Sennheiser > Astro, Steelseries, Turtle Beach, Logitech, Hyperx, Corsair, and etc.

Audio reviewers on TH-cam have always agreed that audiophile headphones will not make you a better gamer (hell, most pros use cheap or sponsored earbuds on LAN). Just like all peripherals, find whatever feels comfortable and keep playing, everything else is completely irrelevant

I think you might have something wrong with yours tbh. Fresh reviews is a YTer who’s a former Apex Pred player on Apex and a former professional csgo player. He said these are one of the best headphones there is for footsteps. And he’s actually really good on games like Apex and valorant. He used to main these headphones but now he mains the 900 x pro. Those are a little better than these

I have the 560s and it is actually incredible for fps and overall awareness. I think your dac might be the issue or you got a very defective model. The DT 1990 pro are my main, but 560s are incredible.

I bought the G6, because I want to use DT990 pros on my ps5. Also because I like my headphones loud enough to bleed my ears.

    What headphones do you reccommend?

This dude has no clue what he's talking about. Something is probably set up wrong.

    Do you use Dolby atoms?

Sound software is always really bad, a real pair of headphones + dac amp combo will seal the deal

If you can’t tell the difference between a pair of hd660s and a pair of steel series, you don’t deserve to take advantage of sound. It’s funny how you will tweak your pc to get as much performance out of it as possible and yet you shit on audio. Just foolish. Each will give a good gamer minor enhancements. If you are bad at gaming it will not help at all.

I used to fall into the trap of buying $300 "gaming" headsets. It's all a gimmick.

what you descibed as better "spatiality", is the passive soundstage, which is indeed better on open back headphones

Correct, I have a £30,000 audio setup and I play games in silence if I can.

SCOUT MODE ON: the wind sound is now higher than gunshots

Have you ever considered at all that it's not the headphones that are bad, but it's you who might be ignorant, so you did not even configure the headphones to use 3D spacial sound at all?

In some games it worked, PUBG for example really needed compression cause the plane and gunshots were so goddamn loud compared to footsteps so it was a perfect change to use compression.

I use a Creative AE-7 paired with Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro's. Blows on-board sound out the water. Not because of the Creative software though (it's bad like you said). I just enable "Direct Mode" to use it as a DAC. Then I'm running that through an Atom amp (around $100). Using a custom EQ through Peace. Everything sounds great. Can never go back to on-board audio. It's like trying to go back to 30FPS games after experiencing 240hz.

I have an Sound Blaster Z and I can say that the effects of SBX settings are more apparent with an actual surround sound system.
