  • This is piece French Piano Accordion music and the tune is called Réveil Musette, it was written by Andre Lavignac and Andre Cior. It's also published ©1952 in the third book of book 'Musette - Recueil De 110 Succes' Editions Paul Beuscher on P183. Tough it may be older, I do not know any more info.
    I first learned this tune from my Scottish piano accordion music teacher Alastair Hunter in the early 1990's who also enjoyed French accoridon tunes. He must have had a lot of faith in my abilities but at the time I found it too difficult to master and I have played away with it for years. I still enjoy playing with it and still often still throws me. I think it means awakening musette, which would be appropriate as it is quite an awakening trying to learn this music on a piano accordion. I do enjoy playing this type of music but seldom get the chance in Aberdeen, Scotland.

    Wow! this brings back memories. My family had a Dunblane Hydro album from around 1977. On it was this piece played by the late Tommy Ford, a stunning accordionist. I always loved it and still count on it on being one of my favourite pieces if music. Thanks for playing it so well and posting.

    Excellent, some accordionists in Mexico and Texas also cover musettes, they are beautiful 🎶

    Lovely, Charlie. One of my favourite oh-so-French tunes. It's pronounced "rivay" (rhymes with river-way) and means "wake-up bagpipes alarm". Réveil is to wake up, or an alarm (that you wake up to). And a musette is an old French-style bagpipe. Ironic that you've stumbled onto your Scottish roots by way of this song LOL :)
    Encore!

      Thanks for the nice comment and info, the auld alliance between France and Scotland still exists, but I’m not very good at all speaking French. 😂

    I absolutely love this, beautifully played! Each time I hear a French air on the accordion, I think of my grabdpa and my homeland. There is something about this instrument. A big thank you for this moment!

    I have to say, Charlie that French music is way out there ahead of anything else on the accordion. Keep it up!! Do you listen to Jacques Brel? He has amazing accordion backing in some of his songs. Bravissimo.

    Hi Charlie. Have you ever wondered where I got my You Tube Name from? It comes from an old North East Rhyme, many of us kent as bairns:
    "Charlie Chats milkit the cats.
    Gollachy made the cheese.
    The aul wife steed at the back o' the door,
    An hisht awa the fleas."
    Place of origin unknown, but there is a place named Gollachy near Buckie. The Gollachy Burn flows into the sea between Buckpool and Portgordon. Crossed it several times with the No. 35 Stagecoach Bus between Elgin and Macduff. Bonnie Coastline.

    Which what kind of microphone(s) (system) do you pick up the accordion?

    • @CharlieAbel
      @CharlieAbel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In this video I am not using a pick up. I use a Studio microphone. An SE Gemini II. I don't have a microphone in the Saltarelle accordion yet. For internal microphones I use Musictech system. Usually the MT04N with the Sennheiser capsules. They also have a newer version that's anti feedback, I've not tried it yet but might do so when I can. You have to fit these systems yourself or get someone who can. They are pre wired but there are no instructions for fitting. Here's my effort at explaining here on my accordion cloud website. www.accordioncloud.scot/internal-mic-fitting.html.

    Stick with he accordion. Midi bass is needed. The piano starts to annoy. Just a suggestion. Accordion playing nice.
