If they'd put them at more reasonable prices, more people would buy the stuff and probably make them more money overall than trying to whale catch.

There are too many things wrong with this video, you know that LOR's problem was being too generous, right? You cannot compare a card game with League of legends in league 99% of the "new content" are skins a product made directly to be sold that does not contribute anything to the game, in card games you have expansions, all that art, animations, Voice acting costs money. By purchasing bundles and cosmetics you are paying for that content. I don't think Hearthstone generates as much money as it did before, the last thing we know is that Blizzard's profits were leaked at the beginning of the year and they said that Hearthstone is in the red, all the cuts they have made during the year suggest that the leak is true.
The Exile's hope which is the neutral starships signature cards are sorta worth it since u get all starships in signature style like someone said bunch of tcgs that have a premium for shiny cards. & When the new starships come out you'll have the signatures for those starships as well.
Crazy idea: Instead of spending 20-50 dollars on a picture, advocate for people to spend 100 dollars on a share of stock. If the millions of people playing this game each did this, Then we can start participating in share holder meetings and have a million voices present saying we want the cosmetics to be fairly priced. We can relieve pressure off the team that makes the game we love by buying a seat at the table. If plural millions of people did that, it would work. But it’s all or nothing, one or two people isn’t enough.

Honest to god not only would I not pay 60 dollars for a reskin for a handful of card reskins, I would be hard pressed to pay that for even the most high quality looking skins in a game ever. Because I could easily spend that money on a new game or set of games or pretty much anything else more worthwhile for it. Overwatch doesn't charge this much and they are full modeled 3d skins you actually play as and see a part of in game. And now they are doubling down on monetization with a p2w edge in battlegrounds. Being locked to 2 choices is bad enough but now people will re-roll and find the better heroes instead of being forced to choose a lower tier hero and play with that.
you forget one very major thing, when i buy elementalist lux, or any other skin for that matter, all i need is to own the champion. technically i can see the skin EVERY GAME i play that champion. in hearthstone, i need, either the cards that go will with my other sig cards, which might not always be avilable to me, then i need the deck to be actually viable, then i need to draw the card, then i need to play it. and for class skins, not only are they just gifs with emotes only you can see cuz the opponent muted you the moment you started the game, you need to have a FULL DECK OF CARDS to even see the gif, which again only really works if you otp the class or wait for a viable deck for that class to exist.

I paid FORTY dollars for a batsaber in tf2. It's a lightsaber skin for scout's melee weapon. it makes funny sounds and vaporizes people when you kill them. :)
A big difference is in TF2 you can resell the items at a later time. I bought a lot of stuff in TF2 back in 2013 and I can still sell my entire inventory for more than I paid. In a game like Hearthstone with no economy or community trading, your money is entirely gone.
The biggest problem with the cards being so expensive is that it's bad value. Not even because some of the cards are bad. In my opinion, the worst part about it is that you may not see the cards you paid extra for that often. You might put these expensive cards in your deck, then never draw them. And that's if you still like the deck that they fit in; if you're a meta player, the meta might shift, and that deck is bad. The whole class could be bad and you have no chance of discovering them. I've put maybe $150 tops in Valorant, but I see my biggest purchases (Spectrum pistol+knife) EVERY GAME. I bought the pistol so other people can enjoy it, because the music is cool. As much as giving Riot my money feels bad, it would be worse to buy these signatures

Like free boards and music for each expansion, only a staple from the beginning. The $60 Rag skin to “replace” the free things actually takes away from the experience with disabling Both players ability to click the board.

The starship signatures are such a shame. I just thought of this: Why not have made them to resemble schematics, blueprints of the different parts? You could easily add writing that appears and fades in, a brighter glow, and probably more, and it would have been extremely unique, and in theme for such things. A lot of signatures are very pretty, but not gonna lie, they stopped being special when there's 35 signatures out of 145 cards (not counting the miniset yet). That's 1/4 of the entire set. All of them are overpried and none of them feel special anymore. Especially when a lot of cards getting those signatures are terrible unplayable cards that will never be good. Seriously, why do we need Dwarf Planet, Red Giant or Galactic Crusader? No one is ever gonna play them. I think I prefer to go back to the days when signatures were only for legendaries from packs and every single other one was a free gift from events. Diamond cards feel a lot more special now, but they took them away too, so you can only can buy them and not get a special Diamond card for completion.

I paid FORTY dollars for a batsaber in tf2. It's a lightsaber skin for scout's melee weapon. it makes funny sounds and vaporizes people when you kill them. :)

A big difference is in TF2 you can resell the items at a later time. I bought a lot of stuff in TF2 back in 2013 and I can still sell my entire inventory for more than I paid. In a game like Hearthstone with no economy or community trading, your money is entirely gone.

The biggest problem with the cards being so expensive is that it's bad value. Not even because some of the cards are bad. In my opinion, the worst part about it is that you may not see the cards you paid extra for that often. You might put these expensive cards in your deck, then never draw them. And that's if you still like the deck that they fit in; if you're a meta player, the meta might shift, and that deck is bad. The whole class could be bad and you have no chance of discovering them.
I've put maybe $150 tops in Valorant, but I see my biggest purchases (Spectrum pistol+knife) EVERY GAME. I bought the pistol so other people can enjoy it, because the music is cool. As much as giving Riot my money feels bad, it would be worse to buy these signatures
If the chapter about Hearthstone was written years ago that was probably the golden era, suits are gonna push the devs to make MORE money than back then

honestly not enough, they should sell dlc skins for cards in the quadruple digits and only have it for 1 card, so if you want them for commons you would have to pay twice

For the tenth anniversary of Hearthstone the higher ups really decided that to celebrate the game and its fans, they should take away A Lot. Like free boards and music for each expansion, only a staple from the beginning. The $60 Rag skin to “replace” the free things actually takes away from the experience with disabling Both players ability to click the board.
Fortnite skins cost $20 at the most premium quality. And they come with a bunch of cool stuff. I don't even play that game but I'd buy a Fortnite skin before I'd pay $60 for one of those bundles

The starship signatures are such a shame. I just thought of this: Why not have made them to resemble schematics, blueprints of the different parts? You could easily add writing that appears and fades in, a brighter glow, and probably more, and it would have been extremely unique, and in theme for such things.
Also, yeah, things are overpriced in HS, card packs are waaaaaaaay too expensive for instance.

I had actually been thinking about getting the starship cosmetics, but I had assumed they would be in a bundle with all of them, and at absolutely maximum been around 50$ (And that was a maybe). But at these prices? No. That's just ridiculous.

Edit: I read the "Play Nice" book you were talking about and yep HS was a cash cow that bailed out Blizzard from the sunk costs incurred on their failed projects. It was developed by a handful of people who were left alone to fuck around with an idea and given practically no funding. The start of HS was exactly what made blizzard great and the present HS is why the old blizzard we knew is long gone
I would actually buy them if the cosmetics were cheaper and were plentiful per the bundles because at the end of the day these are items I will never actually own. So I will not drop $60 as if I'm buying a AAA game.

I'm from honduras. My paycheck doesn't allow me to buy anything outside of the rewards track. Seeing these in the store honestly makes me want to stop playing, it makes me feel isolated, like they're only pushing the game towards rich people
I'm so glad that I haven't spent a dime in this game in the past 7 years. I'm also glad that I've never cared at all about cosmetics in gaming, otherwise this would piss me off a lot more than it already does. Not only is Blizzard god-awful, with some of the worst higher-ups of any AAA game company, they maintain such a terrible track record with garbage like THIS. The packs that come with those signature cards had better be LOADED with legendaries and golden cards, otherwise there is 0 way of justifying any of this, and even then, at 40-60 DOLLARS PER BUNDLE, it STILL wouldn't be worth a fraction of what they're charging. I've always known AAA companies were greedy, but goddamn, when it affects a game you actually play, and you see it laid out in front of you, clear as day, that greed is truly put into perspective.
Lowkey I was going to buy the rogue starship package because I found the signature Scavenger's Will sick af and I thought it would go by like, 20 dolars AT MOST (still expensive AS FUCK, but I have a nice disposable income this month so... eh, I could deal with it), but holy fucking shit I could actually just buy Elden Ring with that money without even waiting for a sale. A lot of signatures are very pretty, but not gonna lie, they stopped being special when there's 35 signatures out of 145 cards (not counting the miniset yet). That's 1/4 of the entire set. All of them are overpried and none of them feel special anymore. Especially when a lot of cards getting those signatures are terrible unplayable cards that will never be good. Seriously, why do we need Dwarf Planet, Red Giant or Galactic Crusader? No one is ever gonna play them.
I think I prefer to go back to the days when signatures were only for legendaries from packs and every single other one was a free gift from events. Diamond cards feel a lot more special now, but they took them away too, so you can only can buy them and not get a special Diamond card for completion.
I always thought the signature borders look ugly. The artwork is fine tbh, but the borders make them look so out of place.

I'm a f2p player so I've never really cared about prices (I wouldn't buy even at 5 dollars) but when I see this shit even I care.
And the saddest part is that I actually like the art! Artists in Heartstone are great. When they did signatures for core set cards, they were beautiful and signatures rn are not that bad and even that Maligos diamond skin is badass imo. It's just that I won't see them in the game as nobody will buy them
since they stop doing new cinematic , new board and new music in game i stop spoending any money on this fabulous game
Like if you buy the starship pieces as showcase…the ship is still gonna be golden….like MAYBE if they introduce new showcase spaceship skins this makes slightly more sense…slightly (to be fair tho im a free to play player)

I’ve been buying tavern pass since Forged in the Barrens. The Great Dark Beyond is the first expansion I didn’t do it and I’m going to stick with it. It’s not the same case but if Hearthstone is going to continue this then they will reach Marvel Snap level and that’s insane.
