Nice bud! Now try a single flute cutter and the highest rpm you can do. Idk if you're looking to upgrade, but the new Sainsmart 3020 has a metal Z axis and linear rails on X.
Thats correct, the only upgrade was the 500w spindle kit as shown in a previous video. (I also did put a tub ontop of the cnc so that metal chips don't fly everywhere, but this shouldn't effect performance)
The next mod that i would do will be to upgrade the z axis to an all metal one or one with linear rails... Then liner rails on all axis And finally a heavier y axis table
Not on bare aluminum. This type of laser reflects off of metals such as aluminum. You could paint or anodize the keychain, and then engrave the writing into that instead.
@@CarbonCoil no I’m not trying to use the laser I’m trying to use the dremel type bit. Idk if it that makes sense but I do all my engravings by hand and it would be convenient if could just get a machine to do it. I researched the anodized way but I wasn’t really interested in that way. Thank you for replying 🙏
@@dc_andrade Sorry for the misunderstanding! This machine with an engraving V-bit could definitely be used to engrave into aluminum, especially if the engraving surface is flat. If you end up using a 3018CNC for this, I would love to hear how your project turns out!
For mine I used PLA but I would NOT recommend using this material. If you look closely, the spindle holder is actually already cracked at a seem near the screws. I would suggest printing it in ABS or something with even more mechanical strength.
@@CarbonCoil i would suggest something in between, like petg, abs has some springiness in their structure that will add some flex in the holder... And in CNC machining it's not the best idea...
A single pass in aluminum on this machine has to be very shallow (a few thousandths of an inch, I used 0.003”). By doing multiple passes, any depth can be cut as a result, (assuming the end mill is long enough).
Hi! am looking to buy one of these machines, to make parts for my armatures for stop motion puppets After two years, would you still give this tool a thumbs up? would love your insight Sir! 👍👍👍👍 Great video! and informative
Hi! I still stand by this review. While it takes a bit of work and tinkering to get quality parts from a machine like this, I’ve enjoyed the process just as much as the results.
@@CarbonCoil thanks a million for reply Sir! am buying next payslip! this will help me make Armature part, more quickly! thanks again! salute from the UK👌👌👌👌
Omg I love the hard drive sander that’s such a good idear!!!
I would love to see what kind of sanding media it has attached to it.
WTF! you flashed us your hard drive disc sander for 1 second! Cool

I managed to get my stock version to cut aluminium, slowly. 0.1mm feed rate 100-200mm/min. Problems with the X axis flexing. What is aluminum?
Get this man to 10k
Wow! That's amazing, for rough cutting is more than enough) Now, really want to buy one of this, they are really fairly cheap)
Bruh when I saw that improvised sander, it sent me flying, wth 🤣
Is the explosion in the water due to metallic sodium?
The tote cover is ingenius!
Thank you!!

Great video, thanks! Keep it going
Great job on the videos! Keep up the good work.
can you share the the model or a link where to buy exsactly the same model. because there are a lot of differet 3018 CNC.
I loved the sander with the cd player jaja
i hit the sub button when i saw the harddrive grinder :D
what is the difference of metal and aluminium? is metal can be engrave too by cnc 3018?
In the video I sometimes use “metal” to refer to “aluminium”. Aluminum is the only metal that this 3018 CNC can engrave.
I love the TMNT music
Thanks mate I couldn't find a answer to this haha
GRBL setting Configuration?
So... the only modification on this CNC its the 500w spindle? the rest its "plain vanilla"?

Thanks, keep on cutting
a 1/8th end mill will allow you to get away with a bit more , less interation with the part.
Is this machine worth to get
All time favourite videogame music. Tmnt ftw
did your spindle had separate power supply ?
Yes, my 500w spindle uses an external power supply that came with it.
Adding a like for he hardrive sander :)
Hello, could I use this machine to engrave small writing on an aluminum keychain?

@@CarbonCoil that’s great to hear! Yes I’ll have to get it pretty soon then! Thank you very much for the info! Take care and I’ll keep it touch🙏
Sodium?
Hello, what type of filament (PLA, TPU,...etc) did you use to print the spindle holder? . Thanks
For mine I used PLA but I would NOT recommend using this material. If you look closely, the spindle holder is actually already cracked at a seem near the screws. I would suggest printing it in ABS or something with even more mechanical strength.

@@Lucas_sGarage Thanks! I'll keep this in mind if I print it again.
How much depth we can cut,

Will this lightly etch stainless steel? I dont need much depth, just need to trace stencils ?
I've never tried to engrave steel. It's much much harder than aluminum, but it could be worth a shot if you just want to scratch the surface.
Have you tried? I would want to buy one of this machine only to engrave stainless steel
@@MrTaVy07 you definitely cant engrave with this. Only etch
Do you know which alloy you were cutting by chance?
I believe it was 6061-T6
Also what alley was that .. I'm hoping 5050 or the hardened version :p
6061-T6
Yep, it’s 6061
Does the tote help with noise any?
A bit, but it's still not something you would want to keep running in the same room that you are working in for extended periods
Can it do stainless steel??
Probably not, but I haven't tried it
Is this a stock 3018?
No, the spindle has been upgraded: th-cam.com/video/x3ixNgt9XRk/w-d-xo.html
Witch is the best cnc for aluminium plate...???
As far as desktop CNCs are concerned, the 3020 Pro Max from Genmitsu is a good option. Review video for this machine coming soon!

es el ttc3018S ???
It’s not a TwoTrees branded machine, although the build before the spindle upgrade was very similar.
I think that was music from Turtles in time.
Epoxy fill the center.
HDD Sander LOL

Not able to cut to the correct dimension and tolerance means it's not able to cut Aluminum
can make parts of aluminum but don't expect perfect surface finish nor accurate dimensions ... okay ..
