Hello my name is Leonardo, and I'm from Brazil... I just want to thank you for building this kit in tribute to our FAB pilots from WWII... And by the way, very nice kit!!!
Beautiful build. One of the best I've seen you do yet. The weathering is fantastic. Back in the 80's I had two high school teachers who were combat pilots. One flew the P-40, the other flew the F-105. Both of them told me to stay away from combat aviation. They both hated it. Lucky for them I lacked the syesight to rate a pilots slot.
very nice Rob!! I want to build the Tamiya 1/48 P-47D, I heard so many good things about that kit!! gorgeous collection you have there my friend! thanks for sharing it with us!
Yep - I've just watched your great new Airfix Spitfire build and seen the Spit collection... that's given me the push I need to get back up into that attic!
Thank you! I have no shortage of US decals for P-47's.. but sometimes it is nice to make them a little bit different! :) It all stems from the fact that I live so close to the main US P-47 Airfield of WWII, that's where my interest in these magnificent machines stem from.. :) I hope to build a collection of Boxted based P-47's, at the moment I only have two.. the black one and the 2-seater as shown in the video! But I'm building up a good collection of decals.. slowly!
Thank you.. and that is why I like to build these 'odds and ends' when it comes to aircraft.. because I learn some history myself in the process, and sometimes make other people aware of things as well, that they did not know.. Brazil was the only Latin American country to take an active part in the fighting in Europe, I believe.. and they did a heck of a good job too.. :)
Thank you... I'm slowly getting round to doing more to my models.. you can see a difference between my early P-47's and those I have built recently.. :) :)
Yes, well and truly underappreciated.. As it happens I cycled up to Boxted Airfield this morning after work.. I actually work on what used to be the living quarters of the ground crew of one of the squadrons, and to get to the memorial I have to cycle around most of the airfield, such as it was.. doesn't take me long though, and it was a lovely morning! The P-47's and pilots that flew from Boxted have gone down in history and legend, and that's where my interest in the P-47 stems from.. :) :)
Yes, it is a brilliant kit.. I nearly won one on ebay but got outbid.. I WILL get one to build one day though! :) :) I have plenty of ideas for future builds of P-47's, including a post-war P-47 N of the Costa Rica National Guard.. Got the decals, got the kit.. but ooh.. when to fit it in?? :)
Thanks.. It makes for something a bit different as usual.. :) When I'll get round to doing my Boxted T'bolts the main difference will be in the great variety of camouflage patterns and colours they used.. but I'm not ready to tackle them just yet! I want to do them proper justice.. :)
Just finished another Hurri.. but unfortunately I won't be able to include a 'selection of my collection' of Hurricanes in that video, as far as I know, because we will have workmen and drying fans in the house over the next few weeks sorting things out to do with a bad leak we had the other week. I may not be able to build anything at all for a while but I'm going to do my very best to carry on as usual.. :) Glad I've got you gluing some plastic.. :)
Sounds good.. I will need to stock up on some more Razorback kits, even if it's only Academy in 1/72.. I want to build a c P-47 with Malcolm hood, and also another 2-seater, which also used a Malcolm hood.. The first 2-seater I did only had a prolonged greenhouse canopy.. :)
Thank you.. Those brave pilots deserve any credit they can have.. and the more people that know about them, the better.. :) I hope I made the P-47 justice in Brazilian colours, it was a fun project to build.. :)
Just like the Spitfire or the Hurricane, I can't have too many!! :) I just wish I had a 'bunker' like yours to sit and build in.. I even wouldn't mind the washing, if it meant I could have the stuff out and ready for whenever I had a minute to sit down and build.. :)

Lietadla 2.svetovej vojny a všetko čo má vrtuľu sú moje obľúbene . Váš spôsob stavby je super.
a very nice model there. i am currently building the same kit but cant decided the best color for the undercarriage bays. what one did you use thanks kev
You're very welcome.. sorry it wasn't another talkie, but I was just too tired again ,and as I had done no preparation for this video, other than gathering the pictures, I had to go for the quicker option of copying the text.. :)
Thank you.. I have many more Spitfires and Hurricanes than I have P-47's, but that is because I want to wait and build the P-47's until I have picked up a few more skills.. :) One day hopefully I'll get there.. :)
They did not see action for more than a brief period during the last few monthsof the war, but when they did, they saw a lot of it! And they sure made an impact to the outcome of the war.. I will build another Brazilian P-47 later on, in olive drab, and with the large fueltanks normally only carried by the P-38's or in the Pacific... Using the Revell kit, so it will look a bit different! Looking forward to that build.. :)
Thank you.. :) I'm yet to do a P-47 N though.. but when I do it will probably be two built together.. one WWII and one post-war.. :) I'm behind with the Hurricane but it should still be my next video, I only post about one a week.. :)
Yes, the P-47 Thunderbolt is my favourite WWII aircraft... I'm slowly building up a collection of them, both WWII and post war.. :) I have no shortage of ideas when it comes to building Thunderbolts.. :)
Hi Rob nice to see the 47 in Brazilian colours, very few this side of the pond know Brazil was even in WW2.. A first class model on your part as always and nice display at the end, maybe try and get one of every nation that used her... is that just to many even for you....all the best mate....Pete..
Looking forward to it.. :) Will pop round and catch up on your videos later, I have had a busy day today with no sleep so am VERY tired right now.. We had a leaking pipe and it has caused us a lot of extra work. Luckily the insurance will pay for most of the repairs, but it is still a nuisance.. :P
I have no shortage of plans for P-47 builds.. just a permanent lack of time! :P But I hope to complete a P-47 in 1/144 scale before long, and also one in 1/48.. just to add to the mix of scales a bit.. :) :)
Tamiya Razorback, just a beautiful looking kit, they're just harder to find, so they must be good lol. I've got a special project in mind, and its the best to use for that. :)
Ouch.. hope you survived!! When I first moved to the UK I did endless overtime, and had a second job at weekends.. it brought in some extra and much needed money when we bought the house! But now I'm doing nights I would never manage a second job.. luckily my resent promotion have given me a bit extra in the wallet again, but most of that is eaten up by bills now.. :P It has also meant extra stress at work, I'm definetely even more tired now.. :P
I certainly don't mind, even if I can't guarentee I will, or can, build it straight away.. I'm still sitting on kits people sent me a couple of years ago, but I have to be in the right mood for certain projects.. :) But yes, I am happy to take it off you and see what I can do with it.. should be an interesting rigging project, certainly!! :)
Thank you.. :) It's the first time I heve heard of pilots not liking the job, but I guess actual combat flying is different from flying for pleasure.. :) I was in the Swedish Air Force as you know but I stayed deep underground.. :)
Hey I am a young modeller and I am really inspired by your creations and could you recommend a 1:72 model thats a good kit because I don't know what to choose
I've always wanted a couple with the 'rocket tubes', but there's not many photos of Jugs with them.. I know they trialled them at Boxted, but again photo evidence is rare, as to what aircrfat used them.. So when I came across photos of Brazilian Jugs and they nearly all carried these tubes, I just had to build one.. or two, as the case may be! But the second one will be in olive drab, not natural metal.. :) Whenever I get round to it.. :)
The Revell 1/72 P-47 D is my favourite kit of all and it is a nice, cheap kit which builds a good model.. or maybe an Airfix 1/72 Spitfire Mk.IXc or Mk.I.. of the new toolings.. :)
I haven't got that many P-47's, but overall, yes, I have more models now than I have the space to display.. which is becoming a bit of a problem.. but I'm still building.. :)
The correct shade for P-47 wheelbays is 'chromate yellow', and I used the 'TamiyaColor XF-4' as that is a very good 'chromate yellow' shade.. Not sure what the equivalent colour is in Humbrol or Revell or any other make... :)
I haven't even started my planned Fw 190 collection yet... Well, I guess I have as I did build a 'Dora' not that long ago.. and I hope to get a Fw 190 A-8 / R-11 done as well before too long, to go with the rest of my German (and other) night fighters.. :) That is my biggest problem when it comes to modelling.. I can hardly ever build just ONE of any aircraft that I really like.. :) And the P-47 is right on top of them all, when it comes to WWII fighters.. :)
It looks amazing! I can say that in your last models there is a dramatic change to the best! Is this the P-47 which revell reboxed and you once said you wanted to buy?
Yes, I think so too.. I have built a few Turkish aircraft, but I prefer the period when the Türk Hava Kuvvetleri used the big red square insigna, rather then the roundels they use these days.. :) Still, I will probably build some modern Turkish jets later on as well, at some point.. :)
The Brazilian Army also fought some decisive battles on the ground in Italy.. Can't help but wondering why they got involved but they did, and did so very well, making a big difference to the war effort.. :) I will build another Brazilian Jug later on, in olive drab camo.. :)
hi rob this is a lovely example. p-47 are one of my favorite planes. i was just wandering if you still had the original decals for that kit as i have had a slip up with mine. and if you could possible send me them. thanks
I think I should have them left somewhere.. Trouble is, I may need the checkered cowl decal for another project of mine, unless I have a spare set. Unfortunately I will not have time to look for them right now as I am travelling to Sweden in a couple of days and will be busy getting ready for that. Now I'm off to bed as I work nights, and am doing my last night before my holiday tonight.. but if it's not urgent, remind me again at the end of this month when I'm back in the UK again and I will have a look.. Apologies, Rob.
no worries its not massively urgent also its not the eileen scheme i need its the other one the 88 'rabbit' . thanks for the fast reply have a good holiday in sweden =)

hi, , just started modelling, and when searching about tips, i found ur videos. thnks a lot, learned many thing. thanx from turkey
A realy lovely P47, nice to see the makings of an often forgotten allied nation. Great vid.
That's a great metal finish. Always keeping it fresh with different decals.
Thank you very much... all natural metal P-47's are my favourite models when it comes to weathering, because they are so easy to do.. :)
Glad you enjoyed it.. :) I didn't go into a detailed build as I have shown this kit before.. :)
very nice Rob!! I want to build the Tamiya 1/48 P-47D, I heard so many good things about that kit!! gorgeous collection you have there my friend! thanks for sharing it with us!
Wonderful build, and an excellent collection, I've got to go and finish my P-47 now. Hope to see more P-47's in the near future :)
Brilliant collection of Thunderbolts 👍👍
Yep - I've just watched your great new Airfix Spitfire build and seen the Spit collection... that's given me the push I need to get back up into that attic!

But I'm building up a good collection of decals.. slowly!
Thanks.. I do like to build and show alternative markings of aircrfat, as and when I can.. :) Glad you liked it.. :)
Great build Rob... beautifull jug.. and your collection is fantastic mate
Thanks.. and yes, I'm quite happy with that collection.. I may take it to the next model show I go to in May, and show it on the club table.. :)
ha ha glad to hear it, I too am going to build a 1:48 P-47 as soon as its back in stock. Keep it up man your the best!
nice build, your collection must be massive, love the history before hand
Thank you.. and that is why I like to build these 'odds and ends' when it comes to aircraft.. because I learn some history myself in the process, and sometimes make other people aware of things as well, that they did not know.. another great thunderbolt in your collection, simply awesome :)
Thank you very much, coming from you that is high praise indeed.. :)
Thank you very much, I'm glad you liked it all.. :)
nice collection of p47 s there Rob :) and another great one added to the collection
Nice job as always, perfect addition to a cracking collection of Thunderbolts :)
Thank you.. and yes, I'm very pleased with the way it turned out.. :) :)

You're very welcome, I'm glad you found my videos helpful.. :) Did you see the Turkish P-47 D in my collection?? :)
Thank you.. I assume there were never any P-47's based in Malta, USAAF or RAF?? :)
great wok mate it looks fantastic this plane thanks for this great build
Just finished another Hurri.. but unfortunately I won't be able to include a 'selection of my collection' of Hurricanes in that video, as far as I know, because we will have workmen and drying fans in the house over the next few weeks sorting things out to do with a bad leak we had the other week. Thank you.. The Thunderbolt is my favourite WWII aircrfat and I always try to give them a little bit extra tender love and care... :)
Nice Thunderbolt. Very unusual painting scheme, like it a lot. Although I like the razorback more it is still a beautiful aircraft :D
Thank you.. :) Metal aircraft are easy to weather.. now I need to start practtising to weather camo painted aircrfat too.. :)
Splendid job as always Rob
Nice refreshing take on a common subject, top job :)
Thank you.. Those brave pilots deserve any credit they can have.. and the more people that know about them, the better.. :) I hope I made the P-47 justice in Brazilian colours, it was a fun project to build.. :)
Really nice work!! I'm thinking about getting an academy 1/72 P-47D, and looking at this I think I will.
Just like the Spitfire or the Hurricane, I can't have too many!! :) I just wish I had a 'bunker' like yours to sit and build in.. I even wouldn't mind the washing, if it meant I could have the stuff out and ready for whenever I had a minute to sit down and build.. :)

Thanks... It is an art brushing silver, but every now and again I manage to do a reasonably decent job of it.. :) :)
как всегда, шикарная модель и коллекция! смывка тоже хорошо получилась. мне тоже нравятся модели самолётов от academy. они очень легко собираются.
Really good job mate. And love your collection top notch.
I have no shortage of plans for P-47 builds.. just a permanent lack of time! :P But I hope to complete a P-47 in 1/144 scale before long, and also one in 1/48.. just to add to the mix of scales a bit.. :) :)
nice Rob, and I noticed the 'Turkish insignia on one of the models..super!
Nearest Humbrol is 81 and it's in both the enamel and acrylic ranges. I think it's an incorporation of the old Authentic HD4 in the standard range.
Thank you. I'm happy with that collection, even though it's a bit small at the moment.. :)
Very nice selection of p-47's bm! Also liked the Brazilian version I had no idea they were active in ww2
top notch mate.to be honest you cant tell that they have been hand painted at all.Five gold stars to you with a bit of tap to put them on;).
Really Nice Thunderbolt in Brazilian Markings :) And the rest of your P-47's too :)
As always an excellent video. Keep them coming.

Thank you very kindly.. :) :) Much appreciated, I have to say.. :)
Nice! I have a plane I want to build soon with a similar finish. Should be on it in July.
She was quite the "Tank" in the air... An under appreciated airframe considering its accomplishments...
I haven't got that many P-47's, but overall, yes, I have more models now than I have the space to display.. which is becoming a bit of a problem.. but I'm still building.. :)
Preciosa colección de Thunderbolt.- Felicidades.-
Damn, that thing is huge! Anyway, that is awesome model, as always! :))
AWESOME Result!!! Great job:)

You do some truly beautiful work. Do you know anyone that wants a 1/72 Novo Vimy?
I like the Razorback too, but I don't have so many kits or decals for that version, unfortunately.. :) Thank you.. :)
They looks all good!
Pekná klasická modelárska práca , ktorá prináša potešenie zo stavania modelu .
Thank you!! Why.. you're thinking of selling one? :)
It looks amazing! I can say that in your last models there is a dramatic change to the best! Is this the P-47 which revell reboxed and you once said you wanted to buy?
Thud?? :) Either way, glad you liked it.. :) :)
Yes, that is one of my favourite 'Jugs'.. Thanks. :)

Ešte raz vám ďakujem! Rád stavať od všetkého trochu, ale hlavne WWII a studená vojna lietadlo .. :)
Thank you very very much.. :) :)
Приветствую, Роб ! Отличная коллекция ! И всегда кажется, что мало !!!! Вопрос, эти Р-47 от разных производителей или от одной Академии ?
Thank you.. and I sure will.. try to stop me if you can!! :) :)
yes, Yes, YESSSS! :D

да, видел. некоторое количество p-47 было поставлено в советский союз по ленд-лизу. приятно видеть советский p-47 в вашей коллекции))
Looking good rob, hope to see your lanc soon :)
Thank you very kindly, Sir.. :)
