Buffer stock is under water pressure and water comes from this storage tank when you open the tap to get filtered water. RO system filters water in a slow rate. If this tank is not there you would wait a lot to get required volume of filtered water right away.
Water flow under pressure is low so when you open the valve or tap it will flow about fourth or fifth volume of the pump without a tank. Its about 200cc to 400 cc. So you would spend 1 minute to flow a glass. So when you cutoff the water. Pump will fill the tank until it hits the required pressure. So it loads pressurized water in it. When you open the tap some amount of pressurized filtered water will be ready with a tank

I really like the animation, however it would be great to have some text to explain what each filter is doing, I know it is filtering the water, but what is each filter doing differently. Why is 5 filters better than 1? By the way i do know all these answers and do know how the Ro systems work, so the video is quite boring. I am sure other people watching this don't and for them some text would put it all in perspective.
From the tap(feed) water,there should be two streams,one being purified water and the other waste water. Water that gets into the system will be cleaned and other will be discarded. I've seen people recycling waste into the purifier but that clogs the filters way before time
That is taking it to the next level. I need to get some filtration installed. Might have to see how easy it is
