      Hi. I am from Malaysia. Very hot and humid almost the whole year. I have planted many roses from DA and Kordes, but I think Kordes roses are much more tougher and disease resistant.

      Thanks countryboy. To be honest I myself was expecting a more established rose garden and I just didn’t want people to be expectant of the same. Im hoping that people visiting this garden in future can use the word flourishing and packed. I was surprised to see empty beds end of June and a pretty high percentage of newly planted roses.

      @@Jay_Jay Well i got to see Golden Gate and the blooms looked awesome! The size, im so nervous its going eat the arch/yard and house, ive taken out Rose Destruction Insurance . It covers all exterior repairs and any accidental pet/postman or door-to-door salesman eating! Sadly it doesn't cover UPS/DHL OR FED-EX. Well ill leave a note saying to deliver to our east next door neighbors. Hopefully that made you at least smile! Chin up mate!, so maybe they didnt live up to your expectations. I wouldn’t worry about golden gate, it looked fantastic and if anything slightly passed it’s best and needing a prune. But still looked awesome. To be fair that entire spot worked very well.
      And thanks for the kind words, I’m pretty sure I would not have made the slightest bit of difference had they known I was arriving. But to be sure I acted like any other member of the public prior to my arrival.

So perhaps that’s another rose I have to chalk down to her. If so she’s cost me a few de Niro now :) 😂😂 But either way it was the best rose that I saw on the day. 9:55 Wow! Jasmina. Such a wonderful effect! pendulous, nodding racemes of blooms swaying in the wind like a botanical mobile. 20:23 Wow! The petal arrangement is above and beyond most roses. 24:31 Yes, there have been years that hard, hammering rain bruised my Earth Angel blooms, they bruise easily, but I love her dearly just the same. 25:46 I am wondering if there is a Paschmina besides my Paschmina Veranda, because what you are showing us has none of the green blush that Veranda has. Also, Paschmina Veranda patent has recently expired, so perhaps it is not commercially viable for Kordes to promote Paschmina Veranda. Besides, her almost certainty to ball/mummify in prolonged wet weather. Yes, what you are showing us is definitely no Paschmina Veranda. The name Veranda also implies that she remains small for a container on a veranda. The moment that I first saw her, I knew that I must have her, it required 3 years, but miraculously I finally got her via Etsy of all places! Lovely! Thank you for the show and tell. Kordes does not have the imperial gorgeous architecture of David Austin, Kordes looks like emphasis is on production and less on architecture.

    Fantastic video mate. That Courage rose Hina has it and look very beautiful. Rosanna, Madame Anisette and Lagunga caught my attention. White Cloud/Weisse Wolke from Kordes is also very fragrant climber. Balling of Earth Angel seems an issue in moist weather for that you may like to get Geoff Hamilton rose of David Austin looks similar and also parent to Earth Angel.

      @Jay_Jay  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Arrrr it was Hina. Yes I knew I had seen it before but couldn’t remember who. Rose Rosanna looked fab Rakesh. Lovely flower. A hybrid tea like flower on a climber. Lovely colours.
      Yeah Earth Angel it has the fragrance though. I think I will just accept losses on it each year. I have a few flowers that look gorgeous this morning. In a year or two it will be fully mature I think. I’m hoping just a little stronger but we will see. :)

Sad thing is here in the tropics of Belize i cannot get breeds of roses like Kordes or David Austin.. i have to order in which is VERY expensive. We do have a lot of what people here call local roses which do grow well but shatter so easily. Our weather is hot and humid or hot and dry ... some milder cooler months during end of year or beginning of year

    Thank you so much for rolling the dice, as you say, & taking us all along on your magical rose trip. You are so knowledgeable about the Kordes roses, & I'm glad a couple of them followed you home! It does become overwhelming in these places with dozens of roses, each more lovely than the last. The pink rose you were wishing you'd got th name of might possibly---just possibly be Eleganza Pink Enchantment, also Souvenir de Baden-Baden, breeder name KORSOUBA. Your rose is more intensely pink, which is what Heirloom roses (in the States) says this one does in cool weather, turns white in the heat. The little scallops at the edge of the petals made me think it could be this rose. Thank you for the tour!

    It's interesting what you say about being met with less good marketing and the sort of welcome, elaborateness, access and beauty of uk plant nursery gardens. I find in France where some sellers ask you to phone for a visit by appt only only to find you phone, they are hardly forthcoming and say they are not currently open. You really wonder how they earn a living whereas obviously Kordes, Tantau have been breeding, growing for decades. It can be a bit frustrating though if you have travelled a distance and wish to see the specimens and see some rose plants with no label nor can you see them all right up close.

    Hi Jay Jay, looking at Fruity Perfuma Rose …I think they used some of the older DA Variety’s to crossbreed…it has the colour and Flower shape of Benjamin Britten just darker stems and leaves…one of the lighter Pink ones reminds me of Brother Caedfel from the Blossom shape and the scent…you can see it in many newer German varieties….DA simply brought back the scent to the modern Rose breeding….

    I am shocked that you're saying Florentina has blackspot. It never gets a drop of blackspot here in the U.S. where we have horribly hot humid summers. I have mine at the front of my house where it basically stops traffic. It's a showstopper that is loaded with hundreds of blooms for weeks on end. It continues to bloom as long as I remove every last dead bud.

      Hi there. Yes sorry about this. It’s not a rose I have so unsure on its health. But the thanks very much for making this point. I know from experience if blackspot exists in the garden it can spread to even the healthiest of roses. There were a couple of roses I was surprised to see blackspot. Pomponella being one. Mine doesn’t start to get it until late summer usually. Amadeus is another I’ve not noticed blackspot issue before this year. If I saw blackspot here I pointed it out. Florentina is a rose I nearly bought so many times it does look fab and glad yours is doing very well. Thanks once again for making this point as that’s important. Cheers

Jasmina is beautiful. I have looked at Earth Angel myself many times but have been put off by my North Yorks weather, it's very green here especially in the Yorkshire Dales but that's because it rains a lot ! It is a stunning rose though. I think Kordes have a 'mini' Pashmina too a later one much more recent, so that may be what you showed us. A fabulous tour around Kordes gardens, thanks again I'm sure we all really appreciate all your efforts in bringing us these videos, take care.

    Thank you for the video. I am just wondering why they aren't cared for a little better? I'm sure they could hire someone or a few people to deadhead and clean up the roses. All the dead blooms took away from the beauty of these roses.

    Hello JayJay, Thanks a lot for sharing this travel, I’m very much happy to see the head quarter of Kordes. It’s listed in my dream travel list together with Rosen Tantau. There is also a big rose garden in the north with mixed brand roses and they have even a hotel to accommodate guest. I loved both Kordes and Rosen Tantau roses and I feel blessed that I can directly order from them. Courage rose from Kordes Eleganza collection is stunning, I saw this rose on the catalogue 2019 but now on your video, it’s really beautiful. Another rose caught my attention is the pink rose in the last part of this video, it is so pretty, it could be 'Flora Colonia' a bush rose from 2014 or 'Home & Garden' a garden bed rose from 2001. I will call and check it from Kordes because I really like it and goes along with 'Pashmina' rose colour. Rosanna is calling me, she is also very beautiful as a climber, the flower looks more like a hybrid tea rose. Good choice from the lady working there, 'Garten Princessin Marie Jose’ aka 'Fruity Parfuma' is a delight from the colour of the leaves and the flowers. 🌹🌹

    • @Jay_Jay
      @Jay_Jay  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh Gemma if you could speak to them regarding the elusive pink I would much appreciate that and maybe some others would appreciate it also. Rosanna yes I really liked this one. Great colour and form. And I’m very happy with courage. Flowers appear to be long lasting :)

      @@Jay_JayHi Jay Jay, I just communicated with a nice lady from Kordes and she said that pink rose could be 'Amica', a shrub rose. I like it, it goes together with Pashmina, a shrub rose too!🌹

    What a beautiful rose nursery! I don't have any Kordes roses, just only David Austin roses. My local garden center does have a few Kordes roses and I will look at them this weekend. I love that variety Fur Elise. I'm fighting blackspot with weekly spraying of neem oil. Good luck with the Courage rose you purchased Jay Jay, it's really beautiful. Happy gardening from Kentucky, James

    • @Jay_Jay
      @Jay_Jay  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi James. Sorry to hear about your blackspot issue. Sometimes it does just happen. If the weather conditions are right, a rose catches it, it will then go on to spread to even the healthiest of roses I’ve found. Fur Elise another rose I’ve not seen before but a rose that drew my attention. :)

    • @JamesBrown-i2e
      @JamesBrown-i2e 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Jay_Jay I went to my local nursery and the Kordes roses they have are the varieties that are bred with a collaboration with Star Roses and Plants. They did not have Fur Elise, but I found a rose "Plum Perfect" which is a compact pretty purple similar to Fur Elise. I'm probably going to put it in a pot since it's a compact rose. Have a great weekend Jay Jay!

    So many roses, so many names Jay Jay. Lovely to see them all and compare and hear your opinion on scent. Didn't look like you had much company in the garden. Didn't even see a rabbit! I've got to the Aloha now. So, there is more than one Aloha? Mine's nothing like that. The rain certainly hasn't done some of the lovely blooms a favour sadly. A very useful reference video. 'Courage' certainly is a stunner. Your time and hard work editing much appreciated. Cheers! P.
