- Today we're getting back into some public transportation projects, expanding the current Riverview Transit Authority bus network with the biggest new line so far, serving the airport, dense downtowns, a massive port, and a host of smaller suburbs. We also manage to "fix" the zoning and population reduction issue we've been battling for a handful of episodes! Hope you enjoy!

Again, as in other video. There is a mod that disables zoning on specific streets, That will expand the zones on paralel streets correctly...
That bus line was a great idea. It could be easily implemented with minimal modifications to the existing infrastructure, and no need to build new infrastructure. But Riverview is getting to the size where a new infrastructure project would be necessary.
A proposal to the RTA has been created, outlining the need for such a project, as well as how and what to do. A cross city metro line linking the Airport, going underground for Downtown, before surfacing and running between New Chelsea and the river, with two elevated pedestrian links at the North and South ends of the suburbs reaching to the main road, and two stops in Newport, where it terminates.
The downtown station building will either be located at a recently vacated lot next to the hospital, or conjoined to the existing bus junction at a greater cost. Several other sites near existing transport connections, including major bus and tram stops, are also listed as “candidates” for other metro stops, some of which may not be possible due to budget constraints. Stops will be more spaced out than bus and tram stops, allowing for faster commute.
The Metro train yard will be located either next to the airport, or just past the terminus at Newport.
Edit: The proposal also outlines the benefits to seperating it from the road network: it will not be caught in traffic and will not contribute to it either.
The citizens of new Chelsea petition the mayor to build a rapid transit line to downtown riverviews’s transit hub and to North Port. They say an area as affluent and dense as theirs deserves better than just having a slow single bus line
I think you should make a custom fire department next to the medical center, as realistically you would want things with sirens (fire trucks and ambulances) to drown out a single area; not the entire city. Also being a central area; having a Fire & Rescue headquarters next to a medical service could make a lot of sense.

@@ForthrightSatire288 It might be small to do something super large like the medical center; but he could do what he has done with previous "free space" builds and remove a couple of buildings, allowing for ample space.
I live right between a Hospital, Police Station and Fire Station (as well as a blood bank).
I got so used to it that I barely even notice anymore that some kind of siren drives by my windows once an hour.
Always a great conversation topic when I sit in a meeting and people ask what's going on at my place.
For the empty lot: A huge diagonally (to the road) placed glass skyscraper with a modern plaza and a mini transportation hub to serve the hospital.
I think the city is really missing some kind of big plaza in the city for people to gather, which could take up part of the empty space in the town center.

I think this could also be combined with the other suggestion in the comments of making a big plaza. A big square with a historically/cultutaly ot politicaly important building attached to it would be perfect here in my opinion
I know you don't like building them, but I think a city this large needs more rail infrastructure, particularly a metro. Boston has a few metro lines, and I think it would be a good addition to this build.
I also think the empty lot would make a great space for either a public square, or a downtown baseball stadium. The city is large enough to have pro teams!
I think it’s time for better/faster/higher capacity transportation than buses…. The queue at some of your stops is unbelievable 😂
30:40 - Just because there is no one at a stop doesn't mean it's not used. This is especially true in these stops where one direction has way more people than the other, maybe people are only going down the bus at these places, which means nobody is waiting. Also you can keep in mind the bus will skip the stops if nobody wants to use it.
I think they should add a statistic for number of people using the stop rather than people waiting... maybe there is a mod for that ?

Riverview is back up and running at full capacity 😌 And now that I've defended my bachelor's thesis and I'm basically done with university, your cute cookie cutter neighbourhood is very much tempting me to finally get back into C:S2 after being very busy recently 👀 Though I also was kind of holding out for the economy update...

A subway line next? I think that new bus line should be heavier and go underground.. more capacity and less road traffic involved or at least the central part of the line between downtown Riverview and Chelsea

Which 100K city actually has metro? Light rail would make more sense.
About RTA 7 serving the Downtown Center, I think there are two ways you could go about it:
1) There is nothing wrong with a bus line serving a bus hub twice in different directions. Some bus routes in New York do this, as it's normally a midpoint or important destination on the route.
2) You could split the route at the bus station. It did seem a little long, but of course, this depends on the ridership patterns and how many riders are using the route to go through the Downtown Hub without getting off.
With the demand for more single housing units, it is time to conquer the hills!
Regarding transit, look at the busiest sections of your buslines and perhaps tramify them. And very maybe consider building a metro line, mostly above ground and only underground in the city center :)
Here is a petition not to build a coal power plant ! The City Council must have a vote over the way of producing our electricity ! Rise up citizens against the coal, think for your children and like this comment to make it heard !
The City administration is nearly reaching a BILLION in cash reserves ! Time to use that money.

I think the clinic lot, being so central, could be a great central station/union station for a subway system, which the city could definitely use after reaching 100k population!
You could rename Willow Downs “Sunglow Ridge” just so it doesn’t sound so similar to the other ones
For the "one bus stop" situation at the hub, what I normally do, if I haven't set up the infrastructure to work both as an end station and a pass through station, is simply to have two stops at the same shelter, one each way, if that makes sense. It is really not good for a public transport hub to be missing the ability to go in one direction for a line.
You could put a custom football pitch in place of the medical centre. Could give a historic feel that it was once a long time ago the edge of the city. Would look cool with all the massive skyscrapers in the background.
A custom mall would be a cool idea to deal with commercial and office (but from the looks of it office seems to be good already)at the same time.
For the river you wanted to draine you could make a really long green stretch as a park which is still a border between the suburbs and downtown.
I was thinking that a metro/train line would be built for this transit corridor. Doing it with a bus line over such a distance is crazy for the size of the area and amount of people served in my opinion (my european mind cannot comprehend)
I think you should move the intercity tram deported and roadside deported to the outside of the cbd and use the new space for a new development

Add an above ground metro system. I think a chicago style metrosystem would fit the RMA. The stations in Downtown should be underground. Please add more commuter and tram lines. As a part of a huge transportation project. Maybe Riverview is preparing itself to host a major sports event??? I don't know... However an elevated metro would fit Riverview.
I love these videos so much, this is my favorite CS2 series at the moment and I can't wait to see more. I have an idea for your transit routes too.
Whenever I design transit routes, I try not to make them all too long because sometimes the stops fill up too soon with people all trying to get to different places. To avoid this I usually make a shorter route that covers 1-3 close districts, and a longer route to connect all the short one with a much further away district.
For example if district A, B, and C are major residential districts that share a commercial hub, I'll create a route or two that link the higher density areas in those districts with the commercial hub (as well as nearby parks and workplaces). Then I'll have a longer route that only serves to pick people up from these hubs (making sure it doesn't go into mostly residential areas) and connect them with an ideally larger or more important hub in a further away district.
I like to split the routes into three categories too. Buses (these have the most frequent stops) for more local movements within and between neighboring districts. Trams for districts/towns further away from each other (these can have less frequent stops) and rail for different cities. It's harder to do when you've built your city up to this level but it makes wait times significantly better because there's a kind of transit hierarchy at play for specific needs. When you next update your transit lines, it might help to try and use this approach, that way your routes better serve the needs of different communities.
This might also end up influencing how you choose to zone specific areas, I know once I started doing this I was zoning while keeping in mind how I would like people to move around and how I would like transit to work in new areas I developed.
On this map you have really nice hills - build wind farm there it will generate you a lot electricity. I suggest few turbines + transformer to transfer it into grid.
Upgrade the overcrowded bus lines with trams. Realistic choice for a city that size. Also, you could make the trams run on assigned places that don't get them stuck in traffic
You should definitely add some trams in new Chelsea
I think the new public lot should either be constructed into another service like fire/police deparment or into a museum
That inner city plot of land is the ideal footprint for your cities tallest building. I don’t know what it could be but some super office or focal point.

I think you should put a good ole parking lot across the hospital. It would be hands down the most realistic.
A park in front of the hospital is the best thing, IMO. And a tram stop, too.
A city with a major river cutting through it is a perfect place for a nuclear power plant. Well, maybe not the city itself, but I think there is a food place for it in the airport region, just across the river
From a planning point of view, I would skip the central tram hub. Not only is it very busy, the nearby stop is close enough and gives people more options.
It is kinda funny that there are people moving out of a rural neighborhood because of lack of entertainment lol what were they expecting
As for the empty lot downtown I like the idea of a museum or historical building, seems pretty realistic. Also its about time to put some boats in that empty marina

If it’s an American type city the ex medical centre would become high rise apartments with stores below. Especially in the middle of a metropolitan city

Maybe you can use the empty lot for the tallest building you can find. Like a WTC in the center of the city.

If youre ever gonna do something in that small river, it would be worth draining it now... Takes a while for water to move down slopes or evaporate.
You can assign larger buses to serve that express line to increase its capacity
Suggestion for the empty parcel:
A rent-able auditorium (or in this case, an asset that's commercial and looks like an event center)
It's right at the downtown
Think about the millionaires who'd want to gost their fancy parties on such a marvelous metropolis
Build a park next to the hospital. I bet the people in the hospital would love to spend their time at the park next to them instead at the cafeteria or in their rooms

Great episode! Love how the city grows so fast! Bus line might be the easiest solution to this route’s problem though amount of passengers tells us that some true rapid transit is required there, commuter rail might be a good option, just a thought😅

What a relief
I feel like this city would be greater if you densify every single family home currently built. More tightly packed and scaled properly would look incredible. Housing and shopping stretching into the hills
idea for the area across the airport and other side of the river - you could build a new industrial complex there (like Keralis had build) along with West Harbor.
There are some spots where I think the current layout of the RTA 7 line doesn't make a ton of sense.
1. People going to the airport would not ride the line to the very end, because they can simply get off at the Southend stop opposite of the trainstation and take the pedestrian bridge instead of staying on the bus for another 2 or 3 stops.
2. It seems very awkward that the line doesn't stop at the Transit Hub coming from New Chelsea, which would otherwise add a ton of new connections. Maybe the Transit Hub needs to be slightly modified to add a connection coming from the bridge though.
3. The elementary school in Willow Downs is spaced right between two stops, it would be nice for those children if it was directly served by the line.
Also this line ought to be rapid transit, this bus is going to take forever. But it's 'Murica, so probably that's quite realistic.
i think the empty lot should be occupied by a retired bus depot which has been closed down due to the construction of a new transportation hub next to the train station.
Lots of open developable land over by the airport to satisfy that new demand 😉
I think to curb some of the "lack on entertainment" spam, check your parks info view and just put a few small parks around, for example in some of those suburbs.

Build the highest tower possible in the place of the old clinic, with or without using mods. Make it a monument to your achievements and Whenever you zoom out, we can find it very easily. Make it so tall that any citizen can see it from their backyard
41:39 double up the lines, you would end up with 8 busses on two lines travelling the same route. Could be a good temporary fix.

I think the city needs more culture, a venue, a museum, a church or something of the sort.
The city has a lot of backups on the highway entering the city and coming from the neighboring cities. The problem solver would be a circular highway around the city center and to not use a lot of land build it under the earth.
I think it is time for some entertainment like casinos or sport stadiums, idk if it will fit in the clinic spot but football, hockey or basketball arena would be great

That public transportation usage is insane, though. Riverview is now more akin to a European city compared to an American one.
Here's a sollution for the former medical clinic an obervation tower the citizens really need it and it could change the skyline.
@25:00 I play 100% vanilla, and I've seen homeless people actually living in homes. What I've observed in some low density homes (hard to look at medium and high density). Seniors (especially) with one or more children have a hard time affording rent. As the game progresses (if the children are too young to go to work), the senior will become "homeless" but the home will continue being recorded as the address of record. Then, the senior will anticipate leaving the city. When they do leave the city, the home is repopulated with a larger family. I'm only seeing this rarely, so I'm not sure to what extent this mechanic affects overall population numbers.
If you want something new to add to the city, how about a golf course, maybe out the back of Mill Springs? They complain a lot about not being entertained after all!
How about increasing the capacity of the 6E line with upgrading it to a tram?
Also maybe you could make a 8E line, wich only serves the overcrowded stations of the RTA 7?
Another way would be, like I mentioned before: asign some different bus-types to the lines with more capacity
Do a park in the downtown newly avaiable space! For the patients of the hospital to go to.
Create bus routes from / to neighbouring cities. I see a lot of taxis going in and out of the cities on the highways and that'll help a lot.
