This show felt like a proper Game Awards show
Was nice to see the winners being allowed to speak as long as they want and not being played off by music either!
Copy that.
First time watching Bafta and wow, this show is so much better that The Game Awards! No flood of trailers, no bulk awarding, no segments that have nothing to do with awards - just the celebration of excellent games and the people who are making them.
I'm just going to view "The Game Awards" as a show that celebrates games and showcases future games, and "The Baftas" as my defacto game award ceremony. It was so much better put together with that in mind.
All the different personalities of the winners/voice-actor/developer/ with their different vibes/speech/presentation help adding to the charm of the show too. All of these feels personal and presented in honoring of the developers y'know 🥰
The winner for Sound demonstrate how important is to give proper time to speak their minds to the awarded
This was a great watch. I'm looking forward to watch next year's BAFTAs with the Allies!
I love an awards show that respects the thing it's rewarding. Well done BAFTA 👏
Article came out today saying that BG3 is the first game to ever win Best Game at the 5 major annual awards shows.
Now this is how a proper awards show should be presented. The focus has rightfully got to be on the nominated games, their hardworking developers and support teams, and the speeches of the winners.
Kudos to BAFTA for getting everything so right that the (preposterously-named) GAME awards got so wrong.
And finally congratulations to you guys for providing such honest and entertaining commentary all throughout! Well done!!
This was an incredibly fun show, thanks for the coverage
Geoff could learn a few things from the BAFTAs. This is how an award show should be. Focus on the awards, let people have more than 10 seconds to speak, and maybe you can find some way to show your trailers too
Phil Wang such a great hosting choice for this.
It was a great show. Great vibes, great categories, good rhythm, respect for creators… This with the musical performances of the TGA and maybe just a couple of trailers would be fantastic.
This was such a great watch
Geoff keighley needs to watch this show to see how to make an awards show
"Who would give GOTY to a remake?"
*laughs in Rebirth*
because Rebirth is a reimagining, not a remake. It is pretty easy to differentiate a port, a remaster, a remake or a reimagining
@@user-fg9et1cv1eits still a Remake.
They were making a reference to themselves when they gave Resident Evil 4 GotY.
"we want to make more viewfinder so please give us money".
That sentence , that genuine moment was the highlight of the night for me.
Loved the vibes of this show.
Good show!
I think the numbering of the Awards might legit be because of games winning multiple awards, for example let's say BG3 won Award 2000 and 2007, Award 2000 is for Narrative and award 2007 is for Best Game, so in order to not mix up the Awards and ensure each department of a Dev Team gets the right award they assign a number.
Final Fantasy 16 wasn't even nominated for best music? That's crazy!
SNUBBED AF
Because it would have beat BG3. This show was BS and this body is a joke. It was pretty obviously political.
@roughlyadequate6165 oh please... ff16 music is not that special.
@@Einomar Then why did it win best music and best sound at both big award events for the year? Golden Joystick and Game Awards. How does it WIN both of those and not even get nominated at this event? Its just naked bias. Even the gang was confused that XVI was missing. Sorry but those western games listed have some of the most forgettable music ever. No one will think of any of those tracks after playing, meanwhile singles and OSTs from XVI selling like crazy. It broke the top 30 for digital download albums in both Japan and the UK. This was BS.
@@roughlyadequate6165 XVI did not win both at The Game Awards. I thought that all the games nominated were worthy and BG3 absolutely deserved this award just as any other nominee.
I'm glad, that Viewfinder got some recognition, I love that game!
This is how its done!
Ff16 not even getting a nomination in best music or leading performance role is crazy.
No it isn’t.
The Wonderful 101 wasn’t nominated for anything ever, yet deserves to snatch every award possible.
So it’s fine.
I keep getting the feeling that people want to see Ben Starr awarded moreso than the Clive performance. I like the guy, it doesn't change the fact there were plenty of more impressive performances last year.
@@lukemoonwalker8444 Go play Spider-man 2 and then FF16 and come back and tell me they didn't give the award to the black dude because of "diversity and inclusion". The voice acting of Miles Morales is not even close to the voice acting of Clive.
@@WhoshotmyrifleDoesn't matter. He wasn't nominated. So there's no need to go back and play FF16.
There was probably some vote splitting with the BG3 nominees. No one cares about your DEI boogeyman. It's a fucking videogame. Get over it.
The live chat was freaking out too when FF16 didn't get nominated in the music category lol.
You guys should definitely reacting to BAFTA Game Award more from now on. It's golden 🏆
no ben starr for performance is an absolute snub.
They snubbed XVI and AC56 so hard its pathetic, they chose BG3 to sweep and knee capped any competition. This was a dog shit award show and says literally nothing about the industry achievements for the past year beyond 'lol BG3 good'.
Its so obvious its cringe and I'm mad they bothered watching this crap.
@@roughlyadequate6165 Have you played BG3? I felt similar, then I played it (Actually played through).
sad to see that yoshitaka murayama the directo/creatorr of suikoden and a director of Eiyuden Chronicle hundred heroes pass away before the game has released : (
The In Memoriam song is "Late Goodbye" by Poets of the Fall, appropriately enough.
*whoops, he said the name, but oh well, now you know if you missed it.
I wonder if Rebirth could be nominated next year. It is really testing the limits of what a remake is.
Yeeeah Taskmaster Isla! Love the british version. I'm starting to feel like its perhaps the best game show format invented in modern TV history ^^
Armored Core 6 not present
next year again plz!
I like how this show has more of a British, or I think actually European, irreverance. That really makes it its' own thing, compared to the VGA's and quite fun to watch IMO. And I also love the VGA's, mind you, it's cool that they're both their own thing.
This was awesome. This is all I wanted from a game awards presentation. I know it's not sexy and doesn't have a lot of trailers or reveals or whatever, but dammit, who cares. This night should be to award the developers for their hard work. If that means only a 100k watch it versus a million, and they're cool with that! And theyre not going out of business because of that! I am cool with that too.
Hopefully everyone that complained about the game awards watched this and the dice awards.
EXCELLENT show! But, what the F**K is with not bringing Poets Of The Fall to sing "Late Goodbye". Hooooly hell what a swing and a miss.
1:02:24
i love her voice, Tomb Raider 1 for LIFE
2:23:07
Shelly Blond, being the voice of TR1 Lara, never locked a butler in a freezer because TR1 didn't have a butler at Croft Manor, that came with TR2 and performer Judith Gibbins.
BAFTAs are legit
FF16 not being nominated for the music category is absolutely disgusting. I feel insulted right now, like if my best friend in the world was told by his crush that he isn't good enough.
I don't they nominated Nier Automata or Persona 5 in the past either. So sadly it's no surprise.
At this point, it just saves Soken some apartment space - he has so many awards already (I agree it deserved though)
It’s fine. The Wonderful 101’s music wasn’t nominated either, so it’s okay for FF 16 to not get nominated.
FFXVI has a great soundtrack, but so have a lot of other games that have music that is just as good. In the music/soundtrack category in particular you could put like 30 soundtracks on the list and would have to leave some out that would deserve to be there.
Unfortunately it is impossible to put them all on the list - and in my opinion the soundtrack of BG3 is nothing short of amazing.
It’s overrated imo. The only track of note is the first half of the (overplayed) eikon theme. And when they deviated with Titan Lost, it was terrible.
Final Fantasy XVI not getting nominated for Best Music and Best Performance makes me physically sick.
What the fuck man.
Wow this was actually good. Another reason why Americans ought to take a page from Europe.
Now this is THE Game Awards
FF16 had the best score and music.
Nope
This is what The Game Awards should aspire to.

Humphry Davy was the British scientist who, in 1808, identified element 13 on the periodic table.
He named it first "alumium" and later "aluminum", never did he name it "aluminium".
@@Reaper616
But he did, in his 1812 work "Elements of Chemical Philosophy".
@@Reaper616
Also, you mean 19th century

Crocodile Dundee for sure --- but who knows this one: "Straight from Brighton Beach Brooklyn, give a warm, juicy welcome to Sara Goldfarb!"
this show puts TGA to shame.
Oooh boy, can’t wait to see justice restored and *The Wonderful 101* to finally get the recognition it deserves.
Till it hasn’t humanity as a species is forever damned to the circle of war, death, illness and general misery.
Those jokes at the show start are so hard to listen to... cringing all the way through.
Stopped at the propaganda in 26:37
this is premium dumb comment
Oh ffs grow up
angry conservative alert
@@zaksharman uninformed democrat alert
@@drumroll7552 LOL i'm not even american so please realise when i speak the same language as you doesn't mean i'm the same nationality. absolute gammons like you never get the simple things in life
What a garbage show, wasted the air time on it tbh. Don't waste your time on the BAFTAs after this clown show, snubbed XVI for music and AC6 all together. The music category was full of forgettable fluff just so BG3 didn't have to face real competition. What a surprise, the British white washing something to make it convenient for their narrative.
Please don't ever give air time to this joke again.
