I would love to see Sophia's dynamic with Selina and Bruce, also Oz plotting with other canon villains. 10 out of 10 show. That said, even I thought it was a bit weird to not have Batman even make a brief cameo in season 1, but they pulled it off. However, if this show went to a season 2, Pattinson would have to join as a series regular. You couldn’t have Penguin causing as much trouble for multiple seasons and still never have Batman appear. One season was perfect.

Sofia could’ve easily been a character who exists to be in another bait and switch show by overshadowing Oz, but they included her the best way possible by having her be Oz’s antithesis in the criminal underworld. She has a sympathetic background, Oz doesn’t. She’s a woman of her word, Oz is manipulative. However, they both start from the bottom and have similar senses of ambition. Neither are good people, but compelling villains in their own right. Who should be rooted for is entirely up to you.

Remember the line from Francis Cobb in Ep 7: "Yeah. Well, some people are easy marks"
That perfectly alludes to a lot of the audience falling for the penguin's "underdog" facade. Many excused all of the heinous shit he did throughout the series right up until he killed Vic and were like "Wow. Fuck Oz!" Even though there are plenty of examples prior (gutting Ervad, ratting on Sofia which gets her sent to Arkham, burning Sal's wife and son alive and smiling about it, letting his brothers drown in the tunnels and protecting himself in that very spot from Sofia's bomb while not warning any of his men) so many people still acted so surprised Penguin mercilessly killed Victor. He played so many of us like a fiddle throughout which is what makes a man like him so dangerous. I personally switched sides by Episode 4, but I believed there was still some redeeming qualities about Oz, but by the end of the series, any sense of humanity in the Penguin is gone and we will root for him getting a can of whoop-ass by The Batman.

As far as the show itself is concerned, it was way better than I was expecting. I really like how it avoided the trap a lot of villain-centric media falls into where they try to soften the character’s image in order to make him more “likable” (i.e., ‘The Book Of Boba Fett’). They really weren’t afraid to make Oz a total scumbag, and it definitely made me feel bad for rooting for him by the end (but not in a way that felt like a cheap gotcha, but rather where I’m slapping my forehead and going “Of course! How could it NOT end that way?”). Really looking forward to seeing how the character factors in to ‘The Batman: Part II’.

I could sense the end coming for Vic, but it didn't make it any easier to watch. From a storytelling perspective, I love how it just made sure you truly remembered that Penguin is the villain. Not just A villain... THE villain. The Batman-level villain. It was all just a side-quest to get you really emotionally invested in Batman taking him down. He's not just some cut-rate henchman, he's the real deal - the kind that only vigilante justice can handle. And they punctuated that wonderfully with the Bat Signal lighting up in the sky is the last second of the series. I absolutely loved the casting and the acting in this show. You can't really overstate Colin Farrell's performance, but Cristin Milioti absolutely nailed it as Sofia Falcone. Talk about striking that perfect line between sane and crazy. Just a great show all around, if you don't mind a really dark show.

The really tragic and painful thing about Vic's death was that all the kid wanted was to matter; to leave some kind of lasting impact on a city that took everything from him and never cared about him. So what happens after his death? Oz takes the money from his wallet and chucks his ID in the river.
Everyone else who knew Vic is either dead or gone. When his body is found, he's going to be declared a John Doe who got shot during a mugging; totally forgotten.

This show showed how Oz is really messed up in his head and only belongs in Arkham Asylum. Not sure if it's Oedipus complex but this is what drives Oz to his villainy. This is a tricky show to execute with the main character being a villain and an underdog at the same time. We wanna root for the character but not too much that we forget he's a true villain with a messed up head. Choking his trusted right hand man to death surely reminds us all of what he really is. A really great villain story after The Riddler, I'm curious what Matt Reeves has in store for a story of The Joker. Can't wait for The Batman 2.

The "proud of that transition" line made me rewind the portion that I'd skipped and now I'm interested in purchasing MANDO... F&*^% nice job Jeremy!

This show was well done, kudos to the entire team 🎉
The ending broke me though, I got up and left the room. It was epic.

Nothing I can add to what you've already said, Jeremy- what a show!🤯 Sofia was actually my favourite character, wow.

I hate how relatable this show made penguin especially towards the end as a high functioning sociopath. I think penguin might be the most relatable protagonist I've ever seen aside from maybe Kane from Kane and Lynch

I just finished it a couple days ago what i loved about the show it's basically true to it's comic/animated series roots. It's kind of like scream where a protagonist can survive a hundred stabs while everyone else diees after one or two.
The penguin was really a comic book character getting out of jams. It reminded me of george clooney in oh brother where art thou 'damn we are in a tight spot!'

5:40 "But even with that bombing scene you see the actual nature of the man there. Behind all the speeches all the "You know we're going to do this and I'm there for you and Society shut you out but you have a place with me. I got your back."
Funny you should mention Turtles because that sounds a lot like Shredder's speech to the Foot Clan.

This and Shogun are the perfect 1 season and done. Doesn’t overstay its welcome. Respect. Basically 7-8 hour movies
