I like that 90% of the music trivia was pre-1980s and a quarter of that was about the band The Cars. I do love Hank. Had he not died right around 9/11 perhaps the show would have done a nice tribute.
According to what I’ve read he passed on September 4, 2001 and the next day was largely a tribute to him. Also there is supposed to be a E! True Hollywood story “Hank The Angry Dwarf” that aired on February 20, 2002.
I have listened to this several times....but it is even MORE amazing to watch this. Hank was awesome. Miss him. Sorry he is gone. RIP sir. You are missed.
THE CLARENCES I visited the Lizzie Borden house a few years back. While there , I stopped at Hank’s grave & paid my respects. He indeed was a great guy. Still missed !
It seems like XM has really cracked down on Howard Stern videos on TH-cam. I'm really happy that these classics are being uploaded on the official channel.
I miss these days. Some of the best times of the show. This was especially good seeing Hank get praised for once too, and it was nice seeing him enjoy his moment. Miss you little guy... S.I.P.
i screamed SUGARLOAF at Gary!!!! even though i was over 18 years too late and even if it were live, he couldnt hear me ... Still ... i screamed out, SUGARLOAF!!!!! >_
My favorite Wack Packer, I heard this live and enjoyed every second of it. RIP Legend, I'm sorry for the hand you were dealt. But on this day, it seemed that your sadness was gone for those 10 minutes.
Hanks ability to recall information is awesome. Given a few minutes, we all might be able to come up with answers. But this dudes recall ability is crazy fast. Its Jeopardy champion fast. RIP my man.
I’ve been a rock fan my whole life and constantly engorge myself in trivia like this but holy fuck, Hank knows so much it’s not even funny. It puts into perspective how much information is out there for us to learn; this is my own field of “expertise” and I didn’t know half of this shit!
What's truly amazing is that he's pretty much plastered and he can remember all of this while plastered. There us alot of shit that I Know but I'll forget as soon as I start to drink
"im just teasin ya gary" idk why but that seemed so honest and genuine. I feel like from that one sentence you can tell Hank was a kind soul
This warms my heart..seems like a good dude, with deep seated issues with his self worth. I’m glad he got to kick ass for a day, thanks to this show.
I can tell he felt some pride. Made me feel good for him.
drumzmagoo rip
Assy McGee?
drumzmagoo yeah Gary really has this special day coming 😂😂😂😂
Rip my drunk Dwarf.
Hank was a genuinely good guy. Just got dealt a bad hand and upbringing in life. Rip bro
Trojans04 and that used him
As bad a time as Hank had, he sure gave us listeners a lot of happiness and laughs.
How did he die
Yea he is a good guy.
DaGoat850 i believe it was brain issues from the alcohol
What a great moment in this great saga that is "THE HOWARD STERN SHOW"
R.I.P. Hank.
Sorry, but when did Hank die?
High Plains Drifter how did he die?
WAS the "Howard Stern Show" it's just a job for him now punch the clock and go home. God Bless for all the money he makes, but his show sucks.
Had a feeling
must scroll down

rock dwarf down
time to wear a frown
for the saddness
of a little clown
High Plains Drifter how’d he die?
Hank asking Gary to lift him back on the chair was priceless.
I loled so hard
david martignetti In the beginning he said, “it’s takin all I have to stay on this chair right now!” 😂
It's like Garry showing a side of sportsmanship in a way lol although bank did ask him instead of Garry asking if he needs a hand but still
"He's kicking my ass AND I have to pick him up!"
“I’m only teasing”
-hank
Such a nice meaningful Guy
He wasn't a stupid guy, you can tell he was proud of himself. Rip Hank
I heard this live. Can’t believe it’s almost 20 years.
I remember when Hank passed, Beetle Juice was almost in tears.
Same here
Is there a video of beet finding out?
I remember this also...
The little head nod with the smirk that Hank gives at 8:06 warms my heart. This was his shining moment.
I too am a fan of Frank Zapper and the Muddahs of Imvention.
Wow mister you're so smart. You're just putt funny with how you mock the words of a deceased drunken midget from 20 years ago.
hahahahahaha
Lol!!
Hey, dats how we say it in Queens.
Jack Grattan Frank Zappa and the mother’s had the biggest place in town. That line in the song always cracks me up
Love how pumped Howard gets for Hank's right answers. RIP pal
My sister went to high school with Hank. I used to see him all the time at Foodtown in East Brunswick when I was a kid. RIP.
Any stories that you know about him in his younger days?
When he die ?
Hank passed away 4 months after this. He was the absolute best!
One of my favorite clips. Hank was so damn impressive.
Emily!
Emily V you are so damn impressively fine
Yes he was. The more drunk he got the smarter he became.
Hank’s finest hour. He was a kind little dude, unlike most of the other wack packers.
Flat out the BEST Wack Pack Member of All Time! I miss the little guy. R.I.P. Hank
This was Hank the dwarfs absolute best performance
Golden-era Hank. We miss ya buddy.
🙏🙏🙏
“Only teasing ya gary” 😿
thats how u know when someone is a good person
Hank being humble was so sweet and genuine....RIP Hank 🙏
Hank was like a bright star in the sky that was brilliant for a brief moment in time.
I ❤️ Hank! Met him once as he literally walked across the countertop in a bar in philly around 1998.
He’s a dwarf. He drinks, and he knows things. He’s Tyrion Lannister.
If I could pin this comment,I would haha. Well done
Joey urban
BURN EM ALL
And he's a bit of a dink. Given the actor who plays the role this is simply spooky!
Joey urban BITCH!
Tyrion Lannister is Hank the angry drunken dwarf! Get it right! Pay homage to the legend!!
Lol!!!!!
“Look at him hitting the bottle, so proud” 😂
I like that 90% of the music trivia was pre-1980s and a quarter of that was about the band The Cars. I do love Hank. Had he not died right around 9/11 perhaps the show would have done a nice tribute.

didnt he die the day before 9/11?
I didn't know this. I'm listening to 2008 shows and they just mentioned it (Oct 08). Howard said he died like a week before so he got less attention.
They did a tribute the very next day, his mom also called in.... You're on the internet, you can search things quite easily...
Is it me?, or was that endearing as shit when Hank asks Gary to schooch him back up in his chair?
Dude same. A year later and I had to scroll a while to find this comment. And he did it no problem.
I loved this era of Stern, I miss these times!
Hank died the same year 😭
What a cool guy Hank was! Thanks for this gem of an upload!
Every time I have a drink, I raise my glass to Hank. He was the best. And credit where it's due, Gary did really well.
I have listened to this several times....but it is even MORE amazing to watch this. Hank was awesome. Miss him. Sorry he is gone. RIP sir. You are missed.
Hank = Legend
Every dog has its day...and Hank was a bad-ass pitbull that day.
Thank you guys for uploading this clip! Man, memories are rushing back. Can't believe Hank has been gone for almost 20 years. R.I.P. Hank!
Hank was one of my favorites on the stern show. I remember being a kid watching him in the dentist office drunk and laughing my ass off 😂😂 RIP man!
Wow. 18 years to the day. Miss you, Hank....
Super impressive! I knew maybe half of them. Gary is good but Hank was a savant.
What does savant mean? The more I ruminate about words of this magnitude, the more indecisive I become.....
I knew only 3 or 4 out of all, I thought I would have guess more correct.
And the way he didn't even think about it was amazing. He could just whip them off.
Glad to see classic stuff like this on here
MR B sweet pic! Xxx🙌
Hank vs. Gary in Rock-n-Roll trivia is the first Howard Stern episode I ever watched. I've been hooked ever since. RIP Hank
Gary singing at 5:14 reminds me of Howard’s impression of him. “Green eyed laydeh bawf.” 😂
"Look at em hittin the bottle" 😂😂
All of these beautiful comments have made me tear up hank truly is loved and missed.
Hank died in his sleep 1 week prior to 9/11/01. RIP Hank
I got teary eyed bc he passed away but he impressed everyone that was great , amazing even . RIP hank. I was proud watching this for him.
Hank: the pride of Fall River, Massachusetts!!! Long live his memory. xoxo The Clarences
THE CLARENCES more than Chris herren?
THE CLARENCES I visited the Lizzie Borden house a few years back. While there , I stopped at Hank’s grave & paid my respects. He indeed was a great guy. Still missed !
Is this humorous or true? Seems like he would have been a pretty interesting guy!
Holy crap it's you guys
I've been trying to find this clip since Artie mentioned it and I'm so glad you finally uploaded it.
It seems like XM has really cracked down on Howard Stern videos on TH-cam. I'm really happy that these classics are being uploaded on the official channel.
"He's as drunk as he's even been!... No! 😂
Golden era. Thanks for posting.
Hank was my favorite whack packer
Maad impressive! I thought I knew rock but he would’ve blown me out the water. Rip Hank!!
I’ve seen a lot of Howard Stern videos. This is by far the best.
Howard Stern: The P.T. Barnum of radio! Rest in peace, Hank!
the greatest guest of them all. Period. rip..
Hank was a gem when he was on the show. His music knowledge was amazing! I wish he was still around and play win Fred’s Money “music edition”.
Gary has always said Hank was his favorite wack packer. “He was a great guy, but he just got dealt a horrible hand”.
I ❤️ and miss Hank
Love how Gary helped him midway...we laugh at him but he is a great guy
I'm a music nerd and answered most of the questions correct. But Hank is the legend. No one could touch the little guy in this arena.
He died 5 months later. RIP Hank.
Thanks for the uploads HSS team.Means a lot up here with crap radio.
Going Yooper They should be uploading full segments instead of these short ass clips we’ve heard 100 times over.
One of the greatest bits.
Wow, the poor little man had incredible music trivia knowledge. I figured he wasn't long for this world.
I didn't realize he had died that long ago.
Hank....THE GOAT OF TRIVIA.
RIP
I prefer Gary’s face in lower quality
I only like when it’s filmed with a toaster
Amazing!!
Hank the music trivia machine!!!(ma-kine)
R.I.P Hank!❤
Hank "I drink and I know things" Lannister
I love this era of the show!
Gary: I don’t know that one.
Hank: hold my vodka.
R.I.P Hank. He was a great guy
Love Hank. Miss you Hank. Thank you Howard for introducing the world to him.
Great post. Hank was impressive as all get out. RIP, Big Guy.
Wow !! I was beyond impressed with Hanks knowledge and more so with the speed in which he answered....Who Knew !!! Sleep with the Angels Hank...
That was really amazing knowledge especially considering they didn’t have quite the internet resources we have today.
God I miss all of the old clips that existed on TH-cam a few years ago!!!! BRING BACK THE GOLD
Stern forever replay value thx for this rip hank
I miss Stern on Q107 in Toronto, I would listen every morning on my way home from night shift.
Hank was gold.
This was before the internet was mainstream
Peter Drinklage😎 Love when Hank and Beet argue
Hanks ability to recall information is awesome. Given a few minutes, we all might be able to come up with answers. But this dudes recall ability is crazy fast. Its Jeopardy champion fast. RIP my man.
"i can't win now cuz he's not gonna miss any ...boff"
Nothing but love for Hank, R.I.P.
damn, i miss this time in life.
One of a kind. Truly missed. Thanks for posting
I love that Gary has to pick him up and put him back in the chair like a parent has to do with their kids hahahahahah
I’ve been a rock fan my whole life and constantly engorge myself in trivia like this but holy fuck, Hank knows so much it’s not even funny. It puts into perspective how much information is out there for us to learn; this is my own field of “expertise” and I didn’t know half of this shit!
This guy was such a character, great guest... RIP
He was such a music historian. VERY impressive 👍🏼
that was a classic. Loved seeing this again
Best guest and whack packer ever!!!!!
My all time fav stern clip
Easily one of the best moments on the shows history.
Hank was the GREATEST WACK PACKER OF ALL TIME! He was the best. Miss him.
It tripped me the hell out when Hank answered the Pearl Jam question and they said "Wow he knows current"...
Hank was the absolute best part of the show in my opinion. Miss the little guy.
Hank >>>>>>> Eric the Midget
Damn you little fella...stop tugging at my heart strings
What's truly amazing is that he's pretty much plastered and he can remember all of this while plastered. There us alot of shit that I Know but I'll forget as soon as I start to drink
Good ole days of radio
