That thing is so beautiful that when I've watched this video for the first time I almost fell on sleep and started to have reflections of my life , then I've forgot that I was looking for pedal videos on TH-cam
That is the Strymon Transport System (STS) in these pedals that no one speaks about. The folk at Strymon can't explain it technically and so they just don't mention it at all. Apparently Mr Strymon met with the aliens in about 2009 and they asked him: " What you want, mate? Anything at all, you can have it? Peace on earth, cold fusion free energy, even the cure for Cancel Culture? What do you want, just ask?" Mr Strymon smartly replied: "What do you know about guitar effects pedals?" The rest, as they say, is mystery. And if you don't believe me, just plug in to a Strymon Timeline and Big Sky and you will find half the day gone and that song idea still not recorded yet. Those bloody aliens, hate to love them!
So happy that my 4 children gave me a $300 gift card to Sweetwater and a 10% coupon so I will have this hot little item in my hands for $140 bucks. I am 56 and this will be my first pedal other than a looper that I have ever owned. I thought, why not start with the best. This thing is straight from Heaven. I play in our church. I think the congregation will be looking for the return of Jesus when they hear these notes.
I love all the great tones. Perfect for anyone, especially those who can't really play, to make beautiful music. By just learning and playing a few single notes.
+saedemoph You should hear TC Electronics Reverb 4000. I own one. Smoothest and most realistic reverb I have ever heard to date. You would love it and it is easy to program and use live in fact.
+christopher McKenna I will hear it, although I don't like TC, I have had the 3 delays, flashback x4, alter ego x4 and triple delay and I find the sound very artificial, don't know how to explain it, too digital? But will hear the reverb you tell me, even though I don't think to change my bigsky jeje Cheers...
It was the best verb out there. TC and Lexicon are thee only names that make studio reverb units that are true realism. Eventide is close behind but falls short. The 4000 is a scaled down version of the holy grail 6000 studio reverb system. It is not like thier Nova line pedals. It is very musical and superb sounding reverb algorithms. This is a studio verb. I hate all the pedals for verb as they sound fake or are limited in function.
This is not to be confused with the Nova line of stomp pedals. This is part of the Reverb 6000 series and blows away Eventide which is sort of what the Strymon pedals sound like with the shimmer and mod circuits. I dislike the pedals as they all sound fake or tinny or too washed out or not versatile enough regarding the parameters. This unit is a studio grade piece and is on par with Lexicon studio system. I had a Lexicon as well but thought the TC was smoother and more realistic and easier to program. Again, this is not a stomp pedal system and, they are quite costly but, the tone and flexibility is unmatched in a pedal format so far.
+christopher McKenna thanks for the explanation, I will look at it. I already saw it is a rack, right? I don't use racks right now, but maybe when moving to it, I will be able to consider the TC reverb 4000. Will see videos and reviews as well. Cheers...
i wish all the YT demos were this clear and simple..no talk, just let the sounds do the talking for u..great job, I am between this and the Eventide space, and this is making me lean towards the Strymon, thnx!
Starting at 3::00 n on was just heavenly playing... them couple of slid parts were so dam good... i absolutely love this kind of music and playing style... so so peaceful n beautiful.. im at a loss for words of how moving it is. Absolute perfection! 👍
Please how can I get in Nigeria, its not in Nigeria, the pedals we have here are majourly for soloist like NUX, MG 20,MFX 100 and so on.....please I really need your help.....I do really be glad if anyone can help my situation
tru tru, great piece. and great balanced video, succinct, informative! gosh bcuz there are manymany tedious videos, that dont allow the pedal to shine.
DURUTTI COLUMN FIRST TWO ALBUMS/SINGLES HAVE THIS AMBIENT SPACIAL SOUND AND REALLY HAUNTING HARMONIES TWO. CHECK THEM OUT IF YOU LIKE GUITAR INSTRUMENTALS THAT ARE VERY DIFFERENT FROM A ROCK/METAL APPROACH TO GUITAR INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC.
I know you can achieve it on both but is the Big Sky more ment for the more exaggerated reverb, therefore making it easier to dile in a more lush full big reverb?
Old thread but hopefully someone can answer my question. Can you plug headphones into this item and use it for practice without having any other amps? I like to practice with everyone in the house is sleeping so being able to move this around the house and just plug in headphones would be great.
Allen Barrett What's up Allen don't quote me on this but almost positive this doesn't. A great thing you could do is get some sort of recorder I use the zoom l12 even makes practicing with others easy with out anyone else hearing. Also serves as a audio interface if you really get into recording. I used that until I got a Apollo twin as a interface. Hope this helps
The price is absolutely ridiculous! This pedal should be called 'The Emperors New Clothes' or the 'Sucker Born Every Minute!' Pedal... What a joke! Its a lovely pedal but the only reason that they are getting people to hand over 500+ euros is because of pure snobbery! Pure nonsense!!
Marcin Migacz What do you expect?!! He’s playing into an AC-15!! It’s a small valve amp (which are usually difficult to keep truly clean at volume) which is known for a breakup sound and then if I understand him correctly he’s using the BigSky into the front end, so all of the extra reverb signals are hitting the front end of the amp with what is almost certainly a boosted signal overall, driving the input. This is exactly the effect he’s aiming for... it’s a beautiful ambient soundscape (in my opinion) and a perfectly valid way of demoing the pedal.
That thing is so beautiful that when I've watched this video for the first time I almost fell on sleep and started to have reflections of my life , then I've forgot that I was looking for pedal videos on TH-cam
Thats because you had a 'turn on' before you watched the video. You goofed off.
Ha! That's great!

Bro I’m not even playing with you the I barely got mine yesterday and when I started playing it I was dozing off to sleep made me feel so relaxed 😴
Same!

Love this comment 😂
he might be away dude.
@@efeconker😂
Cloud is so fucking beautiful
I came here because of Cloud , which is so beautiful for Acoustic Fingerstyle.
shagged it
I love all the great tones. Perfect for anyone, especially those who can't really play, to make beautiful music. By just learning and playing a few single notes.
One of the better demos of this pedal. Sounds great!
I got it and it is truly the best reverb ever!!!
+saedemoph You should hear TC Electronics Reverb 4000. I own one. Smoothest and most realistic reverb I have ever heard to date. You would love it and it is easy to program and use live in fact.

Sounds as good as it looks a pedal with style...on my wish list for sure now.
i wish all the YT demos were this clear and simple..no talk, just let the sounds do the talking for u..great job, I am between this and the Eventide space, and this is making me lean towards the Strymon, thnx!
wish u would shut ur gob
I haven't bought a pedal in decades. Ima take the plunge. This will work well with my modest modular rig. Great demo.
Have you got the pedal yet?
This is not just a reverb pedal believe me you have to own one there are so many amazing sounds you can get it
GaryPierceMusic2010 does it have a looper as well?
Irineo Abad Santos i don’t think so
Starting at 3::00 n on was just heavenly playing... them couple of slid parts were so dam good... i absolutely love this kind of music and playing style... so so peaceful n beautiful.. im at a loss for words of how moving it is. Absolute perfection! 👍
You’d love Christian music lol
Very beautiful sounds.
I really want to get one of these to experiment and mess around with.
I’m getting one of these next month been saving up for this pedal.
@Michael Cook yeah I got it a few months ago it is definitely worth it sounds so good on everything
I'm wondering if the foot switches are up to continuous use as they have a lot of work to do. 🤔
That cloud setting...
Lovely sounding pedal, and a gorgeous 'Paul too!
at last a demo not made for metal heads really beautiful tones but does it have expression pedal option
Yes it does
Shimmer the sweetest sound
I'd like to see a video of the Cloudburst into the Big Sky !
i think shimmer only sounds good with slow changing drones. too many notes makes it messy imo
AndroxineVortex you cAn adjust the depth of the shimmer I assume
shut it faty
Sounds awesome! Thanks for the demo!
What drum machine are you using in this video? Thanks in advance and keep up the great work!
omg
where has this been my whole life...
in ur add
I literally have no words
damn that cloud one is sick af
Too bad you cant get it Jp
Nice demo. My question is if it also works with a nylon amplified guitar. Thanks
Got one. It's awesome. Actually some of the lesser touted settings like Reflections are really unsung stars of the show. It's all good though.
Graeme Worsfold does it have a looper as well?
One of my dream pedal
For the song at the end, were the drums also run through the Big Sky?
+Dave Kuhn Yeah, I would like to know that as well!!
How do you use this pedal without a fuzzy sound when recording?
Strymon top pedals!!
Do you need this if you have the keeley andy timmons dual echo
It's damn beautiful .. but the price, not so much. >
It's so worth it though. I got it and it's easily on par with the legendary Lexicon and Eventide rackmount units
Even with the amount of money I've earned from my last job .. It's steep.
Worth every penny ,believe me.I save for like two months and will be ordering theBigSky .Thats a MUST have pedal if you're into ambient music as I am.
Not so much ambient for me more industrial but I like to dress the 'NIN' with some more 'modern' soundscapes to blend in a little prog metal.
Its shit, I have one, get an Eventide or Lexicon instead!
Please how can I get in Nigeria, its not in Nigeria, the pedals we have here are majourly for soloist like NUX, MG 20,MFX 100 and so on.....please I really need your help.....I do really be glad if anyone can help my situation
can you buy it online?
Buy it online dude
Stunning playing
tru tru, great piece. and great balanced video, succinct, informative!
gosh bcuz there are manymany tedious videos, that dont allow the pedal to shine.
Great sounds💫
chherd
Was the Hall a preset? If so what was the name?
FANTASTIC Review! Thank you.
beautiful. what is the guitar used?
DURUTTI COLUMN FIRST TWO ALBUMS/SINGLES HAVE THIS AMBIENT SPACIAL SOUND AND REALLY HAUNTING HARMONIES TWO. CHECK THEM OUT IF YOU LIKE GUITAR INSTRUMENTALS THAT ARE VERY DIFFERENT FROM A ROCK/METAL APPROACH TO GUITAR INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC.
Very cool indeed.
What's better for full on lush big reverb. RV-500 or Big Sky?
I know you can achieve it on both but is the Big Sky more ment for the more exaggerated reverb, therefore making it easier to dile in a more lush full big reverb?
Can you provide some chords/tabs for what you are playing on each setting?
Awesome playing!
I love this pedal...
Are these the Mesa boogie of pedals
BeeElectric Yes, yes indeed.
What kind of strings are you using?

The pedal sounds great, but the Vox sounds fantastic!
Amazing what you do at the end! Beautiful. Thanks for the review.
Thank you for this demo, came here from Reverb 🤓
Almost makes ya want to go buy one but then when you get it home your like na did I really spend that much on a pedal
Hi is it normal there is no display when adjusting the mod and mix knobs?
Nice song!

Nice
AWSOME VIDEO GONNA GET ONE OF THESE FOR SURE 👍
Damn , his phrase in 2:31 is so simple but so pretty. I'm falling with this pedal but my money not
I have one of these adn I never use it as EVERYTHING sounds cold and Scottish.
Uhhhhhh can I have it
Hahaha :)
I'm fae Scotland. Sounds nothing like it.
omg cloud is literally memoryhouse
expensive for me. i achieved that sounds on multi fx podxt
The shimmer effect sort of sucks, it just plays one note over everything off key.
2:52
nice bro
i NEEEED
I think this would have sounded much better if it was in stereo. But overall a very good video.
It cost a fortune but sounds like heaven in a box
The price is absolutely ridiculous!
This pedal should be called
'The Emperors New Clothes'
or the
'Sucker Born Every Minute!'
Pedal... What a joke! Its a lovely pedal but the only reason that they are getting people to hand over 500+ euros is because of pure snobbery! Pure nonsense!!
cool channel, i do guitar stuff too. rock over the internet
mi amor imposible.
its the ambient settings that make the difference...the rest are common verbs
Do it cheaper - play through an iPad + Christalline ( on the app store )
Cloud
Choral sounds like some James Bond sound
The only thing better then the pedal is the riffs in the video
I can’t believe not one Plate demo. Disappointed…..
Very nice but expensive.
Музыка...ужасная ! как можно с таким настроем что-то рекламировать ...
chorale is KATATONIA!!!!!!
KATATONIA, !!! Porcupine Tree, PINK FLOYD, GENESIS,
Cocteau twins, Slowdive 👈
ugh
Spring Reverb? Yuck!
So cool tool, but i hear overdrive

you are reverbing wrong!
What do you mean?

Audio del carajo! 😡😡
