  • I walk you through the 5 steps you need to take when painting and designing high quality, professional level designs for your 2D platformer games.
    These tips are essential to creating aesthetically pleasing, player friendly environments that will step up your design skills.
    I have learned these skills over the years of studying art and design, and putting into practice the education I have in creating Concept Art.
    Even if you don't think you're amazing at art, can't draw, or just can't seem to match the popular indie games that are coming out, these tips are made to compliment any type of art style or ability. They teach you the fundamentals of good composition which can turn even an amateur block game into a quality one.

    Haven't watched your other videos (yet) but this video was put together very well.
    First video i have found where there was actually some genuine knowledge about the aesthetics of a level, not the usual "make it function, add details... looks a little empty there so lets put somethinf there".
    I have a feeling you could make really exceptional videos on other aspects of a games aesthetics and have subbed.

      Thanks a lot! I’m so glad to hear! Yea I’ve learned a lot in art at school and teaching myself. And I studied Concept Art at University, where there was a lot of knowledge on aesthetics and functional & psychological design :)

      Thanks! I’m glad I can add something different to this space! Tips like these are found in other general art and concept design videos, but I’ve not seen them translated over into game design vids, so I thought it would be helpful :)

    Can you do a video like that for 3D scenes?

    • @UnburntStudios
      @UnburntStudios  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      3D isn't really my forte, however the same principals would apply. Wherever the camera is facing is your canvas. Make sure that objects are varied in height and weight distribution, and try to create leading lines that point to what you want to show off. I'll have a go at 3D and maybe at some point I can make a video when I'm more experienced :)

      @@UnburntStudios i think 3d scenes are largely dictated by where the game wants to funnel the player towards.
      Would be interesting to hear your thoughts on it though cos this was a great vid!
