An older rider too, now into my second year riding this bike. its my only transport so wanted something tough and reliable, its been a fantastic and comfortable ride even over longer (30+) mile journeys with full panniers and an additional large capacity battery to make sure I never run out of juice. Worth every penny, cant wait to go bikepackimng on mine.

Great review. Do you know if there’s a decent support network for this make of bike. I’ve seen a few US reviews recently regarding E Bikes and it would appear that a lot of bike shops are not equipped to do the diagnostic checks should there be a problem on the electrical side. Most bike shops seem to able to tackle the mechanics but are not willing to look at the electrical side.
I’m sorry I’ve no idea, there’s a decent Facebook group and engwe themselves seem to be pretty proactive but I’ve obviously been sent this for review so I didn’t do a purchase research.
The top speed that the motor works until cutting out (legally) is 15.5mph but the top speed is around 25mph before the gears “run out” manually. As we said in the review the battery distance depends on many factors like how heavy the rider is, how much power you use, the terrain etc. We did 39 miles on the bike for this review and had 1 bar left but it was drifting in and out to none. For that we weren’t being careful with the battery and Rick had it on power 5 a lot for his trip to work.
This bike is way overpriced mechanical disc brakes hard tail 13 A on Engwe site goes for £999 the engine pro with hydraulic brakes 16 A more power 250 quid more which bike would you pick?
I’m lucky in the fact I got sent it to review so didn’t have to choose, Heather likes it that’s all that matters, the video shows the bike and lets people make their own decisions if they want one, that’s all I’m required to do.

Hi Great review thinking of getting the folding one as we have a motorhome, are they very heavy?
The Engwe website lists all of the details but they’re all over 30kg when you get to this size of bike.
