The Veleta Waltz, by Arthur Morris (London 1858 -1938)
It was composed to go with a dance called the Veleta Waltz. The original music is written for the piano and includes the steps for the dance. You can find it here for free: secondhandsongs.com/artist/11...
There are many different spellings of this tune around in various places, Valeta, Valletta, Velletta etc.
Originally I thought it to do with the capital city in Malta due to the common spelling Valletta. Still, there's a peak in the Nevada desert, Spain with the same name 'Veleta' and also a town in Montenegro.
If there's any connection to any of these place I don't know. There's very little information I can find on Arthur Morris. I know he composed the tune in 1900 along with the dance. It seems he may have lived in London but that might have been just the music publishing company. It is said to be one of the most popular English old-time dances. I think it's a lovely tune, so well done Arthur and I hope you don't mind me playing your bonnie waltz tune.

Great rendition I love it. I was given the original sheet music for piano and transcribed it. I posted a copy of it to MuseScore. While transcribing it I felt it would be a great one for the accordion and when I searched for it I found you playing it! I don't play the piano but will work on the solo accordion version based on yours. Wonderful inspiration!

Thanks for a lovely comment. Glad you like it, there’s a dance for this tune as well but I’m not a dancer 💃 not even sure I can dance very well. Think I saw the instructions on the original sheet music I found online. Some of the old time dancers still do a dance to this here in Scotland. I’ve played for it before but next time I’ll have the correct music 🎵
