Thank you Jackie! I'm still not sure! - but the great thing about acrylics is you can paint over them so I'll live with the orange background for now but can always change it up at a later date! Take care 😊
Thank you...your tutorial on the open acrylics is the best I've seen so far. I appreciate the structure and clarity of the presentation, your pro-&-con remarks, and seeing the progression of a painting with the open acrylics. Looking forward to seeing more of your demos.
Thank you for the review. I have had my eyes on theese for a while, and I really like what I see here. Both the great painting but also the ease you seem to paint with. The drying time in regular acrylics is really challenging I think too.
This is beautiful! Before i started using Open, I would use small dabs of paint, which made for mixing really hard to do consistently. But there are times I like the quick drying time on some paintings, so I now use the type I need depending on the painting.
I really hope we receive some Golden Open acrylics in one of my art subscription boxes this year. The one I thought had them were actually Heavy-Body acrylics - a whole different ballgame there. Fingers crossed because this looked like a lot of fun!
I enjoyed watching your entire process! I have wondered if theses golden paints are worth the price. You made them look easy to use and you created a lovely painting! I think both backgrounds looked fine. I rather think a blue, a contrasting color to the eye would give an even greater punch, but it is hard to imagine with your picture looking so good! Thank you for sharing your expertise and giving us some real experience with these paints. Please keep creating these amazing videos and take care of yourself!
Thank you! I did wonder about a blue background to act as more of a contrast but thought the eagles beak might get a bit lost as it has blue tones in it? It was a lot of fun though and I'm glad you enjoyed it! Take care 😊
I bought the landscape set of Open acrylics about a year ago, as I was taking an acrylic painting class, but I never got around to using all of them before the first lockdown. I did use the white one with my ordinary acrylics on my last painting, and I really liked the extended working time too. I don't paint with acrylics at home, but I am looking forward to taking another class or workshop with the Open acrylics in hand in the future. Thank you for the demo!
I'm looking forward to painting more with these open acrylics as the slower drying time makes acrylic painting a bit easier for me! The landscape set looks good- let me know how you get on with it! Take care 😊
Awesome. You are very talented! I loved watching you paint this eagle. I have some golden open acrylics and haven’t used them in about 2 years. You’ve inspired me to bring them out again. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us!
Gorgeous eagle painting. The soft orange background works best for me, as it brings the eagle detail forward and compliments it well. For acrylic painting I have been trying flow enhancer and retarder to help slow the drying times down a bit. Plus I use odourless thinners to reduce drag and make paint stick better. Those Open paints look good though.
Thanks for the demo. Apart from drying quickly, the other issue with acrylic is that it darkens a bit when it dries, which can be v annoying. W&N artist quality acrylics don’t seem to do this (and they stay open for a bit longer than, say, student Galleria etc). Did you notice any colour shift from wet to dry?
Hi Roger! I'm glad you liked the demo. With most of my paintings being in watercolour -where paint tends to dry lighter- I find it quite an adjustment when painting in acrylic but I can't say I noticed much of a drying shift with this brand. The extra drying time was great too!
Hmm...I may need to use these with the heavy body. I like heavy body, but to cover large areas or areas that need good blending, it's a bit difficult and I often feel like I'm wasting paint.
I’ve never been interested in use Acrylics or oils because of the smells and different mediums. I didn’t know you could use water with Acrylics and even better, slow dried ones. Might by this small set and give them ago.
Hi Gillina! I've not painted much with acrylics as I found the fast drying time frustrating but these were fun. Let me know what you think if you try them 😊
Beautiful painting and great review. I guess I preferred the gray background myself....

Thank you so much. This formulation certainly made painting with acrylics a lot easier for me 😊

That's a great idea! 😊

Thank you Miranda. I've not tried heavy body acrylics yet but really enjoyed these open acrylics- I hope you get some to try! 😊
Gosh you are so amazing! I would love to see more Gouache techniques by you... I am a fan of your work!
Thank you so much Laura! I really enjoy experimenting with different mediums- I have recently bough some acrylic gouache to try as well 😊

Hi, friend! Beautiful eagle!!! 💖💖💖 Stay connected 💖
HI Jo- thank you so much! 😊
that's really beautiful... how long does it take for them to dry on the canvas?

this is the EXACTEMENT product I was searching for repaint my wallet, thank you for the review
you're very welcome!
Nice thing is for certain parts you cold just use regular acrylics. Or oil for that matter after it dried.
This is very true! 😊

Dullest colors on the list
What colours do you recommend? 😊
