Great info thanks, but I've read the '96+ E36 racks are also progressive, just to a much lesser degree that the earlier E36 racks. I have an '96 E36 and haven't noticed any progression, but I think it's subtle enough that you're not supposed to.
At video and thank you for his series. Been waiting for it after the first video. Can you also do parking and u-turn test of the racks. For daily use in traffic 😅.
Which one do you prefer, e36 96, or e46? I own E46 convertible and I always felt like it lacks precision on high speed, even with everything fixed the car was jumping from side to side and it was hard to keep it perfectly straight on the line on high speed.
There are a bunch of different e46 racks not all came with yellow or purple tag rack. But I wouldn't swap an e36 rack into an e46. There isn't I prefer one over the other. All depends on what the car is being used for
@@themaskeddriver daily driver + winter drifting. Does e36 rack fit e46 without any modifications? The issue I'm currently having is my rack has worn out, so I need to replace it anyway, and I'm on the crossroad. I feel like my standard e46 rack could use some more precision on speeds above 160km/h, it was quite hard to keep it on the line center at speeds above 200km/h even when the rack was in better shape... Why do you say you wouldn't swap it for a e36 variable ratio rack?
First you'd want to check what rack you have in the car already. But for an e46 chassis I'd probably stick with an e46 rack. E36 chassis the upgrade is a e46 rack. E30 chassis upgrade is e36/e46. An e36 rack in a e46 chassis is a downgrade in my opinion. Can it be done sure. But I'd stick with either a yellow or purple tag rack for e46

96+ m3s are linear not progressive

Sorry all the videos have been filmed. Can't go back and add tests
