    I have seen a lot of Fifth Wheel ramps bolted on and leaning to the side. I have seen Fifth Wheel Ramps welded to the frame, that seem to hold up better. What's the thought on this?

      As a mobile welder I have only done weld on ones. I buy 2.5 inch OD tubing .25 inch thick and cut it across like how they did. Plate the end and weld it right on the frame. I’ve never welded it that close to the fifth wheel before but it all depends what kind of trailer is being loaded. The guy $450 to do these what a steal. I charge $500+ and only use tubing

      It's illegal to weld on semi truck frame. They may put you out of service for that !

      Tony C. If it's illegal to weld on truck frames why do they allow stretching truck frames by welding a piece in the frame? It's done all of the time

      @@delbutler885 I have no idea and this stupid rule about frame welding make no sense because welding is behind the fifth wheel l so doesn't affect anything anyway

    I've owned many trucks with these and this is not how there done. These are ok for avg trailer. But not for detachable neck. I've pull cozad trailers and have for 35 years.

      What king of ramps were on your trucks?

    • @Peterbilt359
      @Peterbilt359 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Valeriu Moscalu We keep the width of ramp as wide as the outside of fifth wheel. So the guide rollers don't hit the fifth wheel. We extend tho the plate. Sometimes weld a small plate on fifth wheel. Bend the ramp at rear of frame down so rollers can pickup if there low. Your base mounts are great and very strong. I put my plate in center and take ramps to it. Guys in California leave them back and slide plates all the time I live in extreme weather and never slide plate and don't cross state lines so I don't really care what's on front axle
