Janet and Ben are becoming the A list Minnmax duo lately. They’ve been so good together.
It was nice not having 10 ads between awards
“Can we go now?” LMAO the Viewfinder dev was so real for that 😂
I respect Phil Wang's commitment to the game specific deadpan jokes.
Admittedly, I've become an "easy cry" as I get older. But man, that video profile of the work done by Special Effect was touching beyond measure. Cheers to them.
As a awards show Bafta was so good, very good host, very good speeches very good venue. Let people finish there speeches. Please take note award shows
Hope the industry rallys around this even after the sponsored streams dry up, infinitely more enjoyable than Keighleys self masturbation-fest every year that only serves his ego, it's nice to hear the artists speak about their art without getting pushed off the stage for another hack bit
@54:30: best acceptance speech ever: "I'm very hungry...let's go now." Lol!! 😂
59:17 Ben finally becoming Dan Ryckert
New show + color analysis for Ben Hanson (I bet he’s a winter)
Starts 15:30
Hells yeah (no,err, actually pun intended)! I *LOVED* Raphael and in a game with so many side characters I feel like he hasn't received as much attention or love so this was great to see!
But boyo he definitely siezed his moment... Which TBH is very Raphael. Not bad, but definitely longer than needed to be.
Nor the woman doing the narration for the entire game
@@ChichiNaka definitely not on the awards level. I’d guess that it is because of the nature of the role, since she doesn’t get to express as much intense or range of emotion as other roles, despite her excellent subtle nods of sadness, fear, elation and sarcasm. However I think she def got quite some love from the community, even if just for her amazing outtake videos
@@Hugop_arts Yeah loved the outtake videos
@48:51: Dave the Diver dude with a boss move, dunking on Zelda, lol! ⚓️🗡
This is my first time watching a BAFTA Games Award show, and this is great! It's a real award show honoring games and those who make them.
I hope you all react to them every year
As for skin undertones: it's less about the "modeling" and more about the "texturing" in this gamedev analogy. And to exemplify, when I'm painting someone, for example, besides the base skin-tone that person has, how close their microveins are to the surface of their face will add more warmth and red to specific parts. A clean shaven guy might have a jaw-line that skews bluish or greenish due to the hair folicules growing underneath - depending how heavily they'd grow beard or not. That all gets compounded when taking in consideration local contrast with other facial features: darker or lighter lips, color of hair and eyes, etc..
Nintendo's European employees always just describe the game rather than make a speech and I think it's so dumb, I've noticed Dough Bowser does it too from time to time.
Insane how much better this is than the Game Awards. You can feel the passion for gaming and developers, unlike Geoff Keighley's the Game Advertisements.
Damn, Dave the Diver Dev (say that 3 times fast) really went hard on his speech haha
Janet definitely got done dirty with the Game Showdown personal question.
42:17 Ben that's sweet anita and she has tourettes.
So Elle Osil-Wood who was with Mythwrecked was also one of the members of the English magazine, PlayStation UK, and PlayStation Access on YT. She was with them for a few years; replacing Holly, who left to join CD Projekt RED and the Cyberpunk 2077 team.
Its like they said how can we do an exact opposite show of the game awards
50:07 He meant kinda both but factually, the former is more prominent since the devs studio was backed by a billions dollar corporation hence not an indie game. Also because at The Game Award, their game was nominated for Best Indie Game even tho they're not so it's also a jab to TGA hence he gave the special shoutout to BAFTA.
@15:06: Phil Wang?! Perfect name for a comedian, lol! 🤌😂😭💀
Man, Lies of P and Octopath Traveler 2 snubbed once more for music.
@43:50: 😳🫢🤭😬
2:16:45 finally an American winning something
I'm weirdly more ok with the naked commercialism of The Game Awards now having sat and watched the BAFTAs.
Like, ok, yes the TGAs are kind of a joke but why should they be trying to out do this? The Oscars already exist but that doesn't mean you can't do the MTV Movie Awards and stuff it full of fun ads.
The real challenge I feel is how do you communicate to people who bitch about the TGAs that the thing they say they want already exists and has been around since... 2001 was it?
I'm pretty plugged in and have of course heard of the BAFTAs, but I didn't know they were this. I pictured something on a much smaller, insider's only kind of scale, maybe in a hotel somewhere. Not a fully blown produced show.
This stream was a good move. They need more PR about this thing. It was super nice to see games and game devs especially get something like this.
yeah Miles is the best part of Spider-Man 2.
Zelda snub tbh
Maybe it's just me but I feel like in a reaction stream the people should actually react to what they're watching rather than discussing their lives while paying no attention to what's happening? Two egregious examples in the first hour: being surprised that one of the presenters has Tourette Syndrome after she is specifically introduced as someone who has Tourette Syndrome and then later wondering which games are British to make it into the British Game category and then paying zero attention to any of the nominees past the first one.
I mean for better or worse, this is how all MinnMax reaction streams go lol
It does happen pretty often ahah...
I agree completely. It's maddening, especially when it's a tangent having nothing to do with anything happening at the event. Your anecdote about a time you had a conversation with a friend one time has a place, and it isn't here. Unfortunately, critique like that has no harbor here, and just invites replies of the "just watch the event without the reaction stream, then," flavor.
100% agree. I love MinnMax but their reaction streams are definitely the parts I think could use some improvement. On one hand, I understand it's difficult to stream a reaction of multi-hour long showcases/award shows and trying to strike a balance between reacting and conversing, but a lot of the time they're straight up ignoring whatever is on screen for significant portions and at that point I wonder what even is the point in reacting. I had the same issue with the III showcase a couple days ago. They were literally just talking over the gorgeously animated Prince of Persia trailer for most of it to only then suddenly start caring when the title dropped. Like I said, I think it's a tough balance to strike, but I do hope this is something MinnMax can improve on.
This. I'm not even halfway and I'm gonna have to stop watching for a bit cause I'm just getting annoyed at how little attention they're paying to the thing they're supposedly reacting to
Guys I know you're here for commentary but can you NOT talk over the acceptance speeches?
SPIDERMAN 2 SUCKS
This was a great time actually compared to TGA
