Les is mainly in the spotlight in primus but damn,Ler's solo on Bob's party time lounge is off the chain.Probably his longest solo and a favorite of mine.
This was my first Primus show and it was amazing! I have seen them at least 15 times since and this is the best show so far. Such a different energy with Brain on drums.
I've been listening to Primus for decades - but today I finally "got" Brain's appeal in/for this band. As a drummer, I've always liked Alexander, and never really understood why Brain was chosen to replace him. Sure, he's clearly competent and energetic - so he never sucked. Still, his drumming is simpler, and he always "bugged" me a bit - but now I understand that he brought metronomic mastery (coupled with energy and creativity). Anyhoo, no one really needed to read this. It was simply a Eureka! moment for me...
Herb had some health issues that he left the band for but he's been back for the last couple albums now. They both are awesome drummers but Tim is more technical in my opinion.
Love Tim Herb & Jay Lane,& seen a couple of gigs with brain,& he,s really on the ball here,you have to be an amazing musician to play with Mr Claypool & Mr Lalonde mate,Primus are unbelievable,totally unpredictable & arguably the best band i,ve ever seen & heard. 👍🤘
The soloing around 39:00 is fantastical!!!! At times it sounds like music from some car video game I used to play,,,and in one particle part sounds like Ler add Page, then feels like he takes me off into some surreal fairyland, just amazingD!!

all the primus drummers are great and do their own thing. brain's got that pumping beat going, herb's got that groovy melodic technicality, jay lane's sound has a 'pop' to it as claypool says. Herb is my favourite but this was still an amazing show and brain was great.

those planetary rear projections help with that. There's loads of little chunks reminiscent of Rush in the earlier Primus albums. Les is certainly original, but wouldn't be who he is without Geddy, Tony Levin, and Stanley Clarke to influence his style.

At the level these guys are at it's a question of personal taste. -Tim Alexander is a tremendously technical drummer with complex, "high drumming IQ" figures. -Jay Lane has probably the strongest signature among the three, sort of Stewart Copeland-ish in his drumming -Brain is the "groover" among them. All three are world class rock/funk drummers.
