hey! mine just arrived to the Uk and the tamper is not full metal, it has a plastic bottom which is not a cover, cant be removed, did it happen to you?
@@marcosgarcia270 No, my tamper is made of metal with a wooden handle.
Strange that yours is different as I am also in the UK.
Bought my Rancilio Silvia and Rocky grinder through Cafe Italia on line who buy direct from Rancilio in Milan.
@@paulnjoo Hi mate! same, i ordered to UK and from caffe italia, which Customer Service is terrible so far, not a single reply in a full week... and the tamper so bad all the static makes it impossible to actual tamper nicely, it would just attract half of the grounds and ruin the puck... anyway, machine is lovely and I'll just get over it and buy a new tamper. thanks for the quick reply!!
@@marcosgarcia270 Just had a thought, is your grouphead (the part of the machine you insert the portafilter) black or silver?
If it's silver you have got an older version 5 which came with the plastic tamper. If it's black (as mine is) it's the latest version 6 and comes with the all new metal tamper.
Just done the same 1 year on, hope your Silvia is making good espresso

On the manual for this machine, step 4 directs to open the steaming wand. Would that make any diference. I followed your directions and my machine is working fine and all, just wanted to run this by you.
Opening the wand will allow water to flush faster once the machine is filling with water. It should be good to go.
Awesome video! Do you think the lead free brass is safe or would you recommend buying one with stainless steel?
Thank you! Yes, it is safe as far as I know, SS boilers are better obviously but depend on the machine you are looking for. For this budget, it is a great option. Hope this helps, -Y

My Shots are coming out like an americano not espresso… seems water is coming through the basket way to fast. Is my grind to fine?
Hello! If the coffee runs too fast, you will need to adjust it to be finer. You can also use a scale and make sure you use 14-17 grams, whatever basket is in use, and last and most important, use fresh coffee, no older than three weeks from the roasting date. Good luck!
What product did you use for cleaning? the white powder?
Cafiza Coffee Cleaner, you can find it on Amazon
Why shot button aren't programmable?
This is a basic machine with no flow meter.
It’s an Expresso machine so why not show the proper setting for grinding Expresso on the Rocky. Pretty expensive system for making coffee, dontcha think?
Please in 2021 and for 950 dollars is a good option? Or bad?
It really depends on your personal preference. I think the Silvia is good value for money and is well built so it can last many years. You can also look for a used one at a good price. I will not recommend on the Rocket grinder though. It is outdated and not worth the money. I will recommend the Eureka Mignon Silinzio as a starter. It's just a $100 more and it is so much better. You can also find good deals on those. Hope this helps! -Y

@@rolandocalderonguerra2346 These are two very diffarent machines in diffarent prices. The Silvia is only $730 while the Musica is $2625 (from SCG) over three times more, so obviously, it will be better but for that price, I would recommend going with a Rocket R58 if you have some extra cash. Also, you want to make sure that wherever you buy it from will give you a good warranty and local service, if something goes wrong, it will be better to have someone local rather than shipping it. @@ozespresso in peru i see musica simonelli for 1700 dollars rancilio silvia 950 dollars rocket here is the more cheap 2200 dollars i dont know i wanna buy rancilio silvio but the people tell me first to do a capuchine and do other i need to wait for the temperature but is a good machine other people tell me that musica simonelli is good but not so good i dont know what believe or what buy can give me advice please
@@rolandocalderonguerra2346 It depends on what you are looking for, these are very different machines, in a different price category. It's like asking what is better, Toyota, Honda Ford? They are all good and it depends on what the customer is looking for.
If you have the extra money, then go with the Rocke R58 or any other dual boiler machine.
The Silvia is a single boiler machine and is very basic. You can also buy the Silvia Pro X that just got released, perhaps that will be your best option. Also, please try and buy from someone local, it will help you in the long run. Cheers.
Great video. Is it worth installing a PID on the Rancilio Silvia?
To my opinion it’s not worth installing a PID on the Silvia as it could be problematic and there is no official support for this type of modification. If you want to send the boiler PID you can go with a different model or you can upgrade to the new dual boiler version of the Silvia. Hope this helps -Y
