    Rick, thank you for both of your videos. I listened tearfully to your first one about 4 weeks ago when I suddenly lost the hearing in my left ear. Oral steroids didn’t help and I will have my second injection tomorrow. I have started hearing a little vibration in my left ear which is new and does give me some encouragement. I too am a Christian and have prayed that God will reveal His purpose in all this to me. There definitely is a mourning period you go through with this condition. The loud tinnitus is really difficult to deal with emotionally and so much worse than the hearing loss itself in my case. Your videos and your positive caring attitude were comforting and I wanted to thank you for sharing them and most especially for sharing your testimony in Christ. Praying for you and all of us who share this condition. 🙏🏻

    Thanks for your follow-up video. I am in the initial stages of SSHL and both videos and message were helpful.

    Thanks for the two videos, very helpful. It has been more than a month and I have still not seen much progress from oral steroids and (painful)ear canal injections.

    Thank you for sharing. I'm a pastor and just experienced SSHL on May 20. Heard a pop in my ear. I'm currently on a 20 day steroid regiment. I feel blessed that I only lost high frequency and can still hear although it's muffled and distorted. I plan to get a hearing aid. My left ear still has normal hearing. You were right in your first video that when this happens it's scary and life altering. Once your senses start going it feels like freedom is being taken. I also cried to my wife when I told her after visiting the ENT. But I'm continuing to trust in the Lord and that good can come from this. Jesus never promised us an easy life but as you said one day all will be restored.

      No, I did give that up. Mostly because I hate practicing! But, the hearing issue makes it more challenging too.

      Unfortunately there is little that they understand or can do. Maybe research has made some progress since I got it but I haven’t kept up. I just am used to it.

      Not as bad as the first three weeks but I still do have ringing. I’m just so used to it I often don’t even notice it.

    Thank you for sharing! I also have a SSHL on my right ear with constant tinitus. Just want to know if you are experiencing slight imbalance while walking or moving around? And did you ever experience vertigo? Thank you for your response.

      Hi, yes I had some dizziness issues but they subsided within about 30 days. I also noticed a lessened ability to handle roller coasters after this. I suspect there’s been some equilibrium disruption from it but day to day no issues.

      I’m sorry you are going through this. It is difficult, especially at first. You will adjust to some degree into a new normal. Seek God in this. Everything has a purpose. I prayed for you to recover further.

    Hey Rick, I would like to ask you how does your own voice sound to you now?
    Is it deeper or soft or no change?

    • @wildermccool
      @wildermccool  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can’t say that I noticed much of a change after my hearing loss. At times I think I sound more nasally but my nasal passages may be changing too so… who knows.

    Thanks for your video. Can you please let me know how you are going now. is the tinnitus bothering you yet? I just had SSHL and it is very useful to follow your journey. I am just having some difficulty with tinnitus and worrying about this affecting my other ear too.

    • @wildermccool1623
      @wildermccool1623 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good morning, I still have the tinnitus in the right ear but I can honestly say I rarely even notice it any more. Fortunately. I have not had a problem in my left ear. It’s been 6 1/2 years now since my SSHL. Prayers for you to heal or adapt.

    • @wildermccool
      @wildermccool  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Tinnitus was really horrible the first 3-4 weeks but subsided to a ringing I can deal with most of the time I’m not even aware of it but it takes time to adjust. Hang in there. 🙏🏻❤️‍🩹

    What is the gospel?

    • @wildermccool
      @wildermccool  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s the good new that the penalty for our sins, all the ways that we fall short of God’s perfection, has been paid by the death, burial, and resurrection of God’s Son, Jesus Christ. We need to repent (turn away from) our sins and turn to God. If we put our faith and hope in Jesus Christ and confess our sins, God will forgive us. Read the Gospel of John in the Bible and seek God.

    Hi Rick. Can you wear a hearing aid?

    • @wildermccool

      They’ve told me because my word recognition is only between 60-65% that it would just be amplifying garble. I’ve wondered though. Maybe I’ll try one one day.

      Hearing aids turn up the volume, but give a poor understanding of clarity, speech intelligibility. I hope that drugs for treatment hearing FX 322 and Fx 345 which are being developed Frequency Therapeutics, will help people. Similar drugs are also being developed in Australian clinics.

      @@wildermccool Hearing aids pick up lots of background noise and I was very pleasantly surprised to learn that it helps muffle my tinnitus. It was a nice bonus to actually being able to hear better.
