One thing the Honda CRF300L has a huge aftermarket options, along with Big bore kits, ECU, suspension. Hoping Yamaha builds a YZR350 as might have a WR350! That would be AWESOME!
I'm having flashbacks to a couple years ago lol. Looking forward to seeing reviews of the drz4s and 390 adv R. I can say that as a klx300 owner it's a great bike for the price and the suspension for me was perfect. Having good suspension from the factory is a big big deal. Sold the klx as it just didn't quite have enough power for me. I am not a novice rider so for others it will be fine. I am looking forward to the drz for this reason.
With the right (yet cheap) mods klx300 is 30+hp from the wheel (23hp stock). Mine is 32hp now! The key part is JDM ECU from klx250 which has good ignition timing and not limited by new emissions restrictions..
KLX is superior to the CRF, had both for extensive time on and off-road. With that said the drz4s will outsell both quickly and easily if they don’t bump up the power
The "more power" aspect of the current DR-Z and the DR-Z4S is why I didn't buy a KLX or CRF earlier this year. I KNEW I'd never be happy with the reduced power compared to my 2002 DRZ that I've had since 2006. I also didn't buy one because I said to myself "I need to wait and see what Suzuki comes up with or 2025". The only thing that may scare some riders away from the DR-Z4S is the price. I am guess it will be at a minimum, several hundred US dollars more than the current DR-Z
Also, for 2025 in Europe Kawasaki has a KX300X model so hoping Honda/Suzuki/Yamaha at least get in on this and offer it in a 6 SPEED as could tag and put lights on it.
Just for kicks....remove the 2nd throttle body plate on the KLX300 and then compare the power delivery again. I'm guessing...based on my experience with my KLX300...it will be better than the CRF. There was major difference when under 7000 rpm. The KLX300R dirt only model does not have this 2nd plate. Would be a great follow up video to this one. For "off road" use only...of course.
The point of them riding these stock was to see how the bikes would do. Pretty awesome considering both the terrain and the competition and dedicated enduros they were up against and finished in the top ten. Fixing the suspension was not part of their plan. If it was their test purpose would have been pointless.
I've seen guys take the stock KLX to a motocross track and clear table tops. If you think the suspension on both is 'horrible', maybe you're not the beginner to intermediate rider that these bikes were designed for?
Kawasaki actually lowered the price on the 2025 KLX300 to $5,449, down from $6,199 ... crazy that something actually went down in price.
The problem is shocks are expensive compared to foot pegs.
And the low end power is identical if you do the throttle plate delete on the klx.
Really? Interesting.
Thanks for the video!!!

Great vid. Thank you. I had a 21 300L and a 24 Klx 300 for 1 summer. Both great fun bikes , but I kept the KLX and sold the 300L.
Glad you found the video helpful. We are all about having fun on these bikes!
@ totally agree
Now that was a test....

@d1aman I had mine with the bdsb ecu flash and it made a good amount of difference but just not enough to keep me happy.
Are you talking about the new DRZ with fuel injection? Should be good.
@toddsmith8608 yup.
i agree its got crf450rl power with 40 extra lbs is NOT BAD

Except that it's guaranteed they'll bump the price on the drz, significantly. And still no 6 speed.
@@danielgreen7159 who needs 6 speeds when you have 50% more hp and torque all across the rev range?
Be interesting to see how it goes, hoping Yamaha has an option soon as well.

Next time add in the new Rieju Aventura 307 Rally.
Isn't this video a repost?
The last one was more of a recap of the big bear run, this is more focused on how the bikes perform comparatively

We have a "mods" video coming soon for the KLX and the CRF
They just lowered the price on the KLX.
I know I just bought mine last week and love it!!!
390 enduro R
Wrr 250
The suspension is horrible on both Race Tech $250 solves problem.
and yet they finished top ten overall on stock suspension....

Depends on how many pounds you're packing under your belt. Spring rates are set-up for a rider in the 150 pound range
My crf300l will easily go 70 down the freeway. And it will do it all day long.
Same klx 300 will do too
