I just watched the second part of this video a second and you just can't know how much you are appreciated! I got my bobbins for my fractal spin and 3 plied them well but the second part of my goal was to leave no single behind. I had done a ply bracelet once and struggled through that and my next goal was to learn how to chain ply. With your hidden gem of how to keep from wasting the yarn, I was able to do it. Yes, learning curve but I I'm very happy with the results! THANK YOU SO MUCH! We are so lucky that despite your struggle with anxiety, you take the risk of doing these videos for us and hosting the Tribe for Tour de Fleece.
It was great watching you spin that. I liked how in the beginning, the colours made their own wee segment piles on the bobbin, it just looked cool. Very pretty 🙂
I was watching this and when Luther and Donkey started barking, my Harley barked like crazy! 😂 I enjoy fractal spinning. So far I’ve only done a 2 ply fractal, though…
Cheeky Donkey! I hope he didn't eat too much of your fibre and I hope it didn't affect him too much. I love the beautiful watercolour look that braid had, I love the way the colours change at every stage in the process.
This is so fun, I might have to dive into my April PF bag and pull that out to spin sooner than I'd planned... I love the shot of Donkey on the couch with John, my puppy was mesmerized when he appeared, as usual.
The thing I learned about chain plying is that you just have to practice. It wasn’t pretty at first but it was much better at the end. Thanks for your video.
I would not have thought to use the smaller bobbin for the turkey play so that your last bobbin can be chain plied when making a 3-ply. That makes so much sense. I always use the bigger bobbin, then I often end up with the last bit being only a 2-ply. I'm so glad I know how to fix that now. thanks
What a beautiful set of yarns and omg what a clever way to use your bobbing up I'm defo gonna use this technique, much love trish, John, Luther and donkey xx
Great video and yes, it did turn out much more pink than I thought it would...I'm SO excited, my order from you is expected any minute! I hope the 4 little fluff balls will let me spin...
I love fractal. I’ve only completed one so far, but definitely will not be my last. using the turkey hand when one bobbin ran out was such a great tip.
We have a 13 month old half Pit bull and half Australian Cattle dog, It has been a long and wild year, lol. He has ripped and drooled all over a batt and some roving and run around the house with several balls of handspun yarn as well as a couple of full bobbins. I hope the drool on your braid is not as icky as what I had on my batt and roving, lol. I had to throw some of it away. This is a beautiful spin. Blessings.
I learn so much from your videos! I got a wheel over ten years ago and put it away because I couldn’t get the hang of it. (Learning on my own) You have given me the courage to get it back out and try again. Wish me luck
So appreciate your taking us through a fractal spin. I have one of your braids (Clown Shoes) and am going to try this for Tour de Fleece. It will be my first time to participate.
I think I’ll spin that next, since I got the same colorway and it’s SO pretty. A similar thing happens to me with my “thrift store” batts, made from drum carding waste and leftovers. I have an entire note on my phone with colorway ideas, and a lot of them are color combinations I’ve seen while spinning one of those batts!
Thank you for showing how to use all those singles and keep the fractal going for as long as possible. It turned out so lovely. Wow the pink really popped out. It’s so surprising how some braids turn out.
I loved the spinning wheel chatter in the background 😊 the fractal turned out so pretty! I need to find a fiber I’m willing to botch up practicing chain plying. Not a skill I am confident in yet
Love love love your work!!! Please answer this question!!! How much space does all your equipment take up in your crafting room or area? I love all the things and would love to get into doing it, but not sure I will have enough space for the equipment. Would it be possible to show a tour of your work space? Messy or not, we are all fiber crafters of some sort and know how it gets! If you cant show us, do you have a suggestion of another channel which may have a video like it? Thank you so much!!!!
That was very clever to see all the transitions you made to claim all those singles into the skein of yarn!! The yarn is very pretty! Now I’m pumped for The Tour de Fleece!
Great video! I'm so glad you took the time to show the difference between 3 ply and chain plied yarn. I still consider myself a newbie and I learn so much from your videos. Thanks for the inspiration you give!
Spinning twins! I am doing the same thing with mine, and I also got the same color way. I’m doing mine on spindles though since we’re traveling, so it is going to take me a while.
Beginner here. I want to try a fractal but I’m unsure about spinning a consistent single with different cross-sections of fiber (does that make sense?). Any tips on spinning across consistently?
Q1: why does Luther always growl when John comes home? lol Q2: does Donkey have PICA? maybe get that checked, could be dangerous. Q3: how do you wind on so fast it looks like it's going backwards? (jk, I'm just being dorky). Seriously, not a fan of fractal, but the colors played very nicely in this - gorgeous!
I saw where a designer used Schoppel Wolle Zauberball Crazy for an amazing color work effect. However, when I felt it at my LYS, it wasn't a texture I wanted to use for a whole project. I've dabbled in dyeing and spinning and was wondering if the fractal technique would recreate the Schoppel Wolle Zauberball Crazy or if it's another technique or combo of dyeing and spinning techniques I haven't seen. Do you have a video or resource on reverse engineering a commercial yarn?
Zauberball crazy is the 2 ply Zauberball, so a 2 ply fractal would give you a similar look with longer sections of striping + barber poling, the 3 ply fractal that Trish shows would be a good alternative to something like the spincycle yarns, the 3 different plies cycle through the colours at different rates giving you some subtle striping and optical mixing of the colours. I hope that helps.
I love that your husband sits with you when you're spinning ❤😊
The “welcome back’ on this one was fabulous! 🎉👏🏼🤟🏽

I loved seeing the transition from 3-ply to using the Andean ply +single to the chain plying!
This is why I cant finish my projects😆. I see you make something else beautiful and my crafting add kicks in and I'm like ooh squirrel🤣
Love the video Trish ❤ and good job salvaging what Donkey tried eating 😂 very beautiful!
I absolutely love the different ways of spinning a fibre ,and get a unique pattern.
It was great watching you spin that. I liked how in the beginning, the colours made their own wee segment piles on the bobbin, it just looked cool. Very pretty 🙂
one would never imagine that the roving could look that way spun up...love it
Great video. The spin turned out beautifully. I love the chatter your Minstrel makes.
So pretty!! Donkey couldn't resist those candy colors
Turned out so pretty. I always love how a fractal turns out.
I was watching this and when Luther and Donkey started barking, my Harley barked like crazy! 😂 I enjoy fractal spinning. So far I’ve only done a 2 ply fractal, though…
Wow! That's a beautiful skein of yarn.

I love this spin. Laughed at the chewed up bits
from Gerry- I often do a fractal with a colored braid. The result is always pleasing. I have never done it 3 ply. Your yarn is beautiful! Be blessed.
Oh, it’s so gorgeous!! Thank you for making this video.😊🙏
Very pretty, thank you for showing us. Take care.
This is so fun, I might have to dive into my April PF bag and pull that out to spin sooner than I'd planned... I love the shot of Donkey on the couch with John, my puppy was mesmerized when he appeared, as usual.
I love doing a fractal spin. ❤️
That yarn spun up so pretty. I hope Donkey is ok after eating the fiber.
I always learn so much from your videos! Thank you. I sure love that yarn. 💜
Oh, dear Donkey!😢😂❤
The thing I learned about chain plying is that you just have to practice. It wasn’t pretty at first but it was much better at the end. Thanks for your video.
Wow! You make that all seem so easy and simple!
Love three ply fractals!
I would not have thought to use the smaller bobbin for the turkey play so that your last bobbin can be chain plied when making a 3-ply. That makes so much sense. I always use the bigger bobbin, then I often end up with the last bit being only a 2-ply. I'm so glad I know how to fix that now. thanks
Beautiful braid, looks like cotton candy...
That made beautiful yarn. And with no waste!
I need more bobbins in my life to try a fractal. Love the yarn!
What a beautiful set of yarns and omg what a clever way to use your bobbing up I'm defo gonna use this technique, much love trish, John, Luther and donkey xx
Love your results. You make it look all so easy and I really enjoyed watching.
Love this yarn ply technique!
Love how you went through the different plying techniques to get all the yarn plied! Different results but all beautiful!
Such beautiful colours.
I loved how you used both ends of the largest amount after the smallest one ran out. I would have done the same thing. Beautiful results!
Yea Donkey! My dog loves fiber. I do t know ho w any ti da he has stolen braids and freshly spun wool and ripped it apart and eaten some! 🐕
Great video and yes, it did turn out much more pink than I thought it would...I'm SO excited, my order from you is expected any minute!
I hope the 4 little fluff balls will let me spin...

So pretty! Sorry you'r dog helped himself to your wool, I have had that happen before.
Looks like it didn't mess things up to bad. 😊
That is such a beautiful braid!
It turned out very pretty.
No single left behind! I love this, thank you for all the tips, really helped me get the most out of my first attempt at a three ply today
Now I need to finish working … I want to go spin!! Thanks for the inspiration!!
I learn so much from your videos! I got a wheel over ten years ago and put it away because I couldn’t get the hang of it. (Learning on my own) You have given me the courage to get it back out and try again. Wish me luck
sooooo pretty!!! 🥰
That came really pretty.
That turned out great!
Reminds me of a bin of candy.
So appreciate your taking us through a fractal spin. I have one of your braids (Clown Shoes) and am going to try this for Tour de Fleece. It will be my first time to participate.
very pretty... Can't wait to try this.....
I think I’ll spin that next, since I got the same colorway and it’s SO pretty.

Thank you for going through so many different ways to ply and how different they can be. Very beautiful!
I think my TDF goal is going to be to spin as much of my paradise stash as possible.
Thank you for showing how to use all those singles and keep the fractal going for as long as possible. It turned out so lovely. Wow the pink really popped out. It’s so surprising how some braids turn out.
So pretty!

The colors remind me of the Smartee candies.
So pretty! I just learned how to use the last of the bobbin on a two play. Now I know what to do for three ply. Thank you ❤
Soooo 😍
Looks gorgeous!
That is sooooo pretty I usually do chain plying but maybe I will try this now always learning from you thank you
I was just wondering what kind of plying Donkey is going to put it out… or if it’s going to come out as a finished garment! 🤭 Love’ya❤
Nice!
Thanks for sharing

Hi from Tammy in Washington state
Loved the video. I've only ever done 2 ply fractal. May be a new goal during TdF, lol!
That was very clever to see all the transitions you made to claim all those singles into the skein of yarn!! The yarn is very pretty! Now I’m pumped for The Tour de Fleece!
Ha I thought I was the only one that wanted my fibers to weigh exact
Great video! I'm so glad you took the time to show the difference between 3 ply and chain plied yarn. I still consider myself a newbie and I learn so much from your videos. Thanks for the inspiration you give!
Beautifully done. The fact that there is a loop at the end is just perfect for that next step how great is that😊 that looks so cool sped up. ❤❤love it
Spinning twins! I am doing the same thing with mine, and I also got the same color way. I’m doing mine on spindles though since we’re traveling, so it is going to take me a while.
I would like to see your turkey hand method...
Dividing into thirds makes me nervous! I always end up uneven in my weights.
I used to think I wouldn’t like fractal because of the amount of barber poling guy get, but you can’t even tell once it’s knit up
Your yarn turned out so pretty I like the spincycle look. But one question does it have to be three ply?

Video wasn't long enough Trish, Ive more to spin before done xxx
Lol I understand dog eating fiber
It’s quite a bit shorter.
h John... teach Donkey to swim so he can cool off....
Oh my gosh what a stinker!!!
