    I have subscriptions to 3 major tutorial sites.
    Not one of them has an unwrap tutorial as comprehensive as the one presented here by this author.
    Thank you.

      Look on the bright side, this is totally free and isn't costing you anything for a subscription :)
      Cheers mate, glad you enjoyed it

    The main Unwrapping process has explained clearly! Thank you so much! Could you please explain in future how can we unwrap something like cloth or another wavy material for Text writing or regular pattern painting in external application (PS). I tried to do this but failed. So i am very interested HOW it is possible (through unwrapping) without special software like Substance Designer.

      Cloth or any dense mesh is a bit of a drag to unwrap in 3ds Max native, but doable. For unwrapping anything complex i would go 3D Coat or Unfold3D

    Thank you so much for your great tutorials. I am an educator in US and have always learned significantly from your videos. That being said, I am working on a VR project using 3d max, substance designer, substance painter and unity, and I am wondering if you will create a video about how to unwrap an interior and architectural space using 3d max to be baked and used in substance painter for baking and texturing process and then export it to unity. I have searched TH-cam for something similar and no luck yet.Unless you know any channels that I do not know about. I am also using V-ray for my projects, so if you believe there is a better pipe line for 3d max and unity please let me know. I am very new in using Substance family and my ultimate goal is to create a photo realistic scene in Unity for my VR project. Any advice that you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

    i wish you had a link for that chair so that i can test the problematic furniture part, the second part which had overlaps and did not get solved easily.
    lately i am using unwrap pro and i think it works very good, like no overlaps at all

    Hey. One Question: You used the Unwrap Modifier on top of your Turbosmooth. Is that the regular way to do it? I mean it gets harder to unwrap with every iteration on the turbosmooth. Would it be possible to unwrap before the turbosmooth?

    • @DenisKeman
      @DenisKeman  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Generally you want to unwrap on the ittiration that you will be using for rendering

    • @designstudie
      @designstudie 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DenisKeman thanks for the quick answer! So unwrapping on the lowpoly but then texturing with the turbosmooth on it is not going to work

    • @marcusmuller9014
      @marcusmuller9014 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@designstudie Hey. You can Unwrap the Low Poly and then add TS, it works in many cases. But in case the UVs get stretched weirdly after TS (because dense vertex areas, often located at edges where you put some control edges, pull other vertices very strong to themself, which results in the stretching) you might need to add an EditPoly after the Unwrap and before the TS and add some extra edges that compensate this effect.

    Nice tutorial. But I'd advise you to give a try at 3D-Coat unwrapping tools. A 30 minutes work in Max becomes a 1 min job in 3D-Coat.

    • @DenisKeman
      @DenisKeman  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used to use 3D-Coat for my unwrapping for projects that i did work on, but then i kinda pivoted away to using Unfold3D and that is even faster then 3d Coat

    • @HanSolocambo
      @HanSolocambo 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh ? All right. I stopped using Unfold3D a few years back but it was an outstanding soft when it first came out. I'll give it another go. Thanks to your comment, I just saw that polygonal-design is still working on it.

    • @DenisKeman
      @DenisKeman  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the end what counts is that you end up with a proper unwrap, the software that you do it in doesn't really matter and you can use anything that makes you feel comfortable

    • @HanSolocambo
      @HanSolocambo 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Denis Keman agreed ;) But when working on a game for example the most important is to get the best in the shortest time. So if Unfold 3D is still as great and probably way better than it was : I ought to give it a try ;)

  • @bnxcvii44

    why are you still using 3ds max 2014 may i know the reason?

    • @DenisKeman
      @DenisKeman  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Force of habit and the fact that 2017 has crashed on me multiple times and put me off from using it as my primary version.
