Love this engine. It sounds incredibly "smooth". BMW really understood how to perfect the luxury-performance combination.
@@Brian_Eugene_Lee S52
13 year owner of an E36 M3/4/5. The car has been ultra reliable with its rock solid S52 engine. The car has lots of torque, sounds amazing, and I have a car that can do all things great. Grocery haul, drop off kids at school, and rive spiritedly to work. Over the years I learned to work on it myself and it has only really needed tires, oil, brakes and cooling. The only modifications are an aftermarket stereo and a Stromung Exhaust (research it. It's amazing). All in all a great great car! There is nothing I have driven that even comes close; maybe a Porsche 911.
Stromung Exhaust. Noted
@@yahtadi5152your going to love that exhaust. You place an order online and it’s made to order. Takes like 3 weeks to get it. After 2 years, that exhaust still sounds amazing. It’s an OEM plus type sound. Quiet enough at start up and cruising. But loud enough and throaty when you punch it.
Took me a while to figure out what that rattling was at 7:40 until I realized that was the Harley in front. It's not a backroad unless there's a Harley in front of you slowing you down
Yea the M3 is such a cool car, the Inline-6 sounds really good!
The best generation of M3 in my opinion. Still looks amazing all this time later.👌🏽🔥🔥🔥
Interior looks like trash
@@rahimi4762'90s car dude. Sorry no navi or Netflix
@@Brian_Eugene_LeeThey’re growing on me. Couldn’t stand them at first tho. The aftermarket has a few different bumper and kidney setups that make them look better too.
@@rahimi4762 Yeah I’m not fond of the two tone brown and black on this one either. If it had the black Vader seats and all black interior it would look much better.
@@Brian_Eugene_Lee 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you so much for featuring my cars. It means a lot to me and I’m honored to have them be part of your content. Keep up the great work. 🫡
You cars are sweet!
Coupe is just such a beautiful car 😍
Wow that is the best condition E36 M3 interior I've ever seen. Love seeing owners taking care of classic cars like this. The engine sounds a lot "gruffer" than I remember though. I've been in a couple with intake and exhaust mods, and they seem to sing a lot more through the upper RPMs.
I love how I recognized those roads instantly. Such a fun loop to drive around :)
I had the exact same 1999 car, wheels, fin , in white with the sand beige interior with manual. Have owned MANY cars over the years. Quite a few were faster than the M3 but none were more FUN to drive. That car just begged to be driven, pushed harder. AMAZING engine and great car!
without all the sound deadening, she sounds GREAT!!
That air vent for the a/c is huge!
Looks bigger than it is. It's actually nice how it wraps the gauge cluster on either side. Not overbearing in person. It blows hot air as well, not reserved for A/C 😉
How BMW has fallen nowadays…
What happened? The switch to bean-counters over engineers? We’re never getting cars like these ever again. We’ll need to restart humanity if we ever want things like these back.
😢👍
bmw is making so much money. what they do now works financially.
Damn this engine sounds so good. Such a growl to it.
Finally summer is back. I've been freezing my butt off these last couple of months.
my old man used to own a regular 3 series from around that year. good memories
ha mine too he had a 325 cabriolet with the gray interior.
Lovely car. Just needs a factory radio and chrome kidney grilles...
I loved my E36s SO much
this looks like fun
great car! makes me miss my old 2000 m roadster!
I bought my 1999 E36 in 2001 for $27,500. It had 45,000 miles on it; now it has 67,000. Black, no spoiler, black leather interior, all stock. I like it. I'm retired so I don't drive it much. I'm keeping it, though.
what a well maintained e36. fantastic car bro.
my 2018 440i has almost the same amount of mileage. Only done Fluids & Sparkplugs. I will never stop loving BMW's. 3rd one and I am just turning 25. Hopefully my next one is an M.
Awesome sound. Also that lady wasn't expecting three dudes to drive by with gopros while she changed her shirt on the side of the road
Got one for 12 the other day. Love it. 190,000 miles but i can go for another 150,000 or so easy
14:00 The old school engine driven cooling fan probably causes the revs to drop faster than more modern cars as well.
I like the cyclops megavent
some cars got it some don't, this is a nice example. i have the car and driver article from 1999 they said pros: punchy inline six and that's what it is.
When was this video filmed doesn’t look like Michigan in December?
dude I don't know that you could clip ur gopro on ur hat lmao thanks for this
But back the oem headlights with amber corner. But back the oem radio deck.
What a well kept car and so great it actually gets used and enjoyed!
The engine seems so under stressed. Typical 90's plastic creaking sounds to fill in the gaps! 😂
When I think of what makes a BMW in my mind, this is it.
some of the creaking might be the leather seats
SONNY!!!
currently selling my 1998 M3 sadly love this car so much.
I remember when I sold my Boston green ‘98 m3 sedan w/ 5 spd… that car was amazing. My biggest regret was selling it.
Well mines on the market if you want lmao. I really do love the car but going off to college I need something newer.@@k0edby22
Absolute dream fuckin MACHINE. I love this so damn much, jesus chirst.
Nice amount of interior squeaks lol
I miss my 99 e35 M3 so much. I move out into the country with rough dirt roads and had to sell it.
*E36
Where did you film? Looks like outside Asheville
Brother has the E36 325is, sadly a automatic though. Still fun to zip around
Automatic and still a fun car to drive? That’s a well built car.
I prefer manual as well. That’s just my personal preference.
@@nowiecoche I think automatics are pretty good these days. For cars of this era though, I can't imagine choosing an auto over a manual if you intend to do any kind of sporty driving at all.
Curious about which lightweight flywheel he went with? It's something I've considered for my E46 M3, but have read a lot of stuff saying it adds a rattle that would drive me crazy. Doesn't seem to be present with this car, which is great... could be a different situation with the E36 though?
Awesome car, thanks for sharing. Keeping it "mostly unmodified"/OEM+ is the way to go. Consider a final drive upgrade too! I have a 4.1 in my E46, made a massive difference in torque feel.
UUC aluminum flywheel with the E34 M5 clutch kit is what his car is running. Imo, the revs drop fast for my taste but it is a nice oem plus kit. I reviewed the clutch kit in that car.
Edit: To add onto this. The tolerances are looser in the 420G in your e46 M3. I cannot speak from experience but it will have more chatter than the ZF 5 speed will. There is a noticeable chatter with the 5 speed. You don’t hear it that well in the video because the car is nice and all the insulation is in place lol.

@@M-t3ch Thank you for the detailed response! Very helpful. Subscribed and looking forward to watching
Stick with OEM Sachs and Dual Mass Flywheel. I tried the Stage 2 Gripforce clutch kit on my E36 M3 and it worked well. It was more revy and performed great. However, the clutch pedal was about 30-40% heavier and after driving 30 minutes in the city you feel it. It is very tiring/exhausting. Also, it is quiet when the trans is cold, but as soon as the ATF warms up you hear the raddle at idle. It's not terribly loud, but it sounds like a little can of marbles rolling around in a can when standing outside of the car. I could only stand it for 60 days and I immediately switched back to OEM. I went with a Sachs Clutch kit with a LUK Dual Mass Flywheel. Car shifts like butter and ultra smooth.
@@DonBMW thank you for sharing your experience, that's def helpful. I will probably stick to OEM and I'll keep an eye out for those brands. Did you just order from FCP Euro?
@@mittortz
Very welcome. The Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF) is very expensive. $600. Mine was out of spec when I pulled it so I replaced it car had (110k). My My E46 was still within spec at 90k miles. You have to make that call. Bough the DMF on a Black Friday deal for $275. Bought the Sachs kit from Rockauto. Make sure to do the rear main seal while in there. It’s like $10.
needs amber corners
I had a 99 bright red m3 with that interior. I thought BMW called it magma.
You know what's crazy that BMW is almost a classic
Already is a classic. BMW isn’t the same company as it used to be, and they’re never going to make cars like this ever again.
Neither will any other carmaker. The peak of humanity has passed, and is now in decline.
If we want these cars back, protests, riots and convincing won’t mean anything anymore. Time to restart humanity to get these cars back and change history to doom EVs forever.
@@faheemabbas3965man after my own heart brother!! Sick of seeing these bloated ev pigs!!! Hideous! Wish we still had cars like these still 😢
@@faheemabbas3965the current G80 is the last petrol M3 that will ever be made. So enjoy these cars while you can.
Back before bmws became numb
Hey man, I'd love for you to check out my 2001 BMW Z3 3.0. It's pretty much stock (BC Racing Coilovers are the only mods) and it's a car that I drive so you don't have to baby it. It's been sitting for a while now so I'm sure it'll enjoy some time to stretch its legs.
I got the same one same interior 74k miles
12k rn.
my dad used to have bmw e36 316i 5-6yrs ago now am about to finisih highschool in couple months and first car is gonna be e36 318i probably and i will try to swap an m50 in it. Thats my plan

Traded My BMW 1000cc bike for this !
And factory mud flaps…
I’d never seen those before until GridLife, then again at Gilmore.
Ha, typed this right before you started talking about them!!! Haha, I don’t feel so awkward about the mud flaps now!!! No, I still do…
Love the M3.
Factory mudflaps 👌
Wheels are M Contour.
I am so disappointed that I cannot fit in an s2000 comfortably.
Lol why was the other homie answering questions about ... not his car.
My friend has a lot of experience with these. I love when he spits BMW facts!
Because he was clearly knowledgeable on the subject.
my bad~ I just assumed that owners of their respective cars would hold this type of knowledge over their own car. but I guess that is just me.@@moccasindriver
