  • I was all set to use the router on cutting out the guitar rosette and now I am faced with an unexpected problem. How can this happen? I do not want to put my acoustic guitar building on hold for a week.

    I just love your stuff - your honesty and sense of humor are refreshing. I’m still having trouble with the fact that you don’t like coffee. I generally don’t like people who don’t like coffee...but for you (and my husband) I’ll make an exception. 😋

    Well, you know the quickest way to find something is to stop looking for it. I definitely think the shell, but that's just my personal preference.
    Great video, have some tea and a biscuit and unwind,

    My friends refer to loosing something, the way you describe as a senior moment. Don't feel bad; we all go through it. My philosophy is when you pass 60 years of age, two things happen. One is you forget things. And I forget the second thing.......Don't worry, they'll turn up - although usually just after you hit the Order button to replace them. It just shows you are human. I could give you my formula for finding things, but I believe it only works for me. Just hang in there. They will turn up. Take care and keep the faith my friend.

    I'm sorry for your loss Monty. I usually stop looking and do something else or look for something different and what was lost usually shows up. When you do get them, I think the shell with the black trim would look great!

    Hey Monty! these things happen. Something very important to do is, breathing in and out and then, If I were you I would try to find those bits. Take your time before you buy others, cause it can happen that after you return from the store with the new ones, then you might find the old ones, lol...

    • @MontyMcKinnon
      @MontyMcKinnon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that could easily happen to me. I'll keep looking.

    I lose stuff all the time and find it in unexpected places. They’ll turn up!!
    I vote black-white-black perf, then shell, then white-black-white. It’ll be beautiful. Now I’ll play my Taylor and reflect on where you might find your bits.

    • @MontyMcKinnon

    I hate when I do that too. I'm forced to keep all my bits in labelled plastic sorting bins like you have on the back toolbox beside the orange bins. It should turn up.
    Enjoy the tea and thank you Monty.

    sit and meditate on the object. breathe, drink some tea, envision how it feels in your hands. Listen to its energy. Drink some tea. it will come home. Give it a try. could be a fun video.

      It's difficult even as a builder. ⅛" 3.2mm etc. Drives me crazy.

  • @GaryForgingOn

    I am not an expert on guitars. I would have to see pictures of each finished version of the rings to know what they look like. So I guess my input will not matter. You will find those bits as soon as your new ones arrive. ;) That's my luck anyway.

    Aww dang! I so sympathize. Whenever I need phillips head I only find flat head in the drawer and whenever I need flat all I find are phillips! A few days ago I lost my keys (I never lose my keys), eventually finding them in my idle shoe. I have a specific and precise location for my keys at all times! How do they end up in a shoe!!!? 🤷‍♂️ I hope you find your tools Monty. Being a CNC operator I’m very familiar with the expense of precision router tools.

    • @MontyMcKinnon
      @MontyMcKinnon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Email me if you think there is a CNC software that I could use on some of the guitar parts. And who makes an affordable machine that I could use for building guitars faster. Thanks.

    What about on top of the boxes under the side benches, under the miter saw, jointer or any other movable tools you might not keep on the benches full time.

    I've learned that the more that you continuously keep looking for something, the less likely you're going to find it... Let whatever your looking for go, at least for now and then when your not looking for it, you'll then find it, lol but I know the wagon wheel design would have been amazing, but maybe that layout design was needed for a different guitar! So I would suggest trying a different layout!

    • @MontyMcKinnon

    This happens because you have stopped believing in the tooth fairy. Kids believe in the tooth fairy and when they lose a tooth, that's when the fairy visits them and makes them happy. So now you need to start up believing again, then the fairy will visit you and fix everything.
    Don't they teach people this in guitar maker's school? 😋

    • @MontyMcKinnon
      @MontyMcKinnon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MontyMcKinnon Hi Monty, i booke you like the book. The tooth fairy comment probably bounced into my head from Terry Pratchett's book, The Hogfather. Believing in the tooth fairy had a part to play there. As you guys go into winter it's time to get the movie, it's a total scream.
      And i hope you find the router bits.
