    I admit it - I haven’t been paying enough attention to my 1991 series 1 Honda NSX and as a result a few issues have built up - and now… it’s broken!
    Incredibly, the last time TheCarGuys featured the NSX in a full episode was 6 years ago, so really we need to get it back on the road, and perhaps up against the new NSX on some challenging roads.
    But, though this starts as a tale of woe, it is quickly followed by redemption, and ultimately a happy ending. In this one episode, you find out what went wrong? How it was fixed? How much it cost? And what’s it like to have the NSX back up to full strength.
    In fact, this shows just how bad at TH-cam we are, because everyone else would’ve got at least 3 episodes out of this one incident!
    Thank you for watching

    This is the CAR. No other manufacturer has ever made a car of this calibre. I have driven one for about 3 k. I got out and refused to drive it any further. The reason was I did not want to drive a car that anything else I ever drove would have to be compared with this, knowing they would fail. Thanks for the video, but it still reminded me of what I am missing. Bugger!

    I remember seeing one for the first time 90/91 maybe. I was a waiter at a posh hotel and golf club and we used to get all kinds in the car park.
    One of these came in and I completely lost my #### it was and still is stunning. I think I’ve only ever seen another 1 or 2 in the wild since. Well done for keeping it on the road rather than being a garage queen.

    What a wonderful car! My congratulations to you on owning this car. When I was purchasing my first new car, a 1991 Acura\Honda Integra I saw the NSX for the first time in the local dealership. Of course, it was all roped off and I could not get close to it! It turned out to be a Ferrari rival, only more reliable. It meant you can drive it all day long without worrying about it breaking down. Incidentally, I still own my 1991 Integra with 225K miles on it. I have had many expensive cars during the ownership of my Integra but somehow, I find myself unable to part with it. Just like NSX the visibility in this car is unreal. No need for any 360-degree camera! Not to mention reliability! Once again congratulations on owning such an amazing car. Well done sir!

    I’ve always loved the NSX. From day one… But in silver, it looks amazing! Every car has a best colour! It might not be the colour you like best, but it would the best colour for the lines. And that colour is silver where the NSX is concerned.
    On a side note to making that point. I think silver is the best colour for a 355 too. Not my favorite, or even a colour I’d choose, but is certainly the best colour for the lines… If you see my point?

It was the first time ive properly driven it for a few years, day after day for a few hundred miles, they just get better and better..... Theres at least one nc1 in the club too, im sure the owner would oblige. The nc1 is in a different league performance wise mind 🤯

    Damian, I went from 348GTS to an NSX-T and in time was disappointed. My conclusion was the NSX was only entertaining when I hammered it. The Ferrari thrilled standing still. I then traded to a standard 2001 Boxster and absolutely loved the exchange. I had a new 1988 Carrera Targa and felt like the Boxster had more air cooled Porsche essence than the two 911's. You really have to own and live with cars to get to the core character of each. If I had your means, I would still own them and the other great cars of my life.

    I know three people that have owned a NSX and they all said they loved them, but they also all said they broke down a lot. One of them was a doctor and he bought one right when they first came out, and it was in the shop within 2 weeks of him getting it. It had a misfire that the Honda dealership never could figure out. He would get it back and a couple days to a week it would start running like crap again. He finally sold it and bought a Porsche and never had a problem with it. The other two bought their cars used and had problems with engine performance and one had a lot of weird electrical problems with the dash and warning lights. One of the cars had severely worn cam shafts and had to have the engine replaced. And it only had something like 35,000 miles at the time. My uncle looked at buying one too, but was told so many stories by other that had owned them that he passed. But what is funny is that even those that said the cars didn’t run well, still said they loved them. I just can’t understand that way of thinking. The only other car owners that I know like that are those that own old British cars and some Italian cars. They said that they are not reliable and a pain in the ass but they still love them. Personally, having worked on old British cars, I don’t think that the NSX could ever be as bad as some of those were. I think that Honda is greatly overrated, but they still make good cars.

      @DQ-su6qf ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t had much problems with mine in the 7 years owned it..but….you’d better have it serviced by an experienced nsx mechanic..and that includes wheel alignment!

    • @jamestaylor3149
      @jamestaylor3149 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that the experiences you have been told about are in a very tiny minority of cars. I’ve had lots of NSX’s and they just don’t go wrong in the way other high performance cars do. There are always people who experience problems, but it’s unfair to form opinions on a few anecdotes. In my experience, you have to take stories on their own merits. You said that one guy changed his NSX for a Porsche. Well look at the issues they had with the 98-2008 engines.
      However, as these cars get older, they do need some work. Like anything else, there is general maintenance and weak points. Luckily with the NSX there are few weak points and none that I would consider critical.
      Additionally, there are great resources at NSXCB and Prime. There are also some great vendors out there, able to provide hard to find parts, or recently manufactured upgrades.
      In the end, we tie our flag to the ship we like best and often we tailor our debate accordingly.

      If it doesn’t have Japanese Gearing the vtec will not function correctly….Big oversight with American NSX’s and a very popular, though expensive, upgrade…
