honestly one of my favourite rh albums. i will never understand the people who keep saying this album is mid. i think people just compare it to their other work too much, its wonderfully different and meditative and i love it a lot.
The basement session is what really sold it to me, it wasn't until I fully digested that when the studio album started to click for me. It seemed somewhat robotic and the production was different, even for them (I kind of dig it now though). Even though I didn't love the studio album right away I still kept coming back to it and the addition of the 3 extra songs from the basement cemented it as a great project.
As great as this very experimental album is the basement session for it is truly next-level. The album really comes to life when they have to recreate it in a live setting, and the addition of a second drummer really make it one of the most interesting uses of 2 drummers iv'e ever heard.
Ed hasnt used an ebow in a very long time. He had a custom strat made with a sustainer pickup. Later, Fender released the EOB Strat as a signiture guitar, the only radiohead instrument for sale. Also check out thegigrig who has done a few videos about putting together Eds pedalboard.
Great to see some love for the King Of Limbs. That 4 track run at the end there is up there with their best work. And if you add The Daily Mail and Staircase as the 'extra' tracks...well, it's some piece of work isn't it?
I'm from Brazil, I love following radiohead's reactions from abroad, and yours are one of my favorites, the king of limbs is also in my top 3 favorite radiohead albums, behind The Bends and A Moon Shaped Pool :D Do you intend to react to the b sides of the albums?
magpies indeed is known for steeling, especialy shiny things, however bird who lay eggs in other birds nest is called a common cuckoo (Cuculus canorus).
Yeah, the "From the Basement" version is almost Universall considered so far above the studio it is almost an entirely different album. This record is all about rhythm, samples, loops and such, sso it is quite incredible to have it played live and turns out amazing,
The weakest moments of this record is when it doesn't feel like Radiohead and more like Thom and friends, but the moments where it is Radiohead is honestly top 10. Bloom and Separator is as Radiohead, Radiohead can get.
So glad you mentioned tame impala, I mentioned him months ago asking you to start with currents (his most accessible) and then Lonerism. Still think you would love each album for different reasons each time since they’re all unique compared to each other whilst remaining psychedelic Also it’s the cuckoo that does that with the eggs, magpies don’t do that but they will kill birds eggs to eat. “Cuckoo” is the name across animals for replacing another species eggs, there’s a type of fish that does that to another fish which is also called a cuckoo
In my opinion, this album could have been a masterpiece if Feral and Maggie's Pie had been replaced with Staircase and The Daily Mail. Similarly, In Rainbows had two incredible songs left out-Last Flowers and Go Slowly-that could have made the album even better.
Nice music taste, I love all of those songs too. Although I actually like Morning Mr. Magpie (Feral can be removed from existance though). Particularly the Daily Mail/Staircase is probably my favourite single of all time that didn't make an album.
Just saw your JID The Forever Story reaction and was about to comment right there, but no way you'll see this on 4 months old video. I think you'll like Spillage Village Spilligion album, especially when you said you need another JID album. Spillage Village is a group with JID, EARTHGANG, 6LACK and couple other artists. In my opinion Spilligion is highly underrated and very similiar to JIDs Forever Story.
I would say 'just to feed your fast ballooning head' would be akin to calling somebody 'bigheaded'. You would call somebody a bighead when they're think they're more important, intelligent, skilful etc than they really are.
37:15 I don’t think that’s true. I think the work that he did was a product on his struggles, not the other way around. If anything, it’s the success that came after creating that caused him much pain. The relationship with fans was quite difficult for sure, I just think it was poorly worded there.
After you're done with Radiohead, please give The Smile a try. It's Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead, with Tom Skinner from Sons of Kemet on drums Their second album Wall of Eyes is best
tamerail or me 😍💋💖💝❤️
Tammy 🤤
honestly one of my favourite rh albums. i will never understand the people who keep saying this album is mid. i think people just compare it to their other work too much, its wonderfully different and meditative and i love it a lot.
It is very different but I think this is an album where you have to actually listen to it multiple times to like it

Codex alone is worth the price of admission.
I feel the same way about Pablo Honey . I think it is one of their best . It's a sort of happy more poppy radiohead.

Last 4 songs are peak

Really hoping he at least does In Rainbows Disk 2.
There really are a lot of b-sides too..A lot to explore that you don't initially even expect..
codex is genuinely such a beautiful song for me
BTW, you'll see in the From the Basement, but it's a real drummer, two of them this time actually. They brought in Clive Deamer from Portishead
Yessss I saw the two bald guys 🙂↕️
8:30 Kevin Parker is indeed the frontman of Tame Impala, but isn't a band. It's all him. crazy impressive what he has done as a solo artist.
lotus flower is top 10, idk why ppl say this album is bad
It definitely isn't the best but lotus flower carries the album for sure
I only like the second half. Bit of a slog at the start.
Lotus flower live slaps so hard. That bass brings down the motherfooking house
magpies indeed is known for steeling, especialy shiny things, however bird who lay eggs in other birds nest is called a common cuckoo (Cuculus canorus).
I think Hail to the Thief is Radiohead's most underrated album, but this one definitely doesn't deserve the hate it gets.
One my favourite Radiohead albums.
incredible album that never got the recognition it deserved. It's a nature inspired vibey ambient experimental masterpiece imo.
Wenn du mit radiohead durch bist musst du the smile machen. Das ist eine Band die Thom York und Jonny Greenwood von radiohead gegründet haben :)
Lmao brah ive greatly appreciated this journey with you. Continue it with solo albums and side projects (atoms for peace & the smile)
Also modeselektor feat Thom Yorke.. I hope I don't need to say more
Also also, give up the ghost from the basement creeps into my top 5
The Daily Mail is in my top 5 Radiohead tracks, especially the live one.
It goes soooo hard
Seconded
of course my goat would like this album

I listened to Tame Impalas Currents for the first time today, and its SO GOOD. Definitly worth to react to, id be hyped to hear your thoughts on it!
The weakest moments of this record is when it doesn't feel like Radiohead and more like Thom and friends, but the moments where it is Radiohead is honestly top 10. Bloom and Separator is as Radiohead, Radiohead can get.
You gotta listen to the smile after your radiohead journey!
I mean, you have to keep going after moon shaped pool with the smile, Thom and Jonny's new band. They have 3 albums 2 of them were released last year
Very atmospheric album. It's very fun to move to when you listen to it. Dance nightmares.
Another King of Limbs lover! that's great, me 2
This whole album can be seen as Thom’s struggles with his ego, with this in mind it makes a lot of sense.
Definitely check out Tom and Jonny's new band "The Smile". Similar grooves on that album!
Feral is great
I cant wait until you do A Moon Shaped Pool
Codex......😭😭😭😭beautiful
In no particular order, my favorite four from the album are Morning Mr. Magpie, Little by Little, Lotus Flower, and Codex. Separator is probably #5.

The Radiohead collab with Hans Zimmerman for Blue Planet is very cool but my favorite version is still from the basement (for Bloom).
Little by Little is easily my favorite song from the album.
My 2025 is to gooning until i fill a gallon

So hyped for the ranking video 🙏 if you put HTTT below #1 spot I will be sending a hitman after you
Watch the video for Lotus Flower

Genuinely don't agree. as much shit as feral gets, I couldn't imagine the album without it.
You really really really should vheck out Thom's and Johnny's other band, "the smile". ITS SO effin good!
Listen to Ants From Up There, by Black Country New Road please!!!!! It’s so good!
Codex breaks me every time 💔👌
W take, this is one of Radiohead’s best.
Just reviewed my 2024 Sporify listenings again, though in Rainbows is my favorite Radiohead album, Separator from TKOL is my most played song by far.
Thanks cutie. You should listen to the Basement versions...
Glad to be this early
last 4 songs carry this album but they honestly carry the album so far
So early its still cooking

Can you maybe react to Tha Carter 2 or 3 by Lil Wayne? he's one of the best lyricists OAT and was a huge inspiration for for example Kendrick and JID
It’s rightfully rated
Magpies sound like they are laughing at you
Yeah, they have a distinctive raucous cackle.
Didn't you get the memo, tamerail? People hate this album.
It's ok, though, I love it too.
hot take alert! but this album is better than ok computer and also radioheads 3rd or 4th best album :)

You should check out another psychedelic group from Australia King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard!
Please listen to tame impala!!!
While I think this is their least good album, it’s still really good and tasty to listen to every now and then
Do you have a favourite radiohead song? Just wondering :)
Maybe can tell us after he does A Moon Shaped Pool next.
do moon shaped pool

Please react to London Calling by The Clash
listen to v2.0 by GoGo Penguin
After you are done with Radiohead, Ween would be nice.
All songs contributed to the album... except you Feral XD
sadly a lot of skips on this one, but Magpie can stay. also The Daily Mail is an absolute all-timer
let's try Deftones bro😘😘
