Have you ever been to Alaska? I live in Kenai, Gods last frontier. Did you know that the auroras are sound sensitive? Discovered this one night when the lights were low in the sky. All the neighbors and myself were outside watching the them when a car went by , a few seconds later the lights danced, like doing the wave at a game or concert . We started clapping our hands, one clap and they danced again , then of course we got very creative and came up with all kinds of ways to make them perform. This lasted until the sunlight replaced the dark. What an experience. I do have some questions for you but I have to wait until I can remember what they were. Lol
It amazes me how someone can just pluck an idea out of their mind and create something so beautiful in less than half an hour. Really inspiring work. I'm gonna try this around Christmas time.
You made me laugh, love the calmness in your voice , love the way you speak throughout tutorial explaining everything in detail - thank you "thumbs up!"
Jason, I have watched Bob Ross for years and even recorded some of his work. I absolutely love this painting and will try it today. Wish me luck. and thanks so much for your videos. I bookmarked this one and just watched it again today. You are very talented. Keep up the videos please.
This is a GREAT tutorial, I am so excited to paint my Auroral scene..... I look forward to seeing it in person someday soon I hope ... Thank you for your video ~ Have a beautiful day ~
Wonderful result, but I did not understand with what liquid you gave the colors of the aurora , with water or other liquid, and then you painted with white .... I'm interested in the start of colors that then appear, because in fact this is the secret! Thank you and good luck !
Absolutely stunning Jason.love watching &listening to your very laid back tururoils. I have learned a lot from you.thank you so much & bless you always.
I just love the seeming simplicity of how things can look so real so quickly. Marvellous, I really love this Jason. You have inspired me to give this a go. I just ordered acrylic paints unfortunately and see you are using oil, which obviously is very different. I wish you would now do the Northern lights in Acrylics as I would wonder if it was as simple?...Anyway, I have subscribed to your channel as I personally really appreciate artists like yourself who do REAL-TIME painting for beginners like me to learn from, without having to necessarily go to an art class...It's kind of you to share your skills like that. Cheers! PS You cracked me up with the comment about doing the 'sound effects' too...I'm gonna do that!! ;)
This is the 1st video of yours that I watched. the way you explained how to do the painting is just crystal clear and very much encouraging.. Man I'm hooked to your channel from now.. keep up the good work and continue inspire us. cheers 👍
Hi, recently started watching your tutorials and love them. I cant seem to find a tutorial on how you put colors on the canvas after gesso and liquid clear. Can you please help? thanks
My friend is dying with cancer stage 4 his last wish was to see the Northern lights. But it will not happen. So I will paint him the Northern lights. Ty ....you did a amazing job ....thumbs up. Sorry for my bad English.
Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us. I love your videos, they are the only ones that I have found that are complete. Including adding the colors your using in the description. I have subscribed and look forward to watching more of your lessons :-)
I follow Jason also. I like his videos. There is also a gentleman named Wilson Bickford who has some full length tutorials. His tutorials are also very good. I think you would like them. :)
I'm not a fan of how the limbs and branches are the same width on all the trees, despite the trees being at varying distances.. And a light dusting of snow on them would've added so much more. Still a really nice picture though.
@teejay Iverson....It's not just the liquid clear. There is also color on top of the liquid clear. That is what I was just coming on to as Jason about. I am pretty sure there is alizarin crimson, sap green and not sure what else. I am going to ask my painting teacher and I will let you know!

I'm not a fan of how the limbs and branches are the same width on all the trees, despite the trees being at varying distances.. And a light dusting of snow on them would've added so much more.
