this car too, I loved it and normally I prefer a manual shift but the Golf works
Cheers John!

I'm glad you're enjoying the videos!
Where would you put the sat nav then?
Looks like a great Golf, as they always are. Coming from you guys that means a lot, thanks very much!

Great review!
Nice choice, best of luck with it
Thank you!
If you had to choose between the new Leon FR or the MK7 Highline, which would you prefer ?
like your reviews!
Thanks very much!
Thanks dude!
Cheers dude!
Think more no budget and you've got it :D I'm glad you like the reviews!
This review made me buy the mk7 the best car I ever had - hope your well Bob
Why thank you very much sir!
Many thanks, keep up the good work :)
Does the DSG gearbox still has its problems , or is it fixed for the golf 7 ? i really need to know , i might get one soon.
I'm sure I'll be in the S3 at some point but there's no dates yet so I'll have to wait.
It's a great car now, it's the best Golf yet
It was Sardinia, there was really no roads that we could try it out on. I have used the system in a few Audi's and I can tell you it's fantastic on a motorway.
There's more changes underneath than on the surface but they are very different to drive.

I'm fine man! Yes the cabin is really that quiet, huge refinement in every inch of the car. The Golf was always the benchmark for the hatchback segment, now it's streets ahead of everything else.
best car reviewer on youtube!!! just wait till more people see this guy; u my friend are about to make some cash.
The cylinders still work it's just the fuel that shuts off so the wear is the same on all four. Good point though, I thought the same thing at first it was the engine designer that taught me how it works.
The new Leon is coming to Ireland next Feb/March so I'll be testing it around then.
hi bob, good review as allways. will you be testing the focus 1.0 eco?
Were you just using your left hand to type that?
Hi .Is the multifunction screen optional in Ireland?
i currently drive a mk6 golf GT TSI 1.4 160bhp and I have to say it is quite a nice car to drive. my previous was an audi tt mk2 3.2L 250bhp and I don't regret changing to the golf at all. good all-round car.

thanks very much
Already tested and in the queue for a video soon, it's not as economical as you might think. It moves about though
Between this one and the classe B, which one would you choose ?
It's a tough one because trim lines vary from country to country, the trim colour in the video is called Shetland here in Vienna trim, I think your colour code is correct at XW. It was very pale when I seen it at the launch.
He was just running along all oiled up and looking lost, I thought he was on a stag do first. Thanks for watching
Thanks!
Hi,

I actually have an Insignia 1.4 petrol next week. Full review soon

Nice, hope you're be happy with it, and will with next one! :D
I'm so used to it now I don't really notice, It's only when I come to a junction that I have to think about the side of the road. It's easy after that
I hope it was worth the wait!
Bob, how does the 1.4tsi compare to the 2.0tdi? I've driven the 1.4tsi in a mk6 and the 2.0tdi in a mk5 and can't decide.
Good to know, cheers.
Nice going, Bob :) You are good.
Great review thanks....never had a Golf before but looking for something along those lines.
A3, Golf, Focus, Volvo etc......
It sounds like the Golf comes out pretty well top?

I wonder how many of these cara are still on the road?
Yes, I stink it's standard on all models. Do you need to do handbrake turns or something?
Have you done review for the new Peugeot 308? I can't find it.
Thank you
Still looks good, 8 years later
Thx for another great review! :) But what can you say about wind/road noise levels? Is it quieter than Golf 6 and Citroen c4 (which I find the quietest from all [not premium] compact cars). And how is the trunk? Is it noticeable roomier than in the previous model? PS. do you know anything about Combi/Wagon/Variant version?
Very nice place and very nice review. What about 1.2 TSI in terms of performance ? Any of you happened to test yet ?
Wow im loving the MK7 and the Song at the end. Day like this by Van Morrison
We pay about 1500 euro for DSG here probably because it's seen as a luxury or option here where as there are far more automatics in Canada so it has to compete much harder. By the time you get the Golf the GTI version will be out and I can't wait!
You're the man!!!
Yes, more driving feel from the Golf. Much more fun
thx for the awesome video.. i recommend you use gopro cameras mounted outside the car so that you can take movies as you drive.. :)
Love new Golf, as always.
Bob my cousin also told me bout the DSG but I want to get the golf in manual transmission..is it true you save more gas on DSG than manual?
Days like this :) Very nice car. I love it !!
Is there a new Golf Variant review coming up soon, I wonder?
Here's the details, the 8 inch screen from the video is on the highline but there will be a 5 inch touchscreen as standard from the entry model. 5" is cool too, most of the same features but the 8" is more impressive.
