I've had this for a couple of weeks, but I'm still waiting for my add-on to arrive. Unfortunately, Lucky Duck are only involved in publishing the retail version, and this is Stone Sword Game's (the developer, not to be confused with Stone Blade Entertainment) first kickstarter, so fulfilment hasn't been going smoothly. I'm sure that they are doing their best but it must be a steep learning curve. I'm still waiting for Cyberpunk Red: Combat Zone....
From the campaign page of the Senjutsu Kickstarter: "Our team is experienced in designing, producing, and shipping games, this is the fifth Kickstarter project we've worked on together and the third Kickstarter project by Stone Sword Games!" Hogs of War was the previous SSG project on the platform, and was less of a mess than this, but in similar ways. They made explicit promises to avoid the mistakes they'd made during that project, and explained specific changes they had already made as well as things they planned to change going forward which should have prevented about 90% of the mess we're seeing now. But they didn't actually avoid those problems, because they failed to follow through on their promises, which has become a running theme. The project has been a mess, not just in fulfilment, but more importantly, in communication with backers. They've repeatedly failed to meet reasonable expectations of communication, including promising timeframes for updates then missing their own deadlines, getting aggressive towards backers asking them for information we had good reason to expect them to have provided in some cases multiple weeks prior to the question, have been caught in at least 2 lies which actually matter (and at least 1 more which doesn't really), and have reneged on several of the stretch goals the project reached and changed the scope and nature of several promised game features, with some changes being decided before the standard Kickstarter refund cutoff point but not relayed to backers until much later, with the default Kickstarter deadline being cited as an excuse not to refund any time anyone asked. I could go into a *LOT* more detail on specific events, particularly more recent ones surrounding not the problems with fulfilment itself, but SSG's failures to communicate at every single step of the way regarding those problems. Suffice to say, I'm excited to receive my game, but unless there are *MUCH BETTER* indications of improvement in future, it's unlikely I'll be giving SSG money for a Kickstarter project ever again.
These standees are for the AI characters (there are 5 generic AIs used in solo/co-op), not the actual characters. All the main characters are minis. I suspect they didn't do minis with snap-on coloured bases because the bases are hexes not circles.
You're getting way too specific too early in the review. I don't care about the details of the cards yet. Explain the overall game play and objective first.
