    I started having issues a few years ago. I went thru all my meds and got off any that were not helping me (they all have side effects). Then I gave up sugar. It took a while, but it definitely helps. Sugar is so bad for you. Very inflammatory. Also gave up boxed foods. Also inflammatory. I only eat fresh. And I started taking quality omega fish oil. That's really helping, I was surprised. Everything takes time. Your body has to get rid of the junk. I didn't do this all at once, I just started with one thing, then the next, it helped me not to fail. And you gotta remind yourself of how good it feels when you don't do these certain things. And how far you've come, and do you wanna ruin that?

    Good for you working on your health! Look up foods that have oxalates. My joint pain and crippling went away when I stopped foods high in oxalates. Keep up your kind and helpful videos.

    It is comforting to realize that there are lots of us who suffer daily pain…..I’m not alone! I’ve always been amazed at how one day I feel great and the next day I’m in horrid pain! I have osteoarthritis. I’ve had both hips replaced and will be having a shoulder replaced in the near future! Thank you for having this channel! It’s a comfort!

    I so wish I had seen this video the day you put it out. I too have arthritis in my hands and in a couple of toes. My hands used to hurt so bad, or maybe ache is a better word, but I’d have to have my husband squeeze them hard. It helped some but only temporarily. One day out of the blue I got this idea to massage castor oil into my hands. I spent a good 15 minutes doing it while watching tv. Shockingly my pain and constant ache was gone. No joke. I did it again the next day then did nothing for a couple of weeks. The pain started creeping back but minimally. Again I did the castor oil massage. Again… MIRACLE!!! No aches or pains. None! After the second time it took about a month or so for any ache to come back but it was very minimal. Again I massaged. No pain for months upon months. I think I’ve massaged my hands twice in a year and have been pain free. No pain in my toes as well. I can’t recommend doing this more. No meds. No special diet. No nothing except castor oil. I do recommend making sure you get organic cold pressed. You don’t want hexane or any other chemicals getting into your body. You can do this massage on elbows (I’ve done this after a repetitive injury), knees, feet/toes, neck and shoulders. I’m telling you, it’s a godsend. I hope you try it. Blessings🌸

    Thank you for all this information. I am new this hurt. Always my thumbs hurt. Used to be my left and I would get shots. I quit going to dr for about 4 years and thumb was not bad. Finally got appointment to see my right thumb and get a shot. He said it has arthritis and will not give a shot. He had done an xray. He said I have arthritis in right hand thumb, pointer, middle, and little. He sent me for therapy in thumb. Therapist is just treating the thumb. She told me to get equipment to help me. I cannot use the can opener now. My husband is very disabled to walk, etc. but he opened my cans yesterday. .
    Sorry I whinny to you but these things will help. I need to watch again and write down things I need. I am 76 and active and do lots of chopping. I sm plant based I can’t quit chopping!! 😢

    Bobbie - thank you so much for discussing this topic. I was diagnosed with RA in 2019 after years of pain and flare ups. I still haven’t found a medication therapy that works but I’m not giving up. Daily pain has become my regular and I had to give up my 30 + year career. I don’t think most people realize how mentally exhausting dealing with daily pain can be. Jars are my enemy! Lol

    ❤Have to say "Thank you!" for sharing how using a hand that is painful can often cause the pain to decrease.
    I am a rug maker and my thumbs were hurting from doing too much hand washing when I was without laundry facilities.
    So I was concerned about my ability to sew strips and crochet rugs.
    But lately it seemed that rug making was taking the pain away.
    When I saw your demonstration I realized that the hand movements are similar to the way I have to sew strips and pull material with the crochet hook .. so that explains the improvement by using muscles .. possibly counteracting the over use of other muscles used in hand washing some heavier fabrics.
    ...And maybe others with hand pain should consider possible cause of pain as a result of repetitive use of only one group of muscles and find an opposite movement to counteract .. such as the device you demonstrated.😊🙋❤

    Thank you, Bobbi. This was so relatable to me!! I have arthritis in my fingers and I have a hard time opening things, turning things, etc. I found that a piece of rubbery cabinet liner (with holes in it) works really good at gripping the top (and because it is large) the bottom for the other hand. It opens all tops like thermos drinking tops, and sauce jars. and even really large top, heavy jars. Because I keep the piece long, I use one end to hold the bottom and one end to hold the top so I have a good grip with both hands. Love your channel. You are beautiful!!

    The opener you used to open your milk carton with and tried to open a soda can......I use the little piece to open cans of cat food for my cat. I have also used it to open cans of food that have the tab....however, don't pull up too quickly as it might snap that piece off, but it works great! They also have a "U" shaped gripper that will open various size jars and works really well too. In fact, that is the one I just to open containers of Boost or Ensure.

    I have so many of the things you mentioned. I have a rubber jar opener that is a solid pice of black rubber shaped like a number 8. You slip it over any sized item you are trying to open. One end of the 8 is a smaller sized opening for smaller things and the other end is larger for spagetti sc jars etc. I buy the same 1/2 & 1/2 from Aldi. I use a pair of pliers. The salad dressing bottles from Aldi are worse. I run it under the hot water then use the wrench. I keep the wrench in my silverware drawer. Thanks for all the ideas.

    Good suggestions. I have osteoarthritis in my hands. I use a pop socket on my phone case, same as your loop it helps me hold my phone. I tired one of those scalp brushes and it broke my hair (I have fine hair) I’ve found using a wide hair pick style comb works better for me. I gave up trying to cut my toenails years ago, I treat myself to a pedicure once a month. Love my Kindle, I have a Paperwhite model but got a case that helps a lot. I going to try some of your other suggestions.

    Your sister's right about the exercise helping. My cousin is a knitter, needlepointer, crocheter, & her rheumy told her to keep up with it as the activity was good for mobility. I just ordered the clippers & put a couple other things on my wishlist. That figure 8 opener, I bought a few years ago on a recommendation & we have never had it work to open things. Watch seed oils for inflammation. I just have stiff and achy hands in the morning, and changing to not use vegetable, canola and those type of oils has made a difference as well as avoiding fried foods. Only olive oil, butter, coconut oil and ghee...think I saw this on Dr Berry's channel first. Bobby at Flav City also has good explanations of why this is too.

    • @VickiTakacs.
      @VickiTakacs. ปีที่แล้ว

      You are so correct. The American Heart Association actually came out with an article stating that coconut oil was quite bad for your heart and that the best oil was Canola. The low fat is another huge lie just like low salt. Yeah poison govt sponsored salt but you do need lots of the good salt.

    This is such good information, Bobbi! Not just for those with arthritus, either!! You could do a whole series on these types of things. Jars are always tricky, period. (I tease my husband about his jar opening skills being the real reason I married him! 😆) So all women can benefit there. Same with the key device and the paint can handle. I'm dying to try the handle for grocery bags; they can be a nightmare to carry. I've been using my scalp scrubber for a few years now and love it. Try two at the same time; makes the process go faster and it actually gives you a massage! Plus they help with the lather, which is tough to build with today's shampoos being so low in sulfates. But the advice at the end about saying it hurts, I could hug you for that! I have couple of herniated discs, so inflammation is an issue for me as well, and it changes daily. But when I say I hurt, I really do. It's so important for loved ones to take you seriously. Thanks again for this--your can-do attitude and thoughtfulness are so appreciated. Bless you!!! ❤🙏

    I wonder if the pencil grippies could be used with chopsticks. I love using chopsticks when I'm eating at a Japanese or Chinese restaurant...but I just can't hold and use the chopsticks properly anymore. I can also use them on some of my favorite pens that are getting difficult to hold. Must get some of those.

One thing that can also help you develop strength in your hands is to use putty or playdo, and just squeeze it and rotate it. Also, picking up tiny beads off the table will help with dexterity. These are two exercises the physical therapists did with my husband to help him after his stroke to gain mobility back in his affected hand.

    I have to get that nail clipper! I’ve been generally pain free from my rheumatoid arthritis with my current regimen of methotrexate and Humira. I do have some of these products because Ive had weak hands my entire life. One thing I can say that has been amazing for my RA is a heated mattress pad, infrared heating blanket (sharper image)more like an xxl heating pad and a heated glove for my hands when they ache. I’m 4.5 years since my diagnosis and doing well so far with no major issues.

    My arthritis is in my thumbs, and opening jars can be a major challenge. I have to say that as I’m getting older my finger strength is a problem even though I don’t have arthritis in them. Thanks for this video! I use the Revlon all in one hair dryer, and it has been a life changer for me. But I might invest in that T3 dryer. The Revlon dryers don’t last that long for me with my thick, rather coarse hair.

      Yes please let us know what you are eating on keto and if it helps. I started getting crippling arthritis in one finger when I was in my late thirties. I’ve been to several specialists and all told me the same thing. It is genetic. It skips a generation. My grandmother had it but not my mother. And there is nothing I did to cause it. My sister in law is convinced I caused it because I use artificial sweeteners. Both hands are now very deformed. No one I know or have ever known has hands like me. I am so thankful that I can still do many things that I love. Every day is a challenge. Thank you so much for your videos. They are inspiring and a blessing ❤

    How do you manage your arthritis pain? I am fairly new to this pain. So debilitating at times that it’s difficult to do any task. I have had one steroid shot and once it finally kicked in, it was amazing, but only lasted a few months. Those months were worth it! My pain started in both wrists at the same time and wake up with stiff hands in the mornings. I have found that collagen daily helps immensely. Just curious how you manage your pain? Thank you!! 🙏🏻 😊

    • @MindfulMidlife
      @MindfulMidlife  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I also take collagen and it really does help. I manage by adapting how I live life. I've just come to the conclusion that some things are not in my ability any more. I keep active with bike riding and weight training and that helps a lot.
