@bellanano73 yeah Engwe confirmed this today. Very weird. I still like it as a way to override the disadvantages of a torque sensor but if it takes you to 20 then it's not a legal solution 🤦. Thanks for letting me know 👍👍

Is it true the power assist levels 1-5 are all the same? I heard some other reviewers mention it. Was thinking of getting this bike.. but im not sure anymore if regular pedal assist isnt working how it should..

@ it does. Thing is, it’s the torque that gets you up to that speed. So, you probably know this but for those that don’t, speed is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you go through the wall. My comment about “just push the boost button and see how fast it goes” is to point out it doesn’t. The bike doesn’t move if you press the boost button on its own. You’re right about the battery size, if you’ve watched any of my reviews you’ll have seen how ENGWE works to budgetary limits, which is a shame because that restricts them from making better bikes. They sent me the 16ah battery too … that’s what I reviewed mine with. ENGWE always seems to get it a bit wrong. Interested in seeing what you think about the LE20. Like the Pro2.0 it’s a keeper … and I’ve already started modding mine. Keep up the good work. ❤️
@@ModProjects4306 not sure what you mean about the wall. It's definitely giving power over 15.5mph. Speed is speed and it shouldn't be giving power over 15.5 if it wants to be legal. I'm looking forward to trying the LE20 as I think it might replace the Fiido T2 with it's lift up cage. If so it will be a keeper. I think the Engine Pro 2 could have been better though.
Another excellent video. I do not see how this can be legal in the UK when the UK regulation states : ".should not be able to propel the bike when it’s travelling more than 15.5mph". Though there may be legal wiggle room as it states "should" and not "must", but I am not a lawyer nor do I pretend to be one on the internet. Personally I would not be willing to risk the points on my licence just because Engwe says it is legal.
As far as I'm concerned, all these Chinese bikes are pretty dodgy. Who has certified it as "legal"? I'm not a lawyer, but in my opinion, if you can de-restrict it in 20 seconds with a few button presses, it ain't legal. That said, I do own one, but I prefer my crank driven Trek bike, much better on hills, but you're on your own above ~16mph.
@igotes Most e bikes have Chinese parts in them. It's just a question of getting one from a reputable Chinese factory which you wouldn't know if they were or not if they were just sending them to you. My e bike is from a reputable factory because the owners of the company here in the uk went and checked them out first before dealing with them.
I doubt the word 'should' would help you. But I don't think my bike was meant to be getting assisted over 15.5mph. I'm sure the boost button only works up to 15.5 or at least it's meant to.
@@lizvickers7156 I'm well aware that most electronic parts are made in China. These hub driven bikes, don't get me wrong, they're fun and I own one, they all have pretty much the same electronics. In my experience they are all easily hackable from the control panel, whereas the crank type motors from Bosch, Yamaha etc. tend to be harder to hack. Not that it's impossible...

Super bike... for the price, the quality, components, power, battery and performance, are The Best! Puts Engwe's L20's miles away (and I really like the L20 range too). Regards!
So which one to get the original or this why does it weigh so much ,weight that’s heavier than the engine pro that I have and that’s an absolute bastard to shoulder up the stairs and it looks a lot beefier than these bikes the L20 , looks anorexic in comparison but weighs more, so a poll , the original which is cheaper I think it’s lighter or this one which you will get a better workout on no doubt given the weight and the torque sensor but costs quite a bit more I’m interested in any feedback would be appreciated thanks
@@Dee-md5qn I'd base it totally on whether you want to keep legal. If you do then the boost. But not if it powers past 15.5. I'm still unsure if that was meant to happen. Also I'm pretty sure they must be very similar weight. It could be the lower weight I said it was just awkward to pick up.

A properly geared racing bike can easily get up to 40 mph on most roads, steep hills will bring you down to about 3 to 7 mph. On a steep enough slope you could hit a our 50 mph.
Assuming you mean "too small", she might be. Lowest seat height is 82cm (32in) so unless she's pretty leggy for 5'3" she will be on tippy-toes. Of course she can always lean the bike over sideways a bit at stops.
Still feel the pedal assist isn't enough on it. Especially when pedeling into the wind or a slight incline. Always feel the speed drop and average like 13mph or less. So forced to use the boost frequently to maintain 15mph. Also been coming home in the dark in unlit places recently and that front light is really not bright enough. Can only see a very small amount infront. Not sure why your boost button was allowing you to go faster. Maybe cost it confused it when you unlocked and relocked it. Might need power off to reset it lol. The boost button speed wise on mine is like the engine X. It powers over 15 to get you upto speed, then cuts out. 🙂
Nice bike. However I was wandering about the rules and regs in the UK for an E-Trike surely thay cant be limited to 250w same as a bike especially as most folks with a UK licence can legally ride a Motor trike
I am surprised this is "legal" My VOLT Pulse has a legal feature in the form of a walk assist trigger which moves the bike at 3mph when the pedals are not moving, but as soon as you rotate the cranks it becomes a completely legal throttle up to 15.5mph, you have to rotate the cranks for it to work, but the amount of effort you input is irrelevant (ghost pedaling you call it), its a really great feature particularly for starting off from standstill
@@e-VRC Yes, on the older VOLT PULSE (I inherited my brothers 10 year old MK1) the trigger worked even if you werent pedaling which is now not legal, but the way its implimented now on my new one is legal and safe and useful, I am surprised more hub drive bikes dont have something similar, a great feature, the trigger is also proportional like a throttle so you can add as much or little boost as you need
I suspect that if this bike was illegal and Engwe are stating it is legal in the UK, and you are found to be riding an illegal bike Engwe would be in court pretty quick. Personally I would ensure any ebike I purchased was strictly compliant to UK requirements, mainly because I can't afford to have my bike seized. Figures released by the police state that over 1000 illegal ebikes were seized in 2023, probably more in 2024. I can in any case easily exceed 15.5mph on my pedal bike without the assistance of a battery.
@ I’ve been riding dodgy bikes for years, Gloucestershire constabulary don’t target e-scooters or ebikes it seems. Mine has two 1000w motors mainly for hills but it can get up to 30mph very quickly if needed.
@@e-VRC I really don't see the point of a "boost button", if it's not supposed to propel you any faster than 25km/h. I guess it's to stop your motor overheating?
@@igotes personally I think it's more about negating the negatives of having a torque sensor. Being able to get the full power without having to try. If the same bike had a cadence sensor it would get all the power with little effort anyway. However cadence sensors aren't good at setting off. The button seems to give all the advantages of both without the weaknesses.
@@e-VRC Yeah, I did notice you enjoyed how quickly the pedal assist came in. My "daily driver" is an old hand-me-down, makes a racket but it's crank driven which makes a huge difference imo. The pedal assist is immediate and it works so much better on hills than a 250W hub drive.
***WARNING*** I attempted to purchase one of these bikes several times a few weeks ago. On both occasions and using different bank cards the payment was denied by my banks. When I requested a reason they said that this company has a marker and is high risk. Be very careful👍
@chrishullah5000 oh weird. Not sure why that's happened. Loads of people have been happy with the service including delivery. Maybe some weren't and reported them. I do wish they'd use fewer sites though all the individual country websites is a bit much.

I have L20 and i love it i ride it 5700km and now i change the speed to 40kmph and l20 boost is 32kmph if you unlock the speed

A boost button is legal. There is a boost button in Gocycle ebikes

Nah, throttles are still legal up to 20 mph.
I have L20, and I love it. However, the brakes are the problem. Engwe needs to put hydraulic brakes on these bikes.

If you want a quick bike buy a motorbike.
It's also quicke, you can unlock the speed
