Fractal Spinning, But Make it a Gradient!

  • I have wanted to do some fractal spinning, but make it a gradient colorway for a while now. I've even had the perfect fiber for this project just sitting in my stash, waiting. Well, it is finally time so let's spin up a gradient fractal yarn!
    🤓The mathematical definition of a fractal is a geometric figure that retains it's character or shape regardless of scale. We are taking some liberties with this definition and applying it to the color pattern of our "fractal" yarn.
    🐑 The fiber in this video is from Wild Hare it is the "Mermaid" and "Shenandoah" colorways on Falkland combed top. (Affiliate) Etsy Shop: shrsl.com/2u1b1
    🧶 I'm spinning with an Ashford E-Spinner 3. You can get yours from your local Ashford dealer, or the Woolery (affiliate) woolery.com/ashford-e-spinner...
    🧐 Typo Alert: It should say "Falklands Wool" not "Falkland's Wool"

    my fave thing about that spinner is that the jumbo bobbins are standard. it is almost magic how much they can hold. i packed two bobbins with singles and ended up with enough 2-ply yarn for a whole sweater. editing to add... that finished yarn is GORGEOUS! you are seriously tempting me to do a fractal spin, but i have to get through a couple fleeces worth of fiber first.

      I have a lot of physical issues especially in my knee, hips, lower back, and neck. Spring time is usually pretty painful as the weather changes. This way I can keep spinning! I'm not quitting my spindles or treadle wheels. I'm just growing the flock. 😊🐑💜🧶

  • @deemg2830
    @deemg2830 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Evie! Hope you are having a great day/ night. Just wondering, is a spinning wheel better than a spindle ( in terms of yarn consistency) ? I am just a beginner, and i understand consistency is something that can be achieved through constant practice. But I can't help but feel a bit disappointed with my yarns. They tend to be too thin or thick in some areas. As well as some breakage.
    Thank you so much! Have a lovely weekend! 😊

    • @JillianEve
      @JillianEve  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's a common question! I think the key tends to be practice, but preference matters too. If you enjoy the tools you spin with you tend to spend more time doing it which leads to more practice. 💜🧶🐑😊
