About Thom being married, yes, he was married when this album was released. Sail To The Moon was made for his son, and a year later they had a daughter too. Thom was married with Rachel for 23 years, and they got divorced in 2015. Unfortunaly, Rachel died of cancer in 2016, few months after A Moon Shaped Pool realease, which makes the album even more gut wrenching.
11:20 Radiohead actually wrote a song for a James Bond movie. It’s a great song called Spectre, but it was denied and not put into the movie even thought it was amazing. I’d really recommend listening to it :)
The best James Bond song instead they went with Writing on The Wall because apparently The Spectre was too "dark" and melancholic for a James Bond movie...
According to the Bond Song doc They submitted Man of War as the song for Skyfall. Then sometime after they decided too dark. At that point Radiohead stopped their Moon Shape recording session and recorded Spectre and submitted it to their Bond producers, unfortunately by that point they already got Sam Smith’s submission and went with it. The kicker, the producers listened to it and regretted their decision, but it was too late as the editors already made the intro to the movie with Writing on the Wall.
You mention a few times about how Radiohead has this "Rock" and "Kid A" sound between different tracks. Keep going, the best Radiohead tracks make it impossible to differentiate between both of them.
Your Radiohead reactions are among my favorite. Ive thoroughly enjoyed listening to these albuns with. Please take your time with the rest, ill be sad when its over. But then you can do thom Yorke solo projects, atoms for peace and the smile.
Also Radiohead from the basement! It's a recording of them playing in rainbows and king of limbs live. Bro, ya gotta do that when you finish the studio versions
Not only some of their songs sounds like a James Bond theme, but they actually composed a James Bond theme for Spectre. The song was rejected for being "too dark" for the movie... dumbest decision ever. There's a video on youtube of the Spectre opening sequence with Radiohead's Spectre song, it's just perfect.
Hail to the Thief is an album they made in about two weeks, mostly just live performance in the studio (rather than overdubbing). They just kind of threw it together, experimenting as they went.
the first time i listened to it, i went in feeling pretty mellow and came out with it being solidly within my favorites of all time list, and absolutely astounded. i absolutely urge you to come in very excited, but not terribly so!!!!!! just listen and feel it man, thats how its best enjoyed
Don't go into the album thinking about "Radiohead Rock" and "Radiohead Electronic" and enjoy what Radiohead sounds like when they finally don't give a shit about tracks fitting nicely into either and do whatever makes a song sound the most orgasmic to the ear ;-).
after i first heard sit down, stand up, I cant look outside when it rains the same again also this is my favourite album of theirs. its experimental and inconsistent but I love it for that. I've also reordered the album on spotify to make it flow better IMO (I didn't remove any songs.)

The snowy train story in Japan happened in January 1998. "The first musical ideas for the song also stem from 1998. These were programmed by Thom on his QY70 sequencer. When working on Kid A, this sketch was developed into a rhythm track by Jonny and Colin during the experimental electronica-only sessions in early 2000."
As a more casual Radiohead listener, I have mostly gravitated to songs from The Bends and OK Computer. However, "There,There" has become a favorite for being their own ecclectic sound while the guitar gives me occasional R.E.M. and Pearl Jam vibes.
I always find it funny when he doesn’t check the little lyric stuff. Radiohead has talked a lot about thier music and it’s reframed how see some of their songs
I’ve always seen HTTT as the perfect “best of” Radiohead album, but only made out of new songs, it’s really the one album that summarises what they/who they are as a band with the more experimental bits of Kid Amnesiac, and the more Pop Rock of their earliest work, it’s also an album that was amazing live, touring festivals… A great entry point to make someone discover RH for the first time, cause it gives you a great overview of what they do while still keeping their best work for later!

I unironically love “We Suck Young Blood”. The break lasting for so short and bringing you back down again is like getting the energy and blood sucked out of you.
This is their politically orientated angry album. But because it's Radiohead there's plenty of beautiful moments and I always lived this album and my only issues are small like Backdrifts is a couple of minutes too long and We Suck Young Blood is meh. This album gets shit because it's too long which, to me, is stupid because I don't care how many tracks are on an album as lony as I like the tracks. This album was recorded nothing like their other albums, they wanted a more raw sound so they recorded it in like 4 weeks if I remember correctly. Some of the tracks are sort of not polished in a way. They normally spend years crafting their records and every sound is well thought out. There's still a bunch of great to really good songs on it and I always loved this record. Garage band Radiohead is still great which is not a surprise to me.
Hail to the Thief is a wonderful album. There, There is my most played track off this album. is my favorite RH album. I think some albums are better, but In Rainbows is still my favorite.
Sadly I've got many troubles uploading that to TH-cam :( I could only do it with sooooo much edited out, blurring the image etc. but that really ruins the vibe idk. You can watch it on Patreon if you want to but I can't get it on TH-cam properly
The album has some of Radiohead’s best works but it’s a little bloated and inconsistent. For me it works better if you drop “I Will” and “We Suck Young Blood”. Not that they’re bad songs, they just break the flow. Relegate them to B-sides. Maybe squeeze I Will in as the penultimate track but with 12 tracks the album is a lot tighter and everything else is already in its right place… 1. 2+2=5 2. Sit Down Stand Up 3. Sail To The Moon 4.
