Even before the "announcement" they joked that sal had to make it all about him and then when Howard said he was retiring he instantly started talking about how it ruins his life 😆
Damn man, I feel bad for laughing once he started crying. Hes torn up but still so grateful for Howard for giving him the opportunity. This is the kind of employee and friend that you need
Yep. Learned the hard way. Didn't save up, lost my job, house, and basically had a sofa to sleep on for about two years. Now I'm back on my feet and saving every penny I can.
I’ll never forget this because when this was live I just turned the radio on when this started, and I got pranked too. I had been listening to Howard since I was like 12 and couldn’t believe he was quitting
Oh man this has to be top 10 material of all time. The quiet in that room from everybody else... that kind of cooperative effort is what put men on the moon.
You gotta give Fafaflooey a lot of credit for this by producing on the fly and giving howard the heads up that he had this opportunity. Nice one Gary. But your first pitch was terrible, fyi.
Yes. Gary fully admits that he can't pitch in front of a crowded stadium or a studio audience. However, if there's no one around within a 1.7 mile radius, he's Nolan Ryan.
When Howard said it was a joke even I smiled. It’s also amazing how much he’s changed, he was so rude and crude back in the days but now he’s so mellow and nice.
One of the most classic, best moments in show history since moving to Sirius! I remember listening to that live and laughing my ass off! I love all those guys and I truly felt bad for Sal.
It makes total sense to Sal that Howard would break the news he's leaving to him specifically.. Just to make sure he's ok with his decision.. It's all about Sal and how he feels.
I know right??? Everyone is there but, he just wants to talk it over with Sal? Also the fact that Sal was a stockbroker but doesn't know wtf contingency means is REeeeeally alarming!
Thank you SO much for uploading this! I have had to dig for it so many times to remember how much Sal did not have a plan for his future. I bet he still doesn't.
Im in the other side of the world and its just recently i got hung up on Richard and Sal prank calls compilations that were sitting here in yt all these time. In these day and age of YT and internet shows, they are the ones who made me enjoy listening to radio again. Man... I feel for Sal here. 😭 But his a$$ was late so he deserve this. Man.. how i wish we got sirius radio here.
Another reason Howard is the greatest. Poor Sal! Really cool to see how much love he has for Howard. He even appreciates that he deserved every inch of that by working for him. Never leave, Howard!
When I first realized I could get Sirius in my car and thought finally I could listen to this Howard Stern show, I went on TH-cam to check it out. This was the first thing I’d ever watched and I was hooked.
This is one of the first gags I heard when I first started listening to Stern. It's a brilliant way to punish Sal for coming in late. This gag, and of course listening to High Pitch gawk over Donnie Wahlberg, hooked me. Love the Howard Stern show! Sal's brain should be studied by scientists.
Howard could care less...he is billionaire and if he cared he could give staff some personal money as a thank you but he wouldn't give one penny...trust me he could care less about anyone but himself.
Why don't you give your extra money to the poor? You have more then you need. Only successful people are responsible for poor people? But when it's something that effects the rich "you shouldn't care about them,it doesn't effect you if your not rich" but they're supposed to care and parent yall
"I won't leave anyone high and dry. Letters of recommendation..."
Now that's a good joke.
Me n my hubz both looked at each other when listening in the car like... .....wha???
"Thank you"

How much do you think he makes, but he doesn't know the word contingency?
Finally the actual clip. Listened to the audio only for years. This is classic.
Instant classic!!!!
The tears in Sal's eyes change everything lmao
If you search TH-cam the clip is all over the place.
3:18 silently cutting to Robin and the guys trying not to laugh while Sal contemplates his whole future. Hysterical
That’s the funniest shot ever 😂😂🔥

The most remarkable is JD doesn’t hoot or laugh as he does about anything and everything 😮
Yes!
Even before the "announcement" they joked that sal had to make it all about him and then when Howard said he was retiring he instantly started talking about how it ruins his life 😆
Don't you know? It's all about Sal.
That's amazing lmao
He actually made it about his children but point taken
God forbid the bread maker is concerned he will be jobless in 1 week and wont be able to feed his family
because he is on the spot. he is getting pranked.
Damn man, I feel bad for laughing once he started crying. Hes torn up but still so grateful for Howard for giving him the opportunity. This is the kind of employee and friend that you need
You think that's why he was crying? Maybe it had more to do with his income coming to am end?
Be fair now. Sal and Richards pranks and bits have contributed greatly to the shows comedic value. Their prank calls are legendary.
What will Sal do in 5 years?

He makes prank calls for a living and he’s the easiest person to prank on the show.
The rollercoaster of emotions he goes through is so dam funny to watch
I heard this live and was late going into work just waiting for Sal’s reaction.
Kinda funny how you made yourself late to hear what happens to him because he was late😂😂
