whats some people say you CANT adjust the grind size WITHOUT the machine running ?
Hi MM, With this type of grinder you can almost always adjust to a coarser grind without the grinder running. It's usually possible to adjust a grind slightly finer without it running as well. But do be careful and don't force anything. Lower cost grinders with plastic parts in the path of the grind adjustment mechanism can be damaged if forced when adjusting finer without the grinder running.
Hi Mike, which # setting would you recommend for regular brewing? For French Press? For Espresso(using Rancilio Silva machine). Thank you for your help!
Hi EK, Thanks for the question. Problem is I can't really give you a setting number. Your grinder might be calibrated differently than mine. I've linked a video below that has visual references to grind sizes for various brewing methods. In general regular drip or pour over brewing uses a "medium" grind. Press/immersion brewing is "medium-coarse". Espresso is totally different where grind size is way more critical than in other brewing methods.
