    In school now for small engine mechanics, I already drive a semi truck (15 years) and do stone masonry, but figured that rebuilding engines would be a good third job lol. Thanks for the videos, they help apply book knowledge and theory to application. I'm currently on learning wiring and ignition systems and rewiring harnesses adding quick connect adapters for aftermarket auxiliaries. Professional Mechanics is a lot harder than people think, one thing I would ask is a cost break down of; vehicle vs parts vs time investment vs end result of sale. I plan on completely rebuilding vehicles; atv,ski,boat exc. One at a time as I have the time and giving each one the proper care not getting in a rush and also doing the aesthetic side with hydro dipping/painting/vinyls.

    Sad that the buyer was disappointed, but props to you for taking it back. Things happen, and it does mean a prop and wear ring? Haven't finished the video yet but just thinking ahead.
    Would love to see more jet ski restores.
    The curse of the ten mm! Yes any of us who wrench on anything have experienced this!

    Good on you for doing the right thing....not many folks out there that have integrity. I have a 98 GP1200 and I have kinda let it waste away the last few years...been spending more time on my boat. You have motivated me to get it back in good running condition. Probably going to be a nice winter time project for me. Thanks for the videos on the ski...very helpful even if I already know how to do some of the stuff.

    Mate absolute legend I've been worried about buying a ski but your tutorials are on point and informative. And honestly once your channel gains traction you'll have plenty of people to ride with. Hell if you're near the Moreton bay area of Queensland I'll hit ya up once I'm up and running

    What happened was from sitting up they just get worn and the first day out you wrote it they were able to hold and then it probably blew them out but it will take you about 30 minutes to take the plate off replace the seals and you are back on the water don't let anybody tell you different don't pull the pump don't waste any money it's a very simple fix

  • @shannonwilliams601
    @shannonwilliams601 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is a very simple fix I have worked on over 200 of these and have been working on two-stroke jet skis for 25 years I run a professional shot all you have to do is pull the ride plate in between the red plate there are two ribbon seals you can even use the little door stick-on insulation for a house and it works great it won't cost you more than about $8 to fix the ski very simple fix all that is happening is it is pulling air between the ride plate and those little seals very easy fix

      Is it worth it to buy a flooded jet ski from copart?

    • @shannonwilliams601
      @shannonwilliams601 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Rasheedrashad818 depending on what parts you are looking for if it was flooded the motor is probably no good it will have to be rebuilt it just depends on how much they are asking and is it worth messing with

      Going to look at a 2002 xlt, what should I look for to tell if it's a good ski?

    • @1MichaelJones
      @1MichaelJones  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@scottcox9108 start by looking at how well it has been cleaned on the out side, even before that look at what the place is like where you go to look at it. If there is rubbish everywhere then that could be a good guide as to how the seller looks after their belongs.
      The engine should start very easily, feel if it’s warm before you start it. If there is a cold start issue the seller may have warmed it up prior to hide that.
      Listen for funny noises in the engine, check the engine bay for oil residue. Ask what oil mix the seller runs. When starting make sure that the engine sounds even, if it turns over and has a faster point in the crank cycle this can often mean low compression in a cylinder.
      It’s always ideal to use or demo something before you but it, but of course that not always an option.

    Should have done a video of it in the water when you got it back so we could see the cavitation. If it was a legitimate complaint or what. Nice you fixed it but missed an opertunity for a video of how it ran.

    • @1MichaelJones
      @1MichaelJones  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I know Jeff, I did think about it however I’m about 1.5hrs from the water. I have another ski project which is starting and I have a feeling it will be the same. Stay tuned and I will make sure I do one.
      I did a bit of searching on TH-cam to see if anybody had posted a POV video of the effects and a real-time display of how much it limits the skis ability to move… nothing really came up that I thought explained it properly.

      It’s such a bad situation, and really annoying. It’s a pity that people are not more responsible with what they’re selling. I hope you’re able to fix it and get back on the water soon.

    I have the same ski and I'm having a problem with it won't let me go over 2 or 3 rpm when i give it gas just wondering if you know what that problem might be ?

    • @1MichaelJones
      @1MichaelJones  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like a fuel issue if the engine won’t rev over 3000rpm. Could be a blocked fuel filter, carburettor out of adjustment.
      Does it die out at 3000rpm or just sits there and won’t rev higher?

    • @1MichaelJones
      @1MichaelJones  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jay409.12j so it sounds like it’s starving for fuel. I would check your filters and then look at the jets in your carbys.
      If you have converted it to premix fuel it could have gone stale and blocked the jet.
      Try looking into the filters 1st and let me know. If your struggling to get to them, you could try and hook up a spare tank to the inlet on the carb to ensure it’s getting clean fresh fuel

    • @jay409.12j
      @jay409.12j ปีที่แล้ว

      @@1MichaelJones well no i haven't converted it but it's most definitely not getting the amount of fuel it should be getting to even start it i have to spay starting fluid into the Injectors then it would keep starting but before then it won't start even playing with the choke it still want start without spaying the fluid in. So now I'm trying to just figure out why it don't go ove 3,000 rpm
