After watching almost all of your vids. I'm inspired to get me a little van like you have and get out there. I'm not going to be a full time van person, as I have a home and a job, but I do like to go off with my dogs camping and I think a little van like this will do just the job and for weekend trips, I won't need to take a tent. So thank you for your inspiration, tips, advice and general 'good vibe energy'. Keep on travelling and posting!!
That’s awesome! Glad you have been inspired to get out and about. I think you’ll enjoy it. Having a little van is a great way to be home away from home😊
I have the exact idea for myself. I have purchased the little van, still work full-time and have a dog named Sophie. We are looking forward to our first camping 🏕 trip soon. I've gotten a lot of great ideas on this channel. Love every episode!
You touch on something so important it is worth repeating… If you like your own company you are hardly ever alone. Nature is its own brand of healing too! Great video as usual. Much love! Chrispy
I've been on the road for over a year and as you stated, if you like your own company you are never alone. I frequently meet my daughter and we'll do breakfast, lunch or dinner. Otherwise I love my "me tme" and spend it with Mother Nature. Another enjoyable video. Thanks, Dee. Stay safe.
Hey Ms. Dee, when I took my trip to Alaska alone on a motorcycle, I didn't feel lonely, but it's great that folks would talk to me where ever I stopped. I needed that! An unplanned part of the trip was to ride the Alaska Marine Highway ferry. I didn't get a cabin, and slept in the "Solarium" in a deck chair with my sleeping bag. 3 days to rest and meet and talk to folks, really a great part of the trip, saw the scenery I would have missed on the bike. I'd encourage you to check it out as part of you're Alaska trip. It's not cheap, but costs less than a cruise ship, and you can get off at a stop, reboard when the next ferry comes by. Roll on!
One of the very BEST GIFTS we each give to ourselves is learning to ENJOY our own company !! Think I always did. Cuz as a kid I'd spend hours up in the very top of a very big pine tree with spreading branches ! Loved it there all by myself ! Only wished Dandy ( my Cocker Spaniel could BE up there with me !! So glad you are enjoying our beautiful Missouri fall. I'm a grandma teaching in St. Louis and enjoy many, many van camping weekends in the lovely state parks , National Forest campgrounds and Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds here in the Show-Me state. All blessings to you as you continue to inspire joy and confidence among women. Hope to see you down the road!
Your spirit is so refreshing. I wish someone would start a meetup Facebook page or website but it might get crazy. Looking forward to seeing the Gutted video 🙂
As I have said before “You are truly a master of your space.” Inside and out. It’s so refreshing to see someone so comfortable with themselves that loneliness is really not an issue. It’s unfortunate that so many people don’t find that comfort inside. I’m sure your channel provides an inspiration for those that haven’t reached that point. Your channel continues to make me smile. A kindred spirit.
I can't wait to show my 81 yo mum your channel. She will LOVE your red van and sense of adventure. I'll be hitting the road in 2023. So glad to have found you. Cheers from Australia!
Great video 👍🏼 I learn so much from every video you put out. Thanks for incorporating my “silly question” 😊 I’ve only been drinking coffee for a few years now and I’m always looking for healthier, or better/easier, ways to enjoy the things I love so that I can enjoy life just a little more. ❤️
I’m glad you find my videos useful. I have been enjoying coffee for years. The older I get, the more I enjoy just the rich taste of it without all the fixings. But I have fun making it a special drink in the morning when I have time. The whole ritual of it is very grounding to me😊☕️
Thank you so much, Dee, for being so thorough in your answers. Those of us who are trying to get out travelling need a LOT of detail. LOL Hubby and I are finished building out our small cargo trailer! It was a challenge and hard work but a fun summer project. I LOVE organizing and nesting! 😊 The scary part is driving south (we’re in Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦) and learning how to boondock. I have fears of getting lost, not finding a place to camp, not having enough power or water…….ALL the worries! HOWEVER……I’ve decided that we’ll figure it out even if it’s a steep learning curve and we screw some things up. The unknowns will become familiar, right? AND….any adventure is better than sitting in our rocking chairs for another snowy, cold winter! (We hope to make it to the RTR in Quartzite! 😮)
Great to see you! I really enjoy your calm manner of speaking. It soothes the soul, whether you are sharing how to content, interviewing, sharing gadgets, or doing Q &A’s! I can relate to being content with my own company and yet enjoy the company of others too! I think that’s why nature feels like the place I want to be. I always appreciate when you share your roof top deck coffee time with us too! Take care and safe travels! Rita
Yay on the magnet idea! My cabinet is on opposite side so it is the front door that slides. I love the cabinet. I do need a couple more secure screws though. Your van interior is gorgeous!
Great video, Dee. Lady Bugout looks fantastic, and you hit the nail on the head about loneliness. Sure, good company can be fantastic, but I really value my alone time! See you soon 😊❤
Thank you for your videos! Your space is always so lovely: neat, well organized, and attractive. I will be full-timing, so probably carrying more stuff, and in a minivan, and am concerned that it will feel cozy but “stuffed”. I admire anyone who can create and maintain such a tidy van.
I just your home!!! I so agree on being comfortable and happy in your own skin! I learned at a very young age to love myself and do the things that I love!!! I just hiked 4 months on the Appalachian Trail with my standard poodle and support from my wonderful hubby!! Less is more with the poop😊😊 we are now van camping and I am getting such wonderful ideas from you!!! Thank you 😊❤️
@Lady Bugout the stick gel pads can be washed with soap and works again.. The 1st year I visited family in 13 states. It was a 7 month journey stressful, but was able to spend quite a bit alone time which I was amazed I loved it. This year in Texas planned on just going everywhere and anywhere to take it easy. To me it makes alot of sense what you saying.. hahaha after you talking about café I've been drinking since 10yrs old maybe sooner bcuz PR 🇵🇷 start very young I've seen 5yr Olds, with that said it has to be just right ..when you made that face I cracked up bcuz thats what I did automatically when my cousin wanted to treat me tocafé. I tell her I'm picky. her n the barista found out when he gave me a pocillo de café (small shot) I didn't realize it till I caught them staring at me (I did the same thing you did) and we all started laughing..well he made one especialmente for mua and OMGOODNESS it was the bom. He had ahuge grin.. I had totally forgotten about it till now 😆 🤣 😂

You are so synced with the Tao!! So wise! Agreed, trees ARE wonderful, but the emptiness of the desert is the complement. I have enjoyed watching all your videos since I discovered your channel the other day. I still can't get used to the fact that you're a dead ringer for my dear little sister, but a different voice comes out. haha... Re: your point on exploring the nearer locales one is reminded of the sage Menicius "The way is near, but men seek it afar. The way is in simple things, but men seek it in difficult things" Always something to think about for the nomad minimalist as you suggest. Sure saves on gas! Thanks for all the smiles. You're the greatest!
Watched lots of your videos. So informative. Always wonderful presentation. #2 Info has been helpful. I holiday in a Skoda Yeti Back seats removed. Very very basic but suites me and because of the “tent” set up in the back warm in the cold. Can park anywhere. When I have been caught out put a plastic bag in a small basin. Now know to put the result into a screw top container…. I can breath easy Anyone doing Scotland mosquito netting the holes are too big for midges…. They crawl through. Use midge netting and have a good repellent for outdoors. Thank you Dee You produce and edit well
@@LadyBugout found a collapsable basin.😁 I did not know they existed before. The “tent “ means nothing is seen. I can still see out of the rear window. I raise the 4 tent legs about 8” on wooden blocks before I get in to sleep. Then high enough to sit up. Could modify the tent frame so it could be raised to the roof. Maybe one day! Thanks you again Dee from a chilly Scotland 🥶😁
A porta potty serves us well. We don’t put toilet paper in it and I dump some baking soda in it for smell control. Cheap and universally available. We spend winters touring Mexico so hauling six months of rv supplies is a pain. We can dump anywhere without clogging anything. Brown water? No problem.
Great tips! Thank you for answering my question too ❤ Totally makes sense! I love that idea. It’s funny I hadn’t thought of it! I will check out conferences and other gatherings related to interests other than just vanlife. Thanks!!
There are some vintage Corning Ware coffee pots, tea pots, and buffet servers that are really nice little works of art. They are usually white, and made out of "pyroceram," a great material - a crystalline glass-ceramic material that can go right on a burner or stovetop. Some of the models and designs are beautiful. You can find them in thrift stores or online, sometimes like new.
Hi Dee! Gosh, you seem to get ever so more adorable as you go! How is that? Lol! Here’s to a Transit Connect meetup! That is for sure what I will be buying in a year and six months when I retire.
Another wonderful video Dee! Thanks for the detail about your build - very clever (and practical) ways of securing your furniture and storage. Love it! I hope you enjoy your well-earned rest. I really like your idea of spending a month or so in each state. Whirlwind road trips seem to leave people depleted. It’s a big world, with so much to appreciate and spending a little time in each place reveals so many more secrets about the beauty and attractions of a region. I have a question! While your trusty little Connect seems perfect for a solo traveler, do you think a Transit Custom (next size up) or even a Transit Van would be necessary for a parent who has weekend visits from his kids? I’m determined to transition to van dwelling, and I’d like to have the smallest ‘footprint’ in the world that I can, but I want enough room for my kids to feel comfortable when they stay over. Thanks! ❤
I love the honesty of this one! It kills me the ones that say I don't go to the bathroom in my vehicle. First off I believe very little of what they say after that. Second, I don't even believe they stay in their vehicle much.
I'm with you on the coffee! You remind me a little bit of Mary Padian from storage wars. Hope you had a good Christmas. I just found your channel. Building out a vintage Chevy G20 van for myself and looking at different builds. From you so far I'm convinced of the usefulness of magnets and I had never seen those stretch over window screens. Thankyou.
Whew! I bet you are glad you got to be a part of Gutted, but also glad to get a break now that it's over. See you in the near future...at the next meetup.
"have all of the connects, connect".. what if the connect vans actually connected though? Like you fold the back doors out and back 2 of them together and they lock into a big room 🤣
Loved your reply to the lonely question. I too love spendibg time in my own. Mindfulness has helped me reach this place of peace and comfort with myself as well as time spent in nature. At 61 I'm probably happier than I've ever been. Wondering how old you are if you're willing to divulge 😉
It helps that I don’t have a pet!!! I spot clean every so often. I was actually worried about that as well. It has not been that much of an issue. I also take shoes off if they’re dirty before entering. 🤗
Dee I am wondering if you have a spare wheel? If so where do you keep it... I have a Renault kangoo van with a pop top and have no place to keep one. Interested to know your take on this thanks. TONI
@@LadyBugout very usefull under the van, can't do that with mine unfortunately. Thanks I am enjoying your vids, and Bunny with her stories ☺ ....... Toni
So glad you're enjoying Missouri . My Great Grandfather ,Great Grandma & Great Uncle Lived in ANDERSON,MO I went to Jr College in COLUMBIA. Lots of family trips to St Louis & many other beautiful spots in Missouri !!
Hmmmm. I think that is something very personal. Your kids will be happy when you are happy. The connect is small. But the regular transits definitely have more room. Maybe you can find some to try out or go view some showcases to get a feel for the type that feels right for you and your needs. You’ll know it when you see the right one for you!!!☺️
@@LadyBugout I travel with my English Bulldog, Frankie, short for Frankenstein so the 2010 transit connect is perfect for us. When my 6 children were growing up, we had a Wonderlodge and space was plentiful. More space = more stuff and I am doing my best to get rid of stuff.
I love this lady's sense of humor and I'm going to start this kind of life next year in a new jeep and new truck and a new 4 wheeler. Cause, you only live once ? Thanks for sharing
I hear over and over horse pellets are the best thing to use but where do you store them in such a tiny space, how do you keep light colors so clean out there
Usually a group of us buys a bag and divides it up into smaller ziplock bags. I store some under the driver’s seat and some in the ottoman. I thought it would be a problem to keep the light colors clean. But, it helps that I don’t have any pets. I just remove my shoes and have a mat by the entrance. 🤗
🥰🌿☕ Enjoyed this, and really liked what you said re not needing to fill the void, being at peace. Made me think about where I find my peace & happy to have some, even when trying to field the crazy things life can throw at one. Happy travels wherever they may take you! Best, Lynne
Thank you Lynne. It’s been a good season of life for me. I’ve come through some dark times and it’s nice to be on the other side. I am grateful and don’t take this for granted… especially knowing what it took to get here🙂
@@LadyBugout In a bit of a dark times year myself, but there is light and good people helping, so it should be ok. But, when this is thru, I will not take it for granted either. 💕
Excellent video Dee! Your van just looks cozy. I live full time in a cargo trailer its a little small for me, because I am 6'8" tall but its my man cave. I decorated like a hunting/fishing cabin and I'm very content with it and I am thankful to Almighty God for blessing me with it. God bless you and I am looking forward to your next video!
I love n totally get that u don’t feel lonely … that’s cause u love ur self fully !!! 🤗💗💫🙏🏼🥳 I’m not worried ur not doing “big meet ups this year” … I I know we’re gonna cross paths at some point. Oh yes come yo Canada … but wait for the spring 😉 N for real regardless of where we “park” HOPE u will always be welcome . So much love n respect for u ! Enjoy ur journey 💫
About your time in Bolivia is interesting and makes it a different kind of channel on Van living. I enjoy my time alone also, but at times I find a small candle is good company 💥
I love your Transit Connect! You have a classy and beautiful esthetic. I enjoy your videos, so informative and looks like you’re having a wonderful life. I’ve seen most of your videos, but I don’t remember what led you to road/van life? My brother has had vans for years, not a van lifer, he’s helping me decide and find one. I think I want a little larger than a Transit, room for a bike and artwork, maybe sewing, even though I’m not ready for full time. I love my Airstream, live in the mountains of New Mexico, but need to get away in Winters. Maybe see you in Quartzite,if you’re there in 2025…… Mary
Thank you! Yes, you definitely have to consider your needs and what you enjoy doing. I do not talk about my reason for getting into vanlife, so you didn’t miss anything 😊
😂😂😂 I couldn’t stop laughing when u talked about doing #2 you did a really good job. Everyone just needs to find what’s best for them. I remember as a child going on road trips with my little cousin we had the potty trainer for us to use when we didn’t get to a rest stop my male cousin he used a jar. I had a cousin who had a big road trip he other used the Adult diapers or a jar to do his business
I’m glad it was amusing! Yes, I try to tackle the issue with a bit of humor because it is easier than people seem to think to figure something out that is a workable solution😝
Do you double the bags for your poop I have had emergency situations for number 2 were I used just a walmart bag just grab the handles one on each side and a squat it worked quite well I just double the bags up just make sure they hold air and there is no holes well I guess that's enough on poop by the way great Channel I enjoy it so much
You nailed it on the question of lonely, you need to be happy with yourself, I spend most of my time alone and it doesn't bother me in the least.
Yes! I think we tend to love others better too when we are whole and happy with ourselves. 🐞💃🏻🚗

I like your bumper bench at 24:20 👍
Thank you. Glad to give you ideas☺️
Love the tips! I am going to use some of this for my 2011 Connect! these sure are wicked little vans! I've done 2 years camping in mine now.
They are the best! Glad you are enjoying yours🤗💃🏻🚗
I like seeing you in your new living space!
I really need to do a overhaul of my Astro going in to winter ❄️
Happy travels 💗
Thanks Sonja! Ahhh yes, winter is coming 😝 time to figure out ways to stay warm🐞💃🏻🚗
Grand canyon Niagara falls great places to visit
Not alone you have your video
Transit connect connect, like that!!
Yay 💃🏻🐞🚗
Could be a great once a year event.
Thank you for those wise words. Glad I remind you of your sister -hope it’s a good thing🤭
Your little bed is my only bed. I like it very much. Thank you for sharing the foldable chair on your channel!
It’s a nice little bed!!!
I can breath easy
Anyone doing Scotland mosquito netting the holes are too big for midges…. They crawl through. Use midge netting and have a good repellent for outdoors.
Thank you Dee You produce and edit well
So glad they are helpful! Sounds like you have a very interesting set up!
@@LadyBugout found a collapsable basin.😁
I did not know they existed before.
No problem.
That’s an excellent solution!!!
Great tips! Thank you for answering my question too ❤ Totally makes sense! I love that idea. It’s funny I hadn’t thought of it! I will check out conferences and other gatherings related to interests other than just vanlife. Thanks!!
I’m serious about messaging me. If we happen to be in the same place, we can try to meet up🤗
Its van is so bright and cheery just like you! ❤🧡💛
That is kind of you to say😌
There are some vintage Corning Ware coffee pots, tea pots, and buffet servers that are really nice little works of art. They are usually white, and made out of "pyroceram," a great material - a crystalline glass-ceramic material that can go right on a burner or stovetop. Some of the models and designs are beautiful. You can find them in thrift stores or online, sometimes like new.
Nice! They sound beautiful☺️
Hi Dee! Gosh, you seem to get ever so more adorable as you go! How is that? Lol! Here’s to a Transit Connect meetup! That is for sure what I will be buying in a year and six months when I retire.
Hi Carmen!!! You are too kind. Yay! I will definitely have to have a meet up then🤗
Another wonderful video Dee!
😝 it’s interesting because I actually prefer my vehicle over some of the public toilets I see 😬
Oh! I would definitely rather go in my vehicle or behind a tree instead of many public bathrooms! :)
Hi Dee it’s nice to see you again I’ve been waiting for your next video.
Glad you are here Sarah☺️
I was a teacher in Southeast Asia and got used to squat toilets. Yes, so much healthier
😝 yep!!!
Thankyou.
Thank you, Ryan. I’m glad you’ve found some useful ideas! Have fun with your build☺️🎄💪🏼
Whew! I bet you are glad you got to be a part of Gutted, but also glad to get a break now that it's over. See you in the near future...at the next meetup.
Yes and yes!!! It was quite challenging, but I had a great time💃🏻
"have all of the connects, connect".. what if the connect vans actually connected though? Like you fold the back doors out and back 2 of them together and they lock into a big room 🤣
Now that would be a sight to see!
Those little magnets are great !! Thanks for the tip !
You are welcome, Carol!☺️
Watched the gals take care for you.that was good.
They’re the best!😌
Loved your reply to the lonely question. I too love spendibg time in my own. Mindfulness has helped me reach this place of peace and comfort with myself as well as time spent in nature. At 61 I'm probably happier than I've ever been. Wondering how old you are if you're willing to divulge 😉
Glad it resonated with you 🙌🏼 58 🤫😛
Thank you Dee❤. It’s all coming together. 🎉
Thank you Margie!☺️
My question would be….how do you keep it all so clean? I’m very impressed! White, light grey…can’t be easy keeping it nice
It helps that I don’t have a pet!!! I spot clean every so often. I was actually worried about that as well. It has not been that much of an issue. I also take shoes off if they’re dirty before entering. 🤗
Another great video. I'm loving your makeover!
Thank you Jeryl😊
Dee I am wondering if you have a spare wheel? If so where do you keep it... I have a Renault kangoo van with a pop top and have no place to keep one. Interested to know your take on this thanks. TONI
Yes I do! The transit connect has a spare hitched under the back end that winds down for changing.
@@LadyBugout very usefull under the van, can't do that with mine unfortunately. Thanks I am enjoying your vids, and Bunny with her stories ☺ ....... Toni
You are seriously a gem!
You are the gem! Hope to catch up soon☺️
@@LadyBugout I hope so too! I'll message you.
So glad you're enjoying Missouri . My Great Grandfather ,Great Grandma & Great Uncle Lived in ANDERSON,MO
I went to Jr College in COLUMBIA. Lots of family trips to St Louis & many other beautiful spots in Missouri !!
It is so beautiful! Especially in Autumn🍁🍂🐞
Thanks for another excellent video. I made it to Imperial Beach, heading to Disneyland shortly.
Sounds wonderful. Have fun!!!
That’s exciting! I think you’re gonna love it too🚗💃🏻💪🏼
Good luck and safe travels Dee.
Thank you Ray!
Thank you, good travels
Whoah…6’8” that’s tall. Glad you made it your man cave and that you enjoy it. That’s what counts☺️
Very interesting video Dee. I always enjoy your content. 💙👍🏻
I’m glad you enjoy it Dave! I appreciate your encouragement 🐞
I love n totally get that u don’t feel lonely … that’s cause u love ur self fully !!! 🤗💗💫🙏🏼🥳
I’m not worried ur not doing “big meet ups this year” … I I know we’re gonna cross paths at some point. Oh yes come yo Canada … but wait for the spring 😉
N for real regardless of where we “park” HOPE u will always be welcome .
So much love n respect for u !
Enjoy ur journey 💫
Thank you my dear!!! Yes, I know we’ll meet some day and it will be wonderful💃🏻🚗🐞
Lake Superior: no salt, no sharks.
Hahahah exactly!!!
I really enjoyed the video. Thanks Dee. Safe travels .
Thank you Nancy. Glad you enjoyed it😌
March? Looking forward to the full reveal.
I’m going to do it soon!!
Just curious why you us HP and not vinegar? Thanks and Happy Travels!💃🍂🐞
I don’t like the smell of vinegar in such a small space. Just preference🤗
If you are ever in Tucson I’d love to buy you a coffee and chat. Great informative video
I’ll let you know if/when I’m out that way!!!
I was lucky enough to meet you for a moment at the guttered event you are an awesome lady.
Nice meeting you too Robert!☺️
About your time in Bolivia is interesting and makes it a different kind of channel on Van living.
I enjoy my time alone also, but at times I find a small candle is good company 💥
💃🏻🐞🚗🕯
Dee your new setup is so tasteful and beautiful.
Thank you😌
I love your Transit Connect!
Oh Dee your van looks great!
Yay! I’m glad you like it🥰
You are lovely and your van is the coolest!
Thank you so much😊
Another great clip 👏👏👏. Follow the weather and follow your heart and you can’t go to far wrong. 👁👁🙃🙃🐕🦺😘😍🥰❤️🙏🐨🦘🇦🇺
And I love autumn weather!!!🍂🍁💃🏻
So this is what you were doing that last day.
Had I known, I would have came over and crashed it lol.
✌
Lol now that would have been an interesting scenario. You can crash my channel any time🤗💃🏻🐞
Enjoyed the video. Thank you.🌻
Glad you enjoyed it!!!
Do you double the bags for your poop I have had emergency situations for number 2 were I used just a walmart bag just grab the handles one on each side and a squat it worked quite well I just double the bags up just make sure they hold air and there is no holes well I guess that's enough on poop by the way great Channel I enjoy it so much
There you go!!! Sounds like you’ve got it down🤗🤭😂
@@LadyBugout hopefully not lol but you got to do what you got to do ha ha
