Fantastic! This is beautiful. I LOVE the colors. You are every bit as good as Bob Ross and he would be so proud of you and your work. Also, I could watch this all day long.
TY Jason, this is the first time watching a seascape painting, that finally "clicked" for me. The panning in and out of the camera, was a great way to see your brushwork. I love your videos and work, and this one just became my top fave.
I have been watching your video and just recently purchased Windsor oil paint, your paintings are absolutely fantastic and already I have learned so much. I have begun to paint with oils using your tutorial video and I am soooo impressed with my beginning process and thanks Jason for doing these step by step tutorials for us beginning painters of oil. I hope to be able to post my painting when finished in hopes of critique.
I think these types of seascape paintings are great for any skill level painters, even for very first paintings and beginners. They are very easy to follow along with and the effects are surprisingly easy to produce even with a limited pallet, brushes and not much detail they will still generally turn out very pleasing and encouraging because they are very forgiving. And once you have the general concept down you can easily recreate these seascapes to practice techniques, effects and try different colors and adding details.
I am inspired. That is beautiful!!!! I organized my paints today, brushes, everything. What is so amazing about your work is your ability to use so few colors and create something so spectacular.. Tomorrow I am going to try this.
Hi Jason, I totally love your painting style. To me you are the next Bob Ross. One thing I would like to see is some floral type paintings, as I have been learning from various other painters of landscape and floral scenes, and would love to see your unique style and usage of colors that you would use. Also keep more paintings coming, I look forward to seeing more great pictures from your easel. :-)
Nice work. One of the best Bob Ross-style seascape artists is Joyce Ortner. She was a guest on Joy of Painting once or twice and her paintings are colorful and super detailed.
I just came across this painting you did and I have to say...it is beautiful! You truly are a gifted painter and an inspiration for beginners like me! You make me want to keep trying! Thank you
dear jason i'm from Belgium in europe and i most say i follow you're lessons on you tube for a year and i loving them you're explainning is the top so keep up all the fun and the good work love you're paintings before i forgeth here in many countries you can't buy magic white so some people here don't know what they most use i use line seed oil with white it is maybe a good thing to know for you i thought thanks for all the lessons looking for the next one many greatings like you say cheers bye
Greetings Jason. Your wet on wet painting is really cool. Bob Ross level cool. There are new paints out by Glow Cubed that really glow big time. Have you tried these yet ? If so. I would love to see what you did. If not. Would you be able to do a few, maybe sea scapes type paintings. Thanks for your lessons. They def help me alot. Mr "T"NH.
Jason I think you found what you're really good at! These paintings with the black canvass using only a handful of colors shows your talent at mixing colors. I painting you did with the mountain using only Prussian blue and white was your best one, until this painting. Stellar job. Heck, I think you should try a forest scene using just green and blue with a single bright spot in the distance at the end of a path.
beautiful, amazing, very warm colours. I love it very much, I'll try to paint it. Thanks for every painting you're sharing with all of us!!! Greatins from Belgium ( Europe )
Amazing painting, you are a very gifted artist! This may seem like an odd request, but you should do a volcano, I've never seen a wet-on-wet painted volcano, could be interesting and a challenge.
You are awesome. I commend you on showing the world how to paint using only two colors plus white. Sometimes beginners get confused using to many colors. Thanks for simplifying this painting concept.
the web has a ton of things, now at 39 after having tasted life i realized that playing basketball and classic artistry (not modern bs) harmonizes my soul, i am really surprised and extremely proud for this
hi jason fantastic seascape watching the painting evolve into a great painting goin to try it soon with my oldish oils once i clear the man cave oot cheers
Jason, can you tell us your secret with the colors underneath the gesso? So, gesso first. Let it dry. Then liquid clear for oil paints, then tap it with paper, let dry, and then you apply a mixture of colors? And gesso again? I think I would love a video about those hidden colors! Especially blew my mind with aurora painting. About to try myself soon! Please share the secret! :D Anna
Love this. This is what TH-cam is for.. no more twerkin tweens- this is perfection. I'm literally trying this painting right now, I'm just waiting for the black gesso to dry! Keep up the fantastic work, you're like a modern day Bob Ross!
Hey guys, sorry about that! My notification box has been malfunctioning or something..I don't know why!! But anyway, it actually went great! It was much more simple than I thought it would be. It's crazy how beautiful only those 2 colors can create so much interest & dimension; almost like a prism of colors. I recommend trying it! :) Just take your time & let the brush do all of the work! ;)
awesome teaching style, easy to follow. do you paint in acrylics as well?? just found you today and will continue to follow you . thank you for the free lessons. best wishes
Impressive! Very good! I notice you didn't use the bright red on your palette. Did you plan to use it in this painting and did you change your mind? Thanks!
Just a suggestion, please go into more detail on your initial setup of base colors. You seem to sometimes skip over little details that turn out to be vital to reproducing your great work. This isn't just starting in a black gesso right? We need to see you apply those base colors you like to use with black paintings. Nothing is more frustrating than trying hours to reproduce your work when a little bit more guidance would have made the experience more fun. Thanks for your work now and in the future.
the base colors are different on every painting. I'm not talking about gesso and liquid clear. I mean the actual colors, the color , and how/where it is being applied.
hi, yes I have done a few of these myself Nick. The nice thing is that you cant screw it up too much and by experimenting on your own it will be more of your painting. Most oil paints will list the transperancy or opaquness on the tube, so you can use any of these in a complimentry fashion(color wheels work great) to find what color you think the sky should be, which according to science is the entire color spectrum at one or another point in the day! hope that helps.
Hi Jason, absolutely awesome picture dude. I am just starting out in the wet on wet technique and wondered if you can tell me how this is actually done at the beginning? Is it black gesso then your colour mixture all over the canvas and that’s it or have you applied liquid clear after? Hope you don’t mind answering questions. Amazing work.
I love your videos, you also remind me of a younger Bruce Dickinson. Also, I've noticed 'distant music' in some of your videos, it sounds like an Ice Cream truck.
Hey Jason, Do you apply the Indian yellow/alizarin crimson mix to the entire canvas over the liquid clear? Or just some spots here and there? Enjoying your videos, thanks!
he does put it every where just blended on the canvas thats what the clear was for. the color tends to darkern at the corners of the canvas so more crimson
Hi Jason, I love your work it has inspired me to try out different styles and colours. For black jesso paintings can you tell me if this is the right order 1. Apply jesso 2. Apply liquin clear 3. Apply base colours for 'magic' effect as in 'two colour sea' My problem is that the base colours cover the jesso so should I put the colours on whilst the liquin clear is still wet or do I thin the colours with oil before applying, your advice would be greatly appreciated, keep up the good work! Keir
The order is correct, you need to choose transparent colours for the desired effect. Also I use liquid clear (a Bob Ross Product), while the liquid clear is still wet I add the colours then I dive straight into the seascape (pun intended). Hope that helps :)
I have one question. I see you are using oils. I have both mediums, oils and acrylics. What do you prefer and why? Do you use oils because of the need to blend so much based on your style of paint??
Marco Battaglia Hello Jason, I am writing you from afar I would need advice, I would try to make the sea at night as your tutorial I look, I put the couleure before putting the magic clear, tell me how to get out red clouds, yellow clear all the magic, PLEASE help me can you know that I speak french I wanted to buy the dvd bob ross is in English but can you tell me the steps? MARCO thank you
Merci MARCO

I really like the way you paint as well as your calm steady demeanor. Thanks for sharing what you have learned.
Thank you for this video. I smiled the whole way through because you reminded me so much of Bob Ross in manner and in skill. WOW.
I think these types of seascape paintings are great for any skill level painters, even for very first paintings and beginners. I love these types of paintings Jason! I notice you using bolder color choices recently in your paintings, and I like that.

How did it go?
Erin Walton I take it you're still waiting for the black gesso to dry.
Hey guys, sorry about that! My notification box has been malfunctioning or something..I don't know why!! But anyway, it actually went great! It was much more simple than I thought it would be. Jason merci pour cette vidéo magnifique...lorsque vous rincez vos pinceaux, dans quel produit ? pour ne pas enlever votre peintre ?? merci
Bob Ross tribute.
One can see, that he has tried to come as as close as possible to Bob.
So is he dipping the clean brush in mineral spirits/turpentine and then getting most of it off before doing the blending?
Omg it’s being long time since I saw any other painting of yours what happened not uploading anymore videos please do if you have any thanks
Always fun to do? Is it easy as he makes it look like? What a beautiful painting.
Amazing Jason.. I'm gonna b brave and try it in acrylic!!.. any tips lol !!!!! :-)
Beautiful job !
I really like this painting...
Hey Jason!!! I like waves technique, thanks for sharing :D

In the beginning of almost every video he links to others that show how to apply the base colors.
the base colors are different on every painting. I'm not talking about gesso and liquid clear. I mean the actual colors, the color , and how/where it is being applied.
I agree

I totally agree with your comment!
Can this style be done with acrylic ? Your art is beautiful!
Hi Jason, absolutely awesome picture dude. I am just starting out in the wet on wet technique and wondered if you can tell me how this is actually done at the beginning? th-cam.com/video/6fG0fPrtfOY/w-d-xo.html if you check out this video it shows the full process of setting it all up. 👍 🎨
wow, stunning!!!
Amazing tutorial. Do you paint in acrylics as well...would this work just as well in acrylics or is oil better
wow awesome ,,u r so good to explain ,,thanks a lot for such nice sharing
I love your videos, you also remind me of a younger Bruce Dickinson. Also, I've noticed 'distant music' in some of your videos, it sounds like an Ice Cream truck.
Your voice is soo soothing.. and you're English like me! I just want to doze off but I can't cause I want to see how it ends 😌
Hey Jason,
Do you apply the Indian yellow/alizarin crimson mix to the entire canvas over the liquid clear? Or just some spots here and there?
Enjoying your videos, thanks!
he does put it every where just blended on the canvas thats what the clear was for. the color tends to darkern at the corners of the canvas so more crimson
So powerful, I love this, some great tips, be well
Hi Jason, I love your work it has inspired me to try out different styles and colours. For black jesso paintings can you tell me if this is the right order
1. Apply jesso
2. Apply liquin clear
3. Apply base colours for 'magic' effect as in 'two colour sea'
My problem is that the base colours cover the jesso so should I put the colours on whilst the liquin clear is still wet or do I thin the colours with oil before applying, your advice would be greatly appreciated, keep up the good work!
Keir
The order is correct, you need to choose transparent colours for the desired effect. Also I use liquid clear (a Bob Ross Product), while the liquid clear is still wet I add the colours then I dive straight into the seascape (pun intended). Hope that helps :)
Jason Bowen Thanks for the swift reply Jason, forgive my ignorance but what are transparent colours, are they a special type of oil paint/
certain colors are naturally transparent i believe, like the indian yellow and crimson he used in this video are transparent.
ethanol glycol works in place of liquid clear
Amazing! I absolutely love this! Great job!
I haven't used oils before. How long did it take to dry? I want to try this one out in oils. :)
Very nice! I'm wondering how to do this in acrylic.
you make it look so simple Iam a beginner . So is there any order in which i must attempt to do your paintings
Great painting. After the "black gesso" dried what and were did you apply the undercoat before you began painting? Thanks, Lou
I have one question. I see you are using oils. I have both mediums, oils and acrylics. What do you prefer and why? Do you use oils because of the need to blend so much based on your style of paint??
Simply superb
absolutely beautiful!
Using a wet-on-wet technique, do you have to be concerned with your base drying as you work?
Very nice. Quite confidence inspiring. Thanks
that paint is very very good but i think you might improve the sky beacouse looks if it was still on the first layer. its my personal opinion
Благодарю, за технику написания картины, круто, влюблена в море💖
Thank you..Super...I love you work. Love and Light :)
Ohhhhh!!!!!!Yesssssss!!!!!!this is Lovelyyyyyy!!!!!!!! , WOWwwwww!!!!!!!!
