I've been trying to stop my dad from slicing the ball for the past 15 years, and he just won't listen to me...
If there's one person he will listen too, it's his golfing idol and hero, Mr Gary Player, one of the golfing games most iconic players!

The words Mr Player said about relationships with parents rang true with me. My mum has alzheimer's disease and my dad is undergoing treatment for cancer. Golf’s been such a big part of my Dads life, he’s been to a lot of tournaments and he’s watched so much golf, so any chance I get from now to share something cool with my Dad, I will, as without him, I wouldn’t have ended up being a golfer and making a living doing something I enjoy 👌🏼

Fantastic, never played with my dad as he didn't like golf, but now playing almost every week with my son and I love it, Gary Player true golfing God and what a nice bloke as well, and what a credit you are too, you could feel the joy from your dad, keep them coming mate.

Your Dad looks star struck and so he should be. They say never meet your hero's because you will be disappointed but in Gary's case, he is every part the legend. I have only just come back to golf after a 25 year break and found Gary Player to be the guy that I keep coming back to for advice on youtube. My score went from 135 to 90 in 5 games.

Great video Gaz. Started playing again last year after 16 years., really enjoying the game. Haven't played for 2 months now due to having my 2nd knee replacement. Can't wait to get back on the course but I'm also a bit worried.

The grips so important, but any change feels horrendous, so you’ve got to have 100% trust and commitment to it feeling bad, and sometimes hitting bad shots, until it feels comfortable.
Not easy, but my dad did pretty well on the range to persist with it, hopefully we can keep on top of it now.
@@garymartingolfI’ve recently done the opposite from having a very strong grip for forty years to a slightly strong grip- it’s been hell and so difficult but after six weeks is starting to show results

Brilliant, glad it made your Dad's day, do you think the modern day players should interact with the normal players/fans more? i.e. Bryson , I understand it was sponsored by PXG but a bit more bonding with the guys on the street would enhance their reputation no end, I was lucky to be sat next to Seve at dinner back in the 80's at the Epson Grand Prix at St Pierre, this was pre selfie and loads of kids and adults came up and asked for an autograph, even though he was at dinner with his wife and children he smiled and gave his signature, that's why along with Gary, Seve will always be remembered as one of the greats of golf.
Since the video, many have said they bumped into Mr Player in public at golf courses, and he’s talked them to death. I think he’s just a lovely guy, great ambassadors for the game! I can’t imagine the modern pro’s with all their money and fame filling Mr Players boots, but I hope I’m wrong!
Golf needs these great legends of the game to keep sharing their wisdom and inspiring worlds to the next generation.
I’ve done the opposite had a very strongbgripmforvfortybyears and been trying to get near neutral - it’s felt horrendous but after six weeks is starting to show some great results - tell you Dad to stick with it and however difficult don’t creep the grip at address - grip it once and never change it until you hit the ball.
Wow! Distance is unbelievable… they must be rolling out to 270 ..I’d have a lesson off you never mind GP if you could get me driving like that😄
It was abit downwind so then number might have been flattering, but he can hit it about 240-260 when he hits it square! More like 220-230 when he push slices.

That left thumb position is hot wired in to sit around the shaft. I hope your Dad sticks in with his new grip but you may have to work on him. Player was my idol as a youngster born and brough up in Kenya.
It is, he’s got into a bad habit. I’ll keep checking it, and trying to make sure it doesn’t slip back. He’s a proper legend of the game. They don’t get any better than Player.
Were those carry distances accurate? He hits it a mile. Great to see that. Gary Player always has time for people, I’m sure PXG pay him well but he gives great value.
We did have a Scottish breeze behind us which may have flattered him. No, he used to play off 3, so he can strike it well when he squares the face.

Yes. The same grip should apply for both woods and irons.

He’s always playing, he still loves the game! He was looking at PXG clubs, and getting them to test all sorts with him 😂
Gary player is unquestionably a legend. It’s a pity he has to constantly talk up himself. It’s like he’s a bit insecure despite his record. Why did he also have to have a go Arnold palmer not being able to walk… When asked about how he fired against Jack Nicklaus he stated that he Annihilated him!! Why couldn’t he just state that he got the better of him! It’s unfortunate that Mr Player has this side to him. One of the greats should be a bit more considered.
