    I know this is an old video by now, but there are a couple of things to note when removing the HPFP. The WIS states to move the crankshaft to 40° after TDC (there are markings on the crank pulley) and the screws/bolts for the HPFP should be removed ½ turn at a time. When starting up after replacing the HPFP, the ignition must be switched on for 5 s before the engine start in order to fill the high- pressure pump with fuel. Damage could occur to the high-pressure pump otherwise. The appropriate WIS document is AR07.02-P-1020FH.

    Great video, You've demonstrated the breadth of your "General" mechanical "Knowledge" while explaining. "Knowing" basic automotive engineering theory in "Advance" of diving in tends to alleviate fear and apprehension for the DIY. A true technician does NOT fear "Unexpected" challenges. TH-cam videos have proven to be helpful in many ways to include bringing in a lot of business over the years due to lack of training. Lack of training becoming evident by either the "Video Maker" and/or the ones who watch. "Knowing When" you're in over your head "Should" also present a sense of value. Value that speaks to what a Good Technician has spent years acquiring. I enjoyed your comment "I'm not cursing yet". Spoke volumes~

    Doing the plugs and PCV is a great time saver from duplicate work.
    This PCV design has double failure:
    1- failure of round seal that lets all the oil out into the intake.
    2- check valve diaphragm that allows unrestricted vacuum.
    next fix...engine ratling from leaking chain tensioner and the missing "check-valve" Benz left out. When camshaft oil pressure leaks out through tensioner, Four phasers are starved for pressure and get wasted.
    FYI: this M276 has THREE chains!
    👍

      Theres a pin in the camshaft adjusters that degrades prematurely and I've read from other forums that the camshaft adjusters actually cause the rattle, not the tensioners..

    I have the check engine light on my 2012 ml350 and the code now says p2279. The whistling noise was always there during the cold season but never bothered me since it went away after 5 minutes of starting the engine. I changed the serpentine belt in the front of the engine thinking this was the reason but it was of no use. I have now ordered the PCV part from Amazon/Uroparts as it was the cheapest. I hope this would set it right. German cars are comfortable but as much a pain in the butt!

    I'm looking at the video and I can't understand the reason why its necessary to remove the High Pressure Fuel Pump.. ? Seems to be high and out of the way enough that you can reach down and remove the Breather/Oil separator w/o removing the pump.. ?
    Is the High pressure fuel pump blocked in by/directly on the Oil separator that warrants removing it? Or is there a Bolt that The H/Press F-Pump Blocks? 🤔🤔
    I would think that After removing the bracket with sort of houses them both, the Oil separator should be able to be removed on its own... ??? 🤔🤔🤔🤔

      @@mjmorteo14 I just ended up unplugging the battery and putting a bunch of rags underneath to catch the gas in the lines and opening one by one. Luckily in my case I haven’t driven the vehicle in a week or two so there wasn’t any pressure built up for me so any fuel in the lines just trickled out instead of spraying out. My guess is after maybe a day or two the fuel will slowly start to lose pressure until gravity takes over and slowly starts to work its way back towards the tank. Hope that helps.

    • @partsshooter
      @partsshooter  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @WillRozmaity idk how many miles because this was a costumers car.
      The intake can be removed and valves inspected if you have time to remove it and are curious. That's the best route in knowing.
      Pour a solvent into a closed intake valve once removed and try a soak and clean with brake cleaner and a long wire brush to see how the cleaning responds. Suction the fluid out and repeat 3x till clean. It's a slow process but makes a huge difference in performance.
      Diesel may work with cleaning but brake cleaner literally degrades sludge on contract. Great at breaking sludge down the longer it sit.

    I am in limp mode after replacing the pcv valve. The codes I’m getting are fuel pressure too low and can shaft position over advanced. There was so much vacuum prior to replacing pcv valve that the oil cap had cracked and broken a bit. I’m wondering if maybe a tiny piece of the cap could be blocking fuel in the fuel rail. I’ve also seen in some case studies (after I finished the pcv valve of course) that you have to manually turn the cam shaft which is out of my league… any ideas?

    • @partsshooter
      @partsshooter  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If your timing is off, it'll throw off high pressure fuel pump timing also.
      If it ran fine before you replace it, check for human error during the repair.
      Check your oil level. If your car ate too much oil, may throw timing off and generate a code. Add oil if needed, clear codes and recheck

    02:38 How is the Bad/Leaking PCV/Oil Separator Causing The Vacuum in the Crankcase? How does that happen? If Anything I would think it should cause Increased Pressure... ?? 🤔🤔🤔

    • @partsshooter
      @partsshooter  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because the pcv uses engine vacuum to ingest crank case fumes. When the diaphragm fail within the pcv,, it fails to regulate vacuum which causes these symptoms.
      Natural aspirated cars don't create pressure, just vacuum to atmosphere

    • @phigo4kins
      @phigo4kins 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@partsshooter Okay I Get that NA Cars don't create pressure, But the main function of the PCV is to Relieve and Carry the Blowby Gasses, which on its own by design is created through the Pressure of Escaped gases of the combustion process, Aided only by the Engine Vacuum. These Gases (same one heard wooshing when you opened the Engine oil Cap in the Vid) live & circulates inside the engine (Under some kind of Pressure) until relieved by the PCV.. Thus, I'm Confused as to why/how any Part of the Engine that's beyond the Intake Manifold and The Cylinders Can still Be under Vacuum... ?? 🤔🤔🤔
