You guessed it right. It is a transverse engine, heavier on the front axle, and the xdrive system is different, it is FWD based. I don't know what is sdrive supose to mean. Sport Drive definitely not. Perhaps single axle drive. This "new" xdrive only sends power to the rear when front tires loose grip. The system is also cheaper to produce. The same story with the new X1. I wanted to change my old x1 and buying the new model with the top engine but after reading about it, I'm not interested anymore. I ended up buying an used z4 3.0 coupe and I'll keep the old x1.
I think the fact that they're using the term sDrive for the FWD models is simply misleading. And if the xDrive system is different why are they still calling it xDrive?! Thank you for the info! Good thing you kept the old X1 ;)
SDRIVE means rear wheel drive BMW and Front wheel drive AWD BMWs have Heldex system not Xdrive. So 1 series, 2 series grand coupe, 2 series Grand tourer, X1 and X2 have Heldex, which is the same system Audi uses.
The side emblems are a great touch of class, with the toyota corolla looking the same from the sides etc.......this vehicle is ACTUALLY a MINI countryman or clubman with the skin changed! its a solid second entry into BMW, WITHOUT BMW drive, or transmission!
It looks really good in person...Sporty and youthful. Has been designed for younger generation, family simply won't fit...Only issue the 2 litre 190 some horsepower small SUV does not worth over 40k....
Five years later and the X2 doesn't look so bad considering some of BMW's current & future model line-ups, in this year of 2023 the new one will be announced and we can only imagine what it will look like! But overall the X2 looks fine, if not so conventional and it's nice they've tried a sporty version of the slightly lardy X1 F48, but i suppose that _is_ an SUV more proper - and they filled the coupé gap between the X1 and X3 ;-) It's a shame that you found it to understeer so greatly in snow even with winter tyres, but FWD/FWD-biased cars will tend to do that (heck even RWDs unless you play with the throttle!) but the xDrive system is an AWD (all-wheel drive) system and not a proper 4WD set-up so i've never had great confidence in it for heavy snow or mud/off-road conditions, just wet asphalt and dry cornering. Also a year after this vid the F40 1-series arrived also with the same FWD or xDrive chassis and i doubt they'd fare better but i guess will feel sportier due to their smaller size and being lower to the road. Interesting of what you said about the suspension not being as harsh as reported, however you were on winter tyres on what looked like 18inch wheels (and driving on snow!), most of the press cars had the 20inch monsters that only have runflat tyres, and the ones that had 19inch probably on RFTs too and the top M35ix model has even stiffer suspension! I test-drove one with the same diesel unit (which is found across the BMW model line-ups) and drivetrain as that in the vid but the engine was embarrassing noisy at town speeds and not particulary quick - when i got back into my 220i Active tourer with it's B48 2ltr petrol engine & DCT gearbox it felt like a sports car compared with the diesel X2! :-D Anyway thanks for sharing your thoughts back then.
So mini in 3 cylinder its ok,and x2 its ugly, dude you are total aa,its a pure bmw design, but you think are the best to make a point, cheap and idiots commentaries!
I've owned BMW's for decades and have gotten so dissatisfied with their changed marketing and engineering models that I have switched brands. It's a sad testimony to a car company that use to build some of the best driving machines on the planet. At the prices that BMW sell their brands for, none of them should have understeer or driving dynamics that fall this short of personal driving satisfaction. Those brilliant old German engineers are all but long gone. Money now trumps quality with over bloated weight, size, tech, smaller engines, softer less dynamic suspensions and so forth. Your points are duly noted and your impressions were honest ones. Good review.
Saying your wrong is disagreeing with what ur saying it’s the same ur saying I can’t disagree then turn off the comments or don’t even make TH-cam videos to begin with now that being said I own the car for 2 years you had for 1 week ? Ask me anything about it and I can answer and give u more knowledge about it that might actually help you with ur next video review about the car to be more accurate for the viewers ;)
I respect the reaction! but if you can choose a lease car at work and you can choose between a golf break, renault megan or bmw X2.... but yes it is .....not a BMW but drives well
Lol man I have the same thought about the stupid BMW logo on the pillar. Like other German car manufacturers, BMW went down market to appeal to the lower end customers a long time ago with their X1/X2, Mercedes with their el cheapo CLA....

Just bought a 2021 and Im in love! So smooth handles amazing. New BMW owner here. I never knew how much I needed this car!
This car is a beauty. Anyone will say that, especially after seeing front of the new Lexus RX 350/NX 300. No kidding.
If you look at it that way... I agree with you 😃
I’m in love with the X2.
Sam Holly Do you personally own one? I am looking at it and not sure yet.
@@mindywh0624 I own one and I love it, also it's very cheap at the moment you can even take a full option m35i with 300hp for like 40k€

Considering you drive an M2 of course everything will feel like crap...
It's got nothing to do with that. I recently drove a 3 cylinder Mini and it was really really good.
So mini in 3 cylinder its ok,and x2 its ugly, dude you are total aa,its a pure bmw design, but you think are the best to make a point, cheap and idiots commentaries!
This is a S-Drive model, which is front drive. This explains the understerring.
This is an xDrive model. The one I was driving

I like the car though
Your wrong man it just a different size and completely different new bmw car wich makes u say that
You can't say I'm wrong as it's simply an opinion. You can of course disagree with it

An X2 20d here costs just as much as a decently equipped 320d m-sport. I'll take the 3 series any day.
me too but it's not in the list of cars of the company.
Omg....they want to beat the dacia duster in the fuel cap size!
Other than z4, this would be the only bmw i would buy atm. IMO, FLAWLESS exterior, interior is ok. Overpriced tho.
A personnal opinion is always subjective, specifically from a M2´s owner Like you...
Nice car but too expensive
Do you have larger items you need to move? Obviously not. So review different cars because your opinion on this one is worthless.
🤓 LOVE 💖 BMW 🇩🇪
I found The visibility to be awful in the x2
Moi je trouve que sa va
I am trying to forget the X2 already.. Pretty sure we will be seeing a lot of them on the road though.
I agree with you !. No weight balanced + front wheel drive = no fun = this is not a BMW.
Mine is the 🥜's fooking love it...
It's a beauty. I completely disagree with you
That's why the title is "my opinion". Everyone has their own. You like it, I don't and that's completely fine
6.47. Paint looks shocking
This guy. Love it.
Car is just fine, lot of bla bla bla, brain storm dude...
This is my opinion and to me it’s not a fine car at all.

Oooof a 190hp diesel engine.. Gross. And you liked it? Lololol instantly discredited.
😂😂😂

Damn, you beat me to it :D
