  • I know you didn't get the iPhone 14 Pro Max vs S22 Ultra camera comparison on time but I thought I would do a triple camera comparison as a part of my Google Pixel 7 Pro camera review. The Google Pixel 7 Pro vs iPhone 14 Pro Max camera was heavily requested so I thought I would throw in the Galaxy S22 Ultra camera because it is still one of the best out there. Which camera did the best?

As for the portrait modes, you're right, it's over sharpened, but what I've noticed is that by default it does not have any beauty or retouch mode on. And I believe the iPhone and the Samsung correct me if I'm wrong. They have the beauty mode turned on in portrait so what I normally do is that I put it in the middle option so it has like a smooth retouch or beauty mode and the pictures come out better. Just thought I would share that with you. Good video by the way

These were great comparisons. I have just ordered the Pixel 7 Pro, upgrading from the Samsung Note 20 Ultra (crappy camera) and although I could have ordered the S22 Ultra these pics helped make the decision to change. I find that the Samsung cameras are not handling the white balance very well in daytime shots and in many of these the photos appeared over exposed and some of the colours not realistic. With the Pixel 7 Pro I can edit the photos afterwards to brighten them up etc if needed, but I can't take away over-exposure without creating other issues with the photo. I was in Alaska with my sister and her Samsung S10 beat my Note 20 Ultra in almost all shots, even some of the indoor night photos. It was disappointing to realize that I had to edit almost all of my photos before I could upload them. I compared the settings on both phones and they were the same but no comparison on quality of the pics. My sister was on a trip to the gold coast in Australia and her photos on FB were brilliant and beautiful...and she is a point & shoot photographer with no technical ability to alter anything. Her photos were fantastic and unedited. I'm hoping the Pixel 7 Pro will put me in the same ballpark as the Samsung S10!!

Great review. Thank You. What I miss in this kind of reviews is a comparison of speed of autofocus and quality of pictures while shooting moving objects. I think many users use smartphones for shooting family (especially children) who are in constant move. I've once owned Oneplus, and thier auto focus and sam sort of strange post processing was so slow, that all photos were blurred. I'm following Oneplus user reviews of latest models, and their cameras still sucks, which is not pointed in most of the reviews.

Got the Pixel 7 pro, absolutely love the pictures taken from it.
Regarding the comparison: now since you have pointed out - i see that Pixel tend to go for warmer (redish) colors, but you never mentioned the terrible greenish/bluesh colors often coming from Iphone or (to a lesser extent) Samsung.
During the day i still prefer Pixel shots - Samsung just cheaply boosting the brightness and saturation while lossing in details and contrast. Iphone just has werid colors as for now, not vert pleasant sometimes, but still quite close to Pixel shots in many scenarious. During day for me Pixel>Iphone>Samsung
During the night i thought Pixel would be a king but Samsung still seems to nailed it, it just a bit but still better (mostly in hdr and controlling highlights). Iphone kinda still sucks during the night. So for night Samsung>Pixel>Iphone.
Zoom capabilities for Pixel (given only one x5 camera) are just insane. Samsung ofc has an advantage with 10 so kinda unfair a bit :D
The only real downsize of a Pixel in terms of pictures is lack of high rez, full 50 mp mode, which i hope google can add in future (mb via software update?).
The selfie camera on Pixel is not as good as mains ofcourse but not bad, tho at ambient lighting it does indeed produce too dark shots, underexposing the face and pushing too much of a contrst for no reason.
Given the fact that here in Netherlands i bought it for half a price of S22 or new Iphnone (680 euro with discounts), it is indeed a worhty competitors to those guys.

I did mention right after the other two lean towards other colors 🤷🏻‍♂️ I have covered those other cameras in detail so this video was more focused on how the Pixel 7 Pro compares to these two cameras so I was diving in more to that camera than the others. It’s not bias it’s just the way my review process works. I am not like a normal person where they test a camera once and stop. I compare cameras throughout the year so I notice changes with software updates etc. I understand at the same time how everyone feels and all of this is so opinion based.

Besides natural progression of overall better photos & video Samsung needs get better with shutter speed & also at capturing color red from lights & led lights in general. Always makes the color look different. Especially red. Highlight balance is also an issue for all phones but I'd include that in general improvements cause it's so hard to nail highlights in all conditions.
Yes as usual. Phenomonal comparison Danny! Really great work. Appreciated! Definitely my go to for accurate & most in depth comparison. Most channels seem bias or sloppy at the comparisons. Tech Chap also seems to do a great job.. Just not quite as thorough.
The small things in customization Samsung includes are just too useful or time saving to pass up or switch.. Even if video/camera wasnt as good I'd stay with Sammy. HOWEVER
it's as good or better as usual. Each take blows back & forth. Just video iPhone still a bit ahead.. Just not enough to matter for average consumer. Ready for s23. Pixel not quite there yet. That voice to text is insanely good however. Hope we get that sometime soon.
Also hope the Fold 5 when folded is same width as a regular phone. It's too skinny folded right now for me & I don't wanna feel like I have to open it to have a good experience.

S22 ultra wins overall. I take a lot of family pictures and the pixel often puts shadows on shadows on faces and gives people grey hair. Its like the pictures are way too sharp. The wife runs the iPhone and it's camera is really good but the zoom simply can't match the S22. With the galaxy I can just point and shoot and be way more confident I'm gonna get a great shot in any situation. How the turn tables have turned.

this year pixel really messed up the portrait category by digitally cropping the shot from the main sensor and then oversharpening it.i thin they should replace that 5x with a 3x or something

    • @StarfireRebirthCM
      @StarfireRebirthCM ปีที่แล้ว

5x can still be used for portraits but you need more distance from the subject. And the resulting shot will have a natural bokeh. 5x is the 125mm equivalent, any human portraits will look way better than other zoom levels due to minimal distortion.

  • @dallan7740

Weird that Pixel doesn't do cinematic with the front facing camera. You could argue that there's a stronger use case for it there than on the back. It also seems like it would be more straightforward to implement at the person is almost always right in front of the camera.

The Pixel is harsh and revealing, so yes one hopes their processing will smoothen things out 🤞🏽 The S22 Ultra is good in bright light but in low light it can't compare to the Pixel 7 Pro. Or even the 6 Pro. And Pixel's stabilization is way better too. Thanks for this video.

Honestly, I disagree with the red cast, it has been there since the Pixel 2 and I prefer it in some scenarios. Yes sometimes the warmer greener look on the s22 makes it feel more cinematic but the red cast does give a nice "pop" to the image without overdoing saturation. At times tho it does kinda suck but in general, I like it.
In conclusion, smartphone manufacturers should give us the option in settings.
