The People's Acorn was unveiled in Áras an Uachtaráin today

Dearcan na nDaoine - The People’s Acorn, was unveiled in Áras an Uachtaráin today by President Michael D Higgins.
Part of the State 1916 centenary commemorations, the art sculpture by Rachel Joynt contains a time capsule that will not be opened till 2116.
Children from 7 schools around Ireland contributed their thoughts and wishes for Ireland’s future inside the capsule, as did older people who wrote down their thoughts and memories.
