I love that you set up parental controls to set up your kids for success. I think it’s amazing your trusting them to do the right thing and now just having them have free control, because it can lead to bad exposure at such a young age. I wish more people knew about this!
I feel like you are making such an amazing decision about when they get a phone.. you and your family are always running around and you know how to handle all of it SO well! I hope I will be this good of a mom! ♥️♥️
I’m normally against being super controlling of your kids and what they can and can’t do with their new phones you’ve chosen to give them, but I’ve never seen someone do this do perfectly. I love it. It shows how much you care and how important these things are to keep your kids safe. Will definitely have some barriers for when my kids get their first phones (if I have kids).
I love the parental control and everything you set up. Some people may say it’s extreme but the internet isn’t a safe place for kids. I honestly think 13 is a little young (social media apps ask if you’re 13 or older.) That’s around the age kids start to care about what their peers think of them. It’s not bad it’s a normal thing. Like become important and they try to change themselves to fit in. Many girls I know have developed ed because of what people say to them about their bodies. And sadly there are also dangerous adults out there. I wish people were more aware of how dangerous the internet can be back when I was your kids ages. At the time I felt like I was so old and was ready to be part of the real world. I look back and think how wrong I was. I barely even knew what taxes were😂 Also the internet/social media can be very addicting. Most kids choose playing on their devices over going outside and it’s not good for their developing brains.
@@abbystephens9766 I think kids should have phones, especially when they are in sports/activities. I just think they should wait a little bit to allow them to have access to the internet. My first phone was a flip phone which didn’t have data/internet access at all. We have laws in place telling us how old you have to be to be able to drive, drink, smoke, gamble, s3x. But we have nothing for the internet and that blows my mind.
I wouldve appreciated if I did have the limitations growing up but I now know the best way to take care of my kids. I love the way you do it because you’re not those overbearing and lowkey controlling moms. They’re young and innocent and I can tell how much you care and love them all
This is awesome how you have everything set up. The Internet is a scary place nowadays. If my kids had phones I would do the same. I love how happy Landon is. And I also love the bond Mimi has with the kids and how close you two are. 💕
Hi Jess. I love watching your family because it’s so relatable and so real. You show us the real struggles of being a mum of 7 and your never embarrassed sharing the truth or getting you kids in trouble becuase it is EXTREMELY realistic. I just love how much I can relate to your family and I hope you always continue to make awesome content.
Thank you for posting it’s been a rough week (especially today) nobody had posted and I really needed to decompress so you posted at the exact right time.
Oh my word I thought I knew everything on the parental controls for apple and you just had me enter a whole new world of what I need to do for my girls' phone's!! Lmao. Thank you!!!!
Aww it was so cute when Mimi was like ‘you got a Phone! So cute love this and I totally respect your decision on getting your kids a phone💗🤍🌼💛💗🧡 love ya
I havent been on youtube in almost a decade its amazing yet sad how fast your kiddos got so big !!!! You haven’t aged one bit !!! Not even your husband or mom you guys look great!!!
I love the idea of taking your children to different countries as long as they are willing to put in the work to learn enough of the language to get around. 💗 I was fortunate when I was growing up because my mom went to university in France so we’d go to France and Europe during summer break. I have been Tokyo but not the rest of Japan yet. I love to travel and learn about other cultures and it would be a wonderful way for your children to start to learn another language and then be rewarded with being able to immerse themselves in the culture while on holiday in the future. 💞
You NEED to take the boys to DisneySea adventures in Tokyo! It’s their own Disney resort as well as having Disneyland! It’s for sure the best Disney park there is!
this is so good im so happy for him, it does to a lot when they have after school activities. its scary for a kid and ofc a parent when you cant get ahold of eachother
Thank you for going through all that at the end, we just got our ten year old her first “phone” watch and it’s incredibly locked down and simple…she can call and text mom and dad and that’s it. I know however the next step is a real phone and this info makes me feel way better about that!
Landen was so happy! My family goes for Android and we get our first phone in 9th grade and it is a gabb phone which is very very very very protective and I don't have one yet.
Thank you for setting parental controls, when i was his age i had a phone and i was exposed to so much things. I had a app and i met someome who was wayyy older than me and we would talk all the time and they would ask me for personal stuff .My mom set up parental controls and i still have them to this day (no appstore, allowed websites only) and it can be annoying but its better than nothing.
Hey Jess I took pictures of my teeth with each tray change and saves them in a album to compare week to week, it was so fun to see the changes. I also ordered the custom wires after and the Invisalign retainers.
I didn’t get my first phone until I was able to pay the bill myself, and purchase the phone. That was also 15 years ago, and we had a landline. Our first baby it’s due in less than a month, so when the time comes, we will definitely look into it! We’re in AZ now, have been since June. I really miss Colorado!
Hi Jess! I’m sure the orthodontist told you this but maybe not. Invisalign has the numbers of the trays printed on the back teeth of the trays so they are easy to figure out what trays are what number! 😊
Japan is on my bucket list!! I hope I can go one day!! With all the good food they have I feel like it’s becoming a popular place to want to travel to now.
You know I used to hate this feature on iPhone but I do kinda like it now because I find myself spending more time with friends and family and not on my phone. It also helps me when I am doing homework. It is annoying at first lol but as I get older I get the need for it :)
Speaking of Japan, Disney in Japan is amazing (and the foods are amazing)! You should definitely visit, more Disney Sea than land tho, the land one is kinda old, tbh! Anyway so happy for Landon!
You seem so similar to me with limits to apps, etc. We have the same rule about the internet with my eldest (she's 12) but what I have on Android (Google family link) is option to access the internet but each time she searches a new page, it comes through as a request on my phone that I have to accept before she can visit it which is awesome!
i feel your making right decision. my friend her girls are like 8 and 11. they were having issues on the bus. i think they were getting lost etc. so their mom bought them phones so that they could call their mom or any family member if something happens. its ok for kids have phones for emergency reasons. i didnt get my first phone till i was in 11th grade though. an old flip phone but that was in like 2005 so. i never liked iphones but its good they have parent control stuff on it . my coworker had no clue iphones had feature that u can set to turn off your kids phone after certain time. so she wants to learn how to do that to her sons phone so hes not on it after certain time lol
Thanks for the phone restrictions information! My oldest son(8) is wanting a phone. Im waiting a few more years but all this security and privacy phone stuff was super helpful! Lots of Love from NC🤗💜✌🏼
I love that yall care about there kids but just for me personally I hope they give there kids there privacy as they become teenagers but i love yalls family so much
Japanese is one of the hardest languages to learn I’ve been told. And as someone who’s lived there they are taught English in school and are some know it. Plus they see an American and flip it to English menu in my experience lol. Loved it there I plan to take my family one day. Knowing the language isn’t a need though to travel. I hope they get to go!
Learning a new language is always a challenge, japanese is actually not hard and it brings you many benefits, if you learn the language you can learn Korean super fast, Chinese is a whole different story hahaha (I'm a polyglot) i think it's great Jess gives them motivation because in the long run, learning a new language is one of the best things they can do
Verizon also has Verizon Smart Family which can limit how much data is used when not connected to wifi, limit specific people to be contactable & track their location. Find My iPhone also has that feature though, the tracking. I hope you’ve got multi device protection or AppleCare+!
I think kids are to young to have phones intell high school all parents do is have the kids with phones but I know your a good mom and what your doing is what's good for your family
With all of the stuff going on in schools these days, I think it’s ridiculous that kids DON’T have cell phones. There have too many shootings and other things happening to not have them. Plus there’s kids who have chronic medical issues. And if they’re not near their parents they need to have some way of calling 911 if they need to.
I had no idea that a second language wasn’t staple in all public schools. I live in Massachusetts and have been required to take a second language since 1st grade along with all the other schools around here Edit: In elementary school everyone did Spanish but once we got into middle and high there’s been more and more options
