I had a realization recently, that since matt gained power through realizing the value of friendship and that power let Gabumon Evolve to MetalGarurumon. And since MetalGarurumon is a walking weapons depot, whatever moment forced that to happen basically led Matt to "Defeating you with the power of friendship, and this Gun I found"

Something I find interesting about Agumon and Gabumon warp evo’s is that WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon have similarities to their rookies combined with, like you said, their Champion, the other main Megas were made different from Tai and Matt’s megas in my opinion only 2 of them are similar to Magnadramon and Plesiomon(before Vikemon) also makes me wonder why they got rid of Warp evo to mega since all media past Tri did regular evo
Awesome picks, I've got no arguments against any of them, but for my two cents worth, I've made myself really fond over the years of Armadillomon being an unrealized Holy Digimon and would go for Dominimon as a warp evolution for Armadillomon, as a sort of "brother" to Seraphimon. I even think Arkhai Angemon would be a fun ultimate level for Ankylomon, trading his Earthly powers for the Holy Fire and having his spikes transition to Arkhai's crown.
I was gonna say, "Wait, haven't we seen warp digivolutions for the others before in other media?" But then I saw the rest of the video, and now everything made sense. Thanks for clarification, Mr. Karn. Still think Seraphimon is my personal definitive Angemon digivolution.
Olegmon's body is also made of Treasure chests, which works as a double reference to Armadillomon's Armours - sea faring pirates burying and digging up treasure.
I think considering the whole Rosemon/Lotusmon stuff from Savers you could use Lotusmon for Palmon. With Gatomon I feel like maybe just give her Ophamimon to match Seraphimon. I'd say beyond that the rest are mostly decent choices.
I have been championing Olegmon as an Armadimon mega for years, I'm happy to see you include it here. It combines traits from Ankylomon, Shakkoumon, Submarimon and Digmon!
I mean Gulimon dosen't need a custom. It's Megidramon. "But Megidramon is a Dark evolution!" Then so are Growlmon and WarGrowlmon who both displayed behavior traits of Megidramon [And Gulimon himself for that matter]. Also; Gulimon manages to tap into Megidramon's power after reverting but before digivolving to Dukemon. Something you never see with any other Dark Evolution. Megidramon isn't a Dark Evolution, he's [the Adventure] Gulimon's natural Mega without Takato to balance out the Digital Hazard. Remember, Gulimon is a naturally aggressive Virus-type. In fact, since lorewise Megidramon and ChaosGallantmon are *literally the same thing* I'd reckon it would be possible for Takato to digivolve Gulimon into Megidramon without him losing complete control if he was in a better mindset.
Given how Guilmon's progression mirrored Tai's Agumon, the alternate mega would probably mirror to the progression of Rize Greymon into Shine Greymon. The Kami Cyborgs already fit this theme for 2 of the 3 just not sure if it works to turn Taomon into Raijinmon
Dunno if anyone's brought it up, but Olegmon for Armadillomon has a nice parallel to Goddramon with both having Red and Blue summons (Amon&Umon and Jormungandr&Surtr) keeping them nicely paired in 02
Very nice lines! We make and discuss our own lines just like this in the Dawn/Dusk 2.0 Discord, haha! Always, ALWAYS fun to put our ideas out there for other fans to see and think about. The TCG has done WONDERS for these kinds of topics, since they often explore canon anime lines and establish their own within the cards, almost like an official what-if situation. Love this!👍
Personally I don't think Warp Evolutions should be different to the canon Mega stages, after all Warp is just fastforwarding what's already in the code. But Hydramon for Palmon would be cool. Also that New Century Digimon does indeed fit Biyomon. And correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't tri or Adventure 2020 made official that Ophanimon is Gatomon's Mega?
Yeah this is just a bit of fun to explore if it DID affect the final Mega, nothing serious. And 2020 did yes but that's a separate continuity to Tri/Adventure which only had Falldown Mode
Karn, have you ever thought about making a video fitting custom arts made in the past into other evolutionary lines? Showing it as Digimon, with free evolution, they can come from anything and become anything, I think it would be really cool

I remember always getting those Beckett Collector magazines during the heyday of Adventure season one, and one of the features included a spread of the thru lines of all of the adventure partners up to mega. Godramon was their pick for Patamon, Plesiomon was the pick for Gomamon, and a surprising Gryphonmon was Biyomon's mega. As a kid, I always thought those would eventually be canon in the show, but of course those were just fanon from the magazine.
I really like Morphomon to Quantumon, like a lot more than I would expect. Like the ribbon-like butterfly wings of Morphomon translate wonderfuly into the frilly dress of Quantumon.

Like Tai and TK are paired and Matt and Ken are paired, then TK’s Patamon would have a courage evolution and Ken’s Wormon (wormmon?) would have a friendship evolution and those two could make an Omnimon Evo and then Tai’s Agumon would not only have a hope evolution but also a Hope Armon digivolution plus DNA with Joe and Matt’s Gabumon would have the Kindness crest and could DNA with Mimi (I think that’s who Davis was paired with?) Tai (Courage) TK (Hope) Matt (Friendship) Ken (Kindness) Sora (Love) Yolei (Love and Sincerity) Joe (Reliability) Cody (Reliability and Knowledge) Mimi (Sincerity) Davis (Courage, Friendship, and Miracles) Izzy (Knowledge) Kari (Light) You don’t have to do custom Digimon. Using the Digimon today would be cool idea or grasp of understanding of the direction. Anyway I’m gonna stop rambling but I hope you see this!
The real life explanation to why warp digivolution looks like this is because they were made with the toys where you can turn Agumon/Gabumon into WarGreymon/MetalGarurumon in mind. That's why MetalGarurumon has the same symbol as Gabumon on its belly and why WarGreymon's claws look like they're coming out of smaller claws and why his armor has the same color as Agumon's skin.
I mean, let's be real, the real reason they introduced Warp Digivolution was to cut down on animations from Rookie to Champion to Perfect to Mega, and just give an abridged sequence. If we had to see the full sequence for both Agumon and Gabumon, that would be half the episode right there. On a different note, something that I remembered while watching your segments here on Gatomon, Patamon, and Lopmon and Terriermon is actually something from Frontiers. The three Angels, Seraphimon, Ophanimon, and Cherubimon are angels for Humanoid Digimon and Beast Digimon, but Seraphimon and Ophanimon have Beast counterparts in Goddramon and Magnadramon, but Cherubimon doesn't have a Humanoid angel counterpart. What would be a good Digimon to fill in that gap, or maybe it's something to consider if you do like a miscellaneous Digimon custom art video.

Big fan of Palmon into Bloomlordmon or Hydramon from Toropiamon or Ajatarmon respectively with Parasaurmon as the champion. It's actually the line I use in a Digimon ttrpg game I am playing in.
I am so happy to see Plesiomon getting more love, I always considered him to be Gomamon's mega. I love the Godramon as Pattamon's warp mega, but I always though of Godramon as a DNA digivolution similar to Omnimon. I don't know why he just always came across as a DNA digivolution of Magnadramon and Seraphimon to me.
Great Picks! There were a lot their that I didn't expect, but worked exceptionally well! One Idea that popped into my head for Armadillomon, if you wanted to keep him on all fours, is El Doradimon. Also would love to see a video about the Sovereign's Digivolution lines. It would be interesting to explore the lines for them with no restrictions on what you could use. Sort of getting the ideal Sovereign Digivolution Line.
Oh hacc yeah!!! I like Seraphimon and Goldramon. With Ophanimon and Magnadramon. Another tidbit, Goldramon fits as Kudamon 2006's mega, because of the slithery body feel. And I like Kudamon 2006. With Reppamon and Angemon routes for it. And sometimes Valkyrimon as Kudamon's mega for speed and similarities, for Gammamon Kudamon compliment,same, yet compliment colors, or Gammamon and Kudamon together to make Siriusmon (like in digimon world 3 Guilmon and Bearmon) Kudamon being a good role model for Gammamon. Sorry if I had overwhelmed you with new things. And Kudamon 2006 with Shoutmon on level above level is a made up digimon "Chevalmon" or "Chevamon" (Valkyrimon and Angemon similarities), then Jogressing or DNA digivolving with OmniShoutmon to create Medicimon (pronounce Medichimon), the red priest and the golden guardian angel digimon... Ok that's enough...

If I remember right, WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon were made with the Digivolving Spirit toys in mind, one reason why MetalGarurumon has the Gabumon stomach logo. The 2020 Adventure anime also references the Digivolving Spirit Agumon toy with the WarGreymon evolution sequence, with opening the head towards the head becoming the wings and more.
A topic I'd love to see you cover is the concept of Digimon Parentage. In one fanfic called "Dragon in Shining Armor", there was a Paildramon sergeant who started out as an ExVeemon, and due to her father being an Imperialdramon: Dragon mode, she was born with Insect data already, allowing her to just naturally digivolve into her Paildramon form without needing to find a Stingman to DNA Digivolve with.

As for Agumon and Gabumon, surprisingly I think Adventure 2020 put forth interesting 'feels like better direct evolutions' for MetalGreyMon and WereGaruruMon in BlitzGreymon and CresGarurumon, if you're going with Warp digivolution feeling more like skipping and giving a final form to the rookie level, based on Champion
Gatomon to Saberleomon isn’t even a stretch when you look at Digimon World 2. For some reason, the ClearAgumon branch had Leomon and Gatomon as its Champions. So Gatomon being connected to the Leomon line isn’t unheard of, especially if you consider that her gloves are made of Saberleomon data.
Some great choices here I especially like crossmon for hawkmon, I'm a big fan of the evolution line hawkmon, halsemon, parrotmon and crossmon, I also really like olegmon for armadillomon but I feel it would work more as a biomerge due to its more humanoid form but undeniable visual similarity to ankylomon
This is such an interesting idea! I never considered that WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon are the way they are because they skipped steps. But that leads me to wonder... What would Agumon and Gabumon's Megas have looked like if they came straight from MetalGreymon and WereGarurumon, building on elements like the titty rockets and bipedalness respectively. Perhaps it would just be BlitzGreymon and CresGarurumon, but I'd like to think there's something unique that can be done there
As a thought on the "true" Megas being BlitzGreymon and CresGarurumon, it occurs to me that those would keep the combat styles of their previous forms (WereGarurumon being a melee/close range fighter, whereas MetalGreymon is more of a ranged focused fighter (bear in mind, even MetalGreymon's main close range attack has the capability of being used at range))
One of your recent videos made me think of something similar to this. The idea that warp could be a rush evolution less powerful but easier to achieve. Also keeping a similar design - pleisomon being the key example. I would have goldramon be patamon's with seraphimon being his true mega. To give another example warp digivolution is like future trunks rage mode but a true mega is like ssj blue
I'd personally use fanglongmon for armadillomon WAIT before you say it just look at it visually it works perfectly or if not then like spinomon because it has the blades of slashangemon
Hey Karn, I love Susanoomon as well as Kaiser/Emperorgreymon and Magna Garurumon, I was wondering what would the other spirits look like powered by the rest and what would their fusions look like?
Never thought about it like that before, interesting idea for alternative megas. I think since Wormmon is supposed to be an ancient species of digimon since it can armor evolve then I think Ancient Beetlemon could work as its warp mega, or maybe the other way and have JewelBeemon become Ancient Beetlemon and BanchoStingmon the warp mega. Also now I like Olgemon as an alternative mega for Shakkumon instead of Vikemon, or my personal preference Goddramon.

Big fan of Palmon into Bloomlordmon or Hydramon from Toropiamon or Ajatarmon respectively with Parasaurmon as the champion. It's actually the line I use in a Digimon ttrpg game I am playing in.

I am so happy to see Plesiomon getting more love, I always considered him to be Gomamon's mega. I love the Godramon as Pattamon's warp mega, but I always though of Godramon as a DNA digivolution similar to Omnimon. I don't know why he just always came across as a DNA digivolution of Magnadramon and Seraphimon to me.

Great Picks! There were a lot their that I didn't expect, but worked exceptionally well! One Idea that popped into my head for Armadillomon, if you wanted to keep him on all fours, is El Doradimon.
Also would love to see a video about the Sovereign's Digivolution lines. It would be interesting to explore the lines for them with no restrictions on what you could use. Sort of getting the ideal Sovereign Digivolution Line.

I like Seraphimon and Goldramon. With Ophanimon and Magnadramon. Another tidbit, Goldramon fits as Kudamon 2006's mega, because of the slithery body feel. And I like Kudamon 2006. With Reppamon and Angemon routes for it.
And sometimes Valkyrimon as Kudamon's mega for speed and similarities, for Gammamon Kudamon compliment,same, yet compliment colors, or Gammamon and Kudamon together to make Siriusmon (like in digimon world 3 Guilmon and Bearmon) Kudamon being a good role model for Gammamon.
Sorry if I had overwhelmed you with new things.
And Kudamon 2006 with Shoutmon on level above level is a made up digimon "Chevalmon" or "Chevamon" (Valkyrimon and Angemon similarities), then Jogressing or DNA digivolving with OmniShoutmon to create Medicimon (pronounce Medichimon), the red priest and the golden guardian angel digimon... Ok that's enough...
For an inverse of this, where Tai and Matt's partners digivolved normally to mega my suggestions would be good ol Blitz and Cres

If I remember right, WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon were made with the Digivolving Spirit toys in mind, one reason why MetalGarurumon has the Gabumon stomach logo.
The 2020 Adventure anime also references the Digivolving Spirit Agumon toy with the WarGreymon evolution sequence, with opening the head towards the head becoming the wings and more.

The lack of true digivolution lines for Hawkmon & Armadillomon is criminal. ExVeemon also deserves a true line.
They never got their crests and at the time the crests couldn’t be used as they had to keep the Digital World in balance.
A topic I'd love to see you cover is the concept of Digimon Parentage. In one fanfic called "Dragon in Shining Armor", there was a Paildramon sergeant who started out as an ExVeemon, and due to her father being an Imperialdramon: Dragon mode, she was born with Insect data already, allowing her to just naturally digivolve into her Paildramon form without needing to find a Stingman to DNA Digivolve with.

As for Agumon and Gabumon, surprisingly I think Adventure 2020 put forth interesting 'feels like better direct evolutions' for MetalGreyMon and WereGaruruMon in BlitzGreymon and CresGarurumon, if you're going with Warp digivolution feeling more like skipping and giving a final form to the rookie level, based on Champion

Gatomon to Saberleomon isn’t even a stretch when you look at Digimon World 2.
For some reason, the ClearAgumon branch had Leomon and Gatomon as its Champions. So Gatomon being connected to the Leomon line isn’t unheard of, especially if you consider that her gloves are made of Saberleomon data.
Some great choices here I especially like crossmon for hawkmon, I'm a big fan of the evolution line hawkmon, halsemon, parrotmon and crossmon, I also really like olegmon for armadillomon but I feel it would work more as a biomerge due to its more humanoid form but undeniable visual similarity to ankylomon
I'd go with AncientIrismon for Morphomon giving her the Fairymon line.

This is such an interesting idea! I never considered that WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon are the way they are because they skipped steps. But that leads me to wonder... What would Agumon and Gabumon's Megas have looked like if they came straight from MetalGreymon and WereGarurumon, building on elements like the titty rockets and bipedalness respectively. Perhaps it would just be BlitzGreymon and CresGarurumon, but I'd like to think there's something unique that can be done there
As a thought on the "true" Megas being BlitzGreymon and CresGarurumon, it occurs to me that those would keep the combat styles of their previous forms (WereGarurumon being a melee/close range fighter, whereas MetalGreymon is more of a ranged focused fighter (bear in mind, even MetalGreymon's main close range attack has the capability of being used at range))
A perfect champion for morphomon, especially when tying it in with Quantumon is Hudiemon

One of your recent videos made me think of something similar to this. The idea that warp could be a rush evolution less powerful but easier to achieve. Also keeping a similar design - pleisomon being the key example. I would have goldramon be patamon's with seraphimon being his true mega. To give another example warp digivolution is like future trunks rage mode but a true mega is like ssj blue

I welcome the idea of Olegmon being the Mega for Armadillomon, but I'd personally prefer Cannondramon. Would be a perfect fit.
I'd personally use fanglongmon for armadillomon WAIT before you say it just look at it visually it works perfectly or if not then like spinomon because it has the blades of slashangemon

Hey Karn, I love Susanoomon as well as Kaiser/Emperorgreymon and Magna Garurumon, I was wondering what would the other spirits look like powered by the rest and what would their fusions look like?
Never thought about it like that before, interesting idea for alternative megas. I think since Wormmon is supposed to be an ancient species of digimon since it can armor evolve then I think Ancient Beetlemon could work as its warp mega, or maybe the other way and have JewelBeemon become Ancient Beetlemon and BanchoStingmon the warp mega.
Also now I like Olgemon as an alternative mega for Shakkumon instead of Vikemon, or my personal preference Goddramon.
So now we need what war Greymon would turn into normaly
